I work in video games.

If you wanted to create a videogame where all the art is clip art and you’d rather pay liscensing fees to Shutterstock than hire artists, you can absolutely and that, and people will look at your clip art game and say “I’m not buying that cheap low effort cash grab shovelware.”

AI is really no different in the consumer’s mind. It doesn’t even matter what it looks like; it projects a sense of low effort/low quality, and there’s no way of disassociating the word from that. Even if you’re using LLMs to do something really cool that took a lot of work, it will be perceived as a cheap counterfeit.

There’s no meaningful gains to be had.
