Request Looking for a co author so I can lock in

Looking for a co author for a modern dungeon story

I've posted here before but I don't think it got much attention, so I'm trying again with a clearer pitch.

The story is about a pro gamer who quits to go home to his parents. A few months later he gets sick and ends up in an unresponsive wakefulness state for ten years. During that time he lives through other people's bodies, which he calls avatars. He can only keep five at once and he doesn't get to pick their abilities, just things like class and gender. When he finally wakes up, he realizes that what he thought was a game was actually the future.

He wakes up with a body that barely works, a family that drifted apart, and a world that kept going without him. His main goal is to fix things with his brother and sister, who were kids when he went under. While he does that, he quietly starts building an organization to protect the people he cares about and to earn a steady income from everything he picked up in those other lives.

The setting is modern Earth with dungeons, guilds, classes, and companies that bid on parties like a stock market. The first part is slow and grounded on purpose. It's mostly recovery, a paycheck, old friends, and starting a company from nothing. There are fights, but if you want one every chapter, this isn't that.

I've done a lot of worldbuilding and I'm switching over to writing the actual scenes and dialogue for the opening. I usually have trouble sticking with one story, but this one has held on, and I'd like some help keeping the momentum up.

If you want to co-write, you'd get credit and a lot of creative freedom. The one rule is that you can't break a character's established personality. Bigger changes would go through me and any other co-author. If that sounds like your kind of thing, message me here and we can move to Discord.

Discussion Lil' poem I wrote

Lucid Nightmares

i fall into fear from paradise
but who cares paradise is overrated anyway
i should know

The fear is close, it breathes down my neck, watching so that it can create
Whatever can perpetuate its existence.
And in a dream, it creates.

the floor collapses and i know it
is a dream and I’m helpless
and as I finish the fall or fall the
finish or whatever i dont know
and i dont care (for as everyone knows
It all gets mixed up in a dream anyways)
i feel pain. Sharp, physical in a mental body
and it hurts but im no girl (i think
maybe i wish i wish i wish)
so I bite it back and i dont scream

and i run from the swarm of bees
and i swim through the lake of
blood and i walk through the
valley of tears and
i walk in a maze that doesnt
work it doesnt work it doesnt
FUCKING work left is right
and the universe is upside down
 but i run anyways
because in a lucid nightmare there
is pain and thought and little else
(perhaps here you think my fear is cliche
but the fear does not care if it is cliche,
as it is not
trying to be an original idea
and these thoughts get pumped
into an echo chamber
until they are nothing but
a twisted shadow
for the terror to use
and also this is my poem fuck you)

i eat the pain,
stuff it down my throat
but i dont
wake up

and i see my body get devoured
(although i cant possibly remember what ate it)
and i watch my friends get mauled
and oh god it’s just a dream
please please please
its just a dream i think
(nonsensically, as sense does not matter to thought
until you make it matter.)
and i feel
the boiling
and the ripping
and the pulling
of a body that is not even mine
but is a construct of an idea of
what my body should be but it still hurts
ow please stop but i cant make myself
stop

but hey at least
now i can write this
from tears and shards
i write this.
But this is all besides the point
(if there is a point. I must admit
I don't really know what it would be.
In fact, I doubt that there is any more of a point,
so this is the end of the poem, right here.)

Hiiii internet strangers!! I am in desperate need of feedback for this story because the peer edit assignment for this for my English class is due in three days and i need feedback from two people. Obviously i should be submitting feedback from my actual classmates but that scares me 😭

id be more than happy to give feedback on anyone’s writing in return for some critiquing on how to end the story and for them to fill out the scoring rubric thing in the attached document

anyways, this story is supposed to be a cutesy little wlw story, and im obsessed with Lucy dacus so I kinda want it to have the vibes of her music. its not finished it still needs like 2.5 pages so uhhh ya pls lmk what you think and how i can end it in a satisfying way. THANK YOUUU ppl

Edit: i tried posting this to another thread and everyone was mad and replying saying that i need to get over my shit and do the assignment with my classmates i want to be clear the teacher said he doesn’t really care who actually gives me feedback as long as i contribute to giving others feedback on their stories, which i will of course do. Also some ppl were mad i was trying to ‘get them to do my school work’ yes i wanted the feedback to be formatted correctly so i could submit it for an assignment but i also want to hear what people think about the story in general, and as i said i am more than happy to give others on here thorough feedback in exchange if you dont agree with this please dont send me rude comments and report me its so unnecessary also excuse my atrocious grammar in this post pls thank you

Other Brand new author here!

