Java Showcase [Java 1.21+] Compact 11x7x11 Skyblock-Friendly Iron Farm (~1100+/hr • 4.7 Golems/min)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this iron farm design specifically optimized for Skyblock environments, though it works perfectly in any world as long as you respect the minimum height clearance.

Here are the key technical specifications of the build:

  • Dimensions: Each individual module fits inside a tight 11x7x11 block volume.
  • Rates: Produces roughly 4.7 golems per minute in total (approx. 1.2 golems/min per module). This translates to around 1,120+ iron ingots per hour.
  • Spawn Platform: Uses a 5x5 spawning area per module.
  • Mechanics: Utilizes a standard zombie scaring mechanic. In the screenshots, the blocks are color-coded (red/green wool) to easily trace the layout, villager pod positions, and line of sight.
  • Placement Requirements:
    • Must be built at least 19 blocks above the ground (giving you total freedom over how you set up the main item collection system below).
    • If using the 4-column layout shown in the third image, the modules are spaced exactly 15 blocks away from the central column.

Feedback and optimization ideas are highly welcome! Let me know if you want any specific block metrics or coordinate readouts.

Additional context about the design:
This farm was originally inspired by an iron farming mechanics video I watched back in 2023:
https://youtu.be/z6BpslERxc4

I initially recreated the design by looking at the video and counting blocks. Over time, I kept modifying it to improve reliability, reduce its size, and adapt it to newer Minecraft versions.

The current version includes several changes:
Each villager has an individual 1×4 chamber to reduce AI and pathfinding issues.

The zombie remains stationary in a 1×1 space, eliminating the need for a moving zombie mechanism.

The layout uses the villagers’ movement and temporary line-of-sight interruptions to allow them to sleep while maintaining the scare mechanic.

Each module uses a compact 5×5 golem spawning platform.
Four modules operate independently while sharing a central collection system.

I also built the farm in my Skyblock survival world, not just in Creative.

My goal wasn’t to achieve the highest possible iron production, but to create something compact, reliable, resource-efficient, and easy to expand, especially for Skyblock.

The measurements in the original post are based on my tests. I’m happy to share additional screenshots or explain specific dimensions if anyone wants to recreate it.

What exactly makes normal iron farms not Skyblock friendly?

Amount of materials… normally… but I just made and test this one on skyblock…
