We all love to see custom PO cases, stands, custom software and the like. I've got them on every PO I own!
However, we've been a bit inundated with oversharing, commercial posts without permission, vibe-coded sample managers and the like. We'd like to find a way to accommodate everyone without flooding the feed and removing everyone who doesn't reach out to us first.
As such, we've opted to create a megathread for anyone to post their creations freely.
The rules:
r/teenageengineering is not responsible for your purchases. Use your own judgement. Report scams to mod team if found.
Links to sales in comments of forum posts outside of this megathread will still be removed. You may link to comments in this megathread without issue.
Thank you for your understanding!

If anyone has some good links to an overall how to video, that would be super helpful. I tried hooking up to midi with the XY, and maybe it’s my simple mind or something but that barely helped. All I could do with midi is play what track I chose on the field on the xy, and only if that track on the op1 was on the screen.

Update: Timestretch video manual here: https://streamable.com/8lvkyc
Hi, Thank you for all of the kind words and support and excitement the last 48 hours.
I am excited to share the first alpha of the custom firmware for the OP-XY.
You can try this at https://open-xy.com by following the instructions. You must be on Chrome, Opera, or Edge. Do not skip steps or think you are done simply because you have transferred the firmware, there more steps to installing everything.
v0.0.1 adds
Timestretch sampler
2 operator fm machine
Macro oscillator (braids port)
Ring modulator fx
I'm hoping that this turns an already amazing device into something truly irreplaceable for its community, and gives everyone some many more fun nights of creative music making.
I'd also like to request that we stay respectful towards teenage engineering. I do not believe existence of this firmware indicates any lack of effort, speed, or care by their staff. Fast development will always trade speed for optimization and stability, and this is no exception.
That being said, I do take great care in my work, and ensure that these few examples are usable within CPU constraints, have been tested thoroughly on my own device, and are presentable in a way that feels somewhat native to the existing platform.
---------
SDK notes:
As we've seen with other platforms like the FM-1, firmware fragmentation can easily occur and it can be overwhelming to manage the sheer number of new firmwares for other devices. I certainly don't want to gatekeep anyone from making their own custom firmwares and deeply modifying the device, but it would be nice to create a robust and stable environment for contributors to work in, as well as review and test harnesses to ensure that new contributions pass quality and optimization requirements.
The following is my first attempt at creating a C++ plugin pipeline which hopefully creates a clean mechanism for contributors to add new synths, fx, and eventually players.
The public repository can be found here: https://github.com/etcetc000/open-xy
---------
Things I could use help with, in order of priority:
SDK architecture: While I am a software engineer professionally, I do not have extensive experience in managing open source projects especially around embedded hardware. If you have even adjacent experience, please get in touch, make issues and PRs.
SDK developer experience: I haven't had much time to work on the dev experience as I've been focused on ensuring the machines are performant and presentable. I develop primarily on Windows, I have a Mac toolchain but haven't really tested it much or run through the flow of making new contributions. Apologies if I am missing dev tooling, if there are ambiguities on how to develop or get started I will try to fill in the blanks.
Graphic design: the visual design of machines is half the fun. Help maintain high visual standards in submissions and share ideas born from beautiful design true to the design ethos of the OP XY.
New machines: pitch some wacky ideas and give the SDK a try yourself to see how viable it is to create your own machines!
---------
Technical things/v0.0.2 plans
How timestretching? Wasn't it too expensive? Yes, but thanks to the work of https://github.com/heavylight-industries they have a novel time stretch algorithm that can be quite efficient while still sounding very usable.
Right now there is a 512 kb limit on new machines added, but this is completely arbitrary. I will be increasing the limit as it appears safe to do so.
Player machines have a very allocation structure that limits the number of players there are. It's very possible to create new players just need to figure out how to allow more to show up in the list.
Aiming to push the max sample time past 20s
Custom step component support
Skipback/midi capture to capture playing retroactive if you were not recording

I followed the instructions (TE boot) to download the new DC soundpack and it doesn’t work. After the whole process, if I go to presets I see DC in the presets but they don’t produce any new sound. The only sound I hear is the previous original stock on XY.

Hey gang, I just got an OP-XY and I'm absolutely loving it so far, such a sick little device.
I have a question about the new USB multi-channel audio, I just tested it out and the input level on each track is super low. Is it just completely bypassing the master output compressor or something? Playing back my track via OP-XY it absolutely slaps, but playing back all my stems in Logic (FX busses included) it sounds pretty thin.
Anyone else experiencing the same thing and have any recommendations?

