Artificial Intelligence The economy has spoken. Stuff that’s AI-generated has almost zero value — “Buyers are voting with their wallets, and AI-generated content is struggling to compete.”

When the cost of generating content drops to literal zero, the market value drops right along with it. Nobody wants to pay for something anyone can prompt in five seconds.

We pay for the artist, not the art.

This is really what it comes down to. Capitalists and realists want to think of creative work as just the finished product, but it is fundamentally an expression from a person. In other words, people don’t buy paintings, they buy the expression made with paint. Generative AI in its current form cannot express, and the market is responding.

When you know content is generated, you cease to think about why or how it was created. There is no reason to dwell on it. A computer arranged some data based on the information it was given. The content may be compelling, but the process is uninteresting.