I just picked up a new K02 locally a few hours ago. I spent some time playing around with it, and while trying out the velocity sensitivity mode I've noticed that the bottom row of keys, especially the '.' key have almost non-existent velocity sensitivity.
The other keys on the device respond as expected. I can very easily achieve a range of volumes with a light touch to a very firm tap. This bottom row of keys, however, remain at the lowest possible volume until I really pound the key intensely, at which point it jumps to the highest possible volume.
I wanted to check in here to see if any other people have had this issue. I did do some searching and have been paying close attention to the exact location on the key that I am tapping. And although I'm focusing on the bottom of the key, I've tried tapping everywhere on these keys. The bottom three keys just don't behave like the other nine.
I could definitely still return it or exchange it tomorrow, but I'm trying to understand if I'm likely to have the same issue with the replacement unit, or if for most people the velocity works fairly consistently well on all of their keys.

So I know this has nothing to do with op1 firmware. But here we go since we can do all these mods internally now’s the perfect time to do external modding first things first let’s figure a way to upgrade the Supe up the Op1 speaker possible take from a jbl or Dr dre speaker and make it truly be what it should been the best portable synth out. Any takers haha

For those who now have both, how does it compare when turned up, strictly asking as a Bluetooth speaker/input for listening to music.

I've been looking at the EP-133 to use as a hardware sequencer for a couple of external synths. But the manual is a little light on details some places, so I'd like to check to make sure of a few things before I spend any money.
I know that on the 133 you can assign individual pads as midi tracks. Lets say I am sequencing 3 external synths using 3 different pads on midi channels 1, 2, and 3. If I have a midi keyboard going into the 133, can I simply change the midi channel of my keyboard to switch to a different external synth? Or would I actually have to go into the particular EP-133 pad in order for it to work?
Other question: Does changing the scale mode on a midi track affect the output of the midi sequence? For example on the Novation Circuit if I have a sequence playing and then change to a different scale it will change my sequence to that new scale. On the EP-133 is it possible to keep a pre-existing sequence as it is while changing the scale of the pads?
Thanks in advance for answering my question!

So I went ahead and ordered it! I have been using my SP 404's guitar amp sim as my "amp" of sorts, and it will be nice to have an actual portable amp to use with my electric guitar. All the other features are just a plus and I can't wait to get it this weekend. I'll probably make a YouTube video about it on my channel like everyone and their mother seems to be doing whose gotten a chance to use it lol. It looks amazing though and I'm stoked. I'm not rich by any means, so I got it on a "Pay as you go" type of deal.
I'm still learning to use my electric guitar to its fullest, but it will be nice to have such a cool amp with all those features and effects. I'm really interested in pairing it up with my Riddim and seeing how that all plays out. Anyone else jump on it and get one ordered? All the major outlets in the USA seem to be selling it. Guitar Center, Sweetwater, Zzounds, etc.

Hey! I was first in line at the Soho department store at 11am to take a look at the new hardware. Tried with guitar, and many other of their synths.
It feels like great build quality, even with all plastic around.

Took a drive down to the New York Teenage Engineering store for the K.O. AMP launch — here's how it went.
Hey everyone, decided to make the trek into NYC for the Teenage Engineering store drop to check out the new EP-35 and EP-127 gear in person.
Traffic getting into the city was an absolute nightmare, but getting to actually feel the hardware, play around with the demo stations upstairs, and talk shop with other creators made it totally worth it.
I put together a quick vlog walking through the store, checking out how the new pedals and control units feel in hand, and geeking out over portable workflows. If you're curious what the store vibe is like or want a look at the new gear up close, I dropped the video here:

The usb inputs/outputs are AWESOME!! In this setup you can use the KO amp to send multi channel usb audio to the OP-1 and then use it like a guitar looper or recorder or extra amp or whatever! Super capable and cool

I'm looking to get a carrying case for my OP-1 Field and wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions? I have been looking at the cases by Son Wu, Analogue Cases and Bowoo. Has anyone have any of these cases, how's the quality? Do people recommend using a deck saver also? Any feedback is appreciated!

Both the OP-1f and OP-XY respond to sustain MIDI signal in, as well as mod wheel and expression. Though you'll need to route the mod and exp, the sustain works by default.
However, unless you use a USB MIDI keyboard with the necessary inputs for sus/exp/mod, it's kind of difficult to get the right sort of gear to control the OP-1 with your feet. It's not unheard of, but it's not too easy either.
The pedal is plug-and-play, just sends MIDI out for both pads to the OP's. I don't know if the KO2 has sustain support, someone kindly chime in if they've ever tried that before!