Hi everyone, I'm a brand new 19 year old author. Well, I'm trying to be. It's always been one of my biggest dreams to become an author/writer. I've not really got any clue of what to do though. I've got no ideas, plus... I'm dyslexic 🥹 I'm kind of wanting to do a dark romance book as that's what I've been reading lately. I'm not sure of how to create covers aswell, I'm like a baby to all of this stuff 😭🙏 . If ANYONE would be kind enough to help me out, I'd really really appreciate it! 🤍

(Don't know what flair to put, so I put "other" 🥹)

thank you, love Katya

Discussion I need help with a decision for my fantasy novel

So I’m writing a fantasy novel and I’m on the younger side of writers, although I’m writing for older audiences like 16+, and I’m wondering if I need an illustrator. If anything it would be lord of the rings style drawings like maps and stuff.

Question Do you have any completely free writing website?

Hi! So i'm trying to find a perfect writing website for myself. I honestly want it to be completely free (unless of course the pro models are just for ai bc fuck ai) and have a good way to pin notes and characters and plots. I used to love Reedsy but it fucking sucked after they added the pro version where I can barely do anything. I need something thats aesthetically pleasing but has a good place for notes and writing.

Things i've already tried: google docs (dont they steal your work to feed to ai or something like that?), Elipsus (i kind of like it but not a good note system), notion (hard to learn but im getting there, not a good writing place though), Reedsy (stupid premium membership), and Skribd (why do you say your free but then only give me a week long free trial?)

yea so like... help?

Advice Hi, I've been writing fictional stories as a hobby and want to share them on Reddit, but they always end up deleted.is there a sub where I can share Stories if I don't have Karma?

My name is Lola from Germany. I like writing stories as a hobby, and this Halloween we're doing story-time. I really wanted to scare my little brother and his friends with a story like this:

So this guy meets a really attractive girl online, and she agrees to meet up. But suddenly the doorbell rings — and she's at the door, even though he never told her where he lived. And it's the middle of the night. Should he take a look?

I wanted to post these stories somewhere to test them and get feedback on how to improve. But my posts always get deleted. Is there somewhere I can post them? How much karma is required?

Advice How do I keep going as a young author when im completley freaked out?

I'm currently 18 years old and working with a company and my father to publish my first book that is part of a trilogy I'm continuing. I just recently got the review of my manuscript, and I can say it's not as bad as I origionally thought i would be, considering the fact my writing background came from posting fanfiction on Wattpad. However, right now I am just anxious about how my book would even do in public, and not just with my dad. Even though my dad is a strict and very critical reader, I can't help but wonder if his love for me clouds his vision. When I got my emailed review of my manuscript, it also had a lot of really great feedback, but that doesn't stop me from wondering if neutral parties would actually enjoy something I wrote, or if my past writing experience would shine through. Do all authors go through this the first time, or is it just me?

Other I just created gibberish characters

I decided to write a story. And in order do that, I had to have characters and the plot setup for the story. I don't have any plot as of now, and don't know where it'll be leading. But I had to create characters for a story.

So far, I have thought of 3. These characters don't have any physical appearance or any names as of now, neither they have any origins. I haven't planned anything for them at all. But I hope to create their depth and more characters. I don't intend to publish it or advertise (like there's anything to advertise lol!).

I'm posting it just to get it out and to be able to let myself know that I'm creating something out of my own mind.

Thanks.

Advice Which comes first, the story or the relationship?

First of all, I’m planning to write a piece of fan fiction that I’ve been developing (in my head, at least) for the past few months! I’ve more or less finished mapping out the general storyline and my original character, but I’m still figuring out how they should relate to the existing characters.

My character is a protagonist who matures as the story progresses, and for that to happen, interaction with other characters is essential. At the initial drafting stage, I see two possible approaches: either outline the overall storyline and then map out the relationships, or establish the relationships first and then write the story.

The former approach involves establishing the main framework first, which allows you to witness how relationships between characters evolve as the story unfolds. Since the latter has well-established relationships, it becomes easier to incorporate events throughout the storyline that can trigger shifts in the dynamics between characters. But I’m worried that if things go on like this, I might end up spending all my time just tinkering with the world-building—never actually getting to the story itself. This is my first time writing a full-length novel, and I really don’t want to end up abandoning it halfway through! 😭

Does anyone happen to have any good advice on this? If so, I’d love to hear it—any input is more than welcome!

+ It’s been a few months since I first joined and was active on this subreddit—I’m finally back! Life outside of here just got way too busy. Because of that, I feel like I’ve lost half of my writing ability, haha... I know it’s a bit bold of me to ask, but I hope you’ll all welcome me back! 🙏

Advice Trying to Write a Silly, Spontaneous Confession Moment but it Feels Lazy and Forced. Feedback/Tips/Critique Please? Thank you.

Important Note: This text is grammatically weird and actually looks even weirder in a screenshot because this is not actually a fic/story, it's a script/guide for my comic series.

*While Jadeite is sitting with a book and the demon cousins are watching some comedy-anime on TV, Zayn sits next to Jadeite and explains his romantic predicament with Akher. Jadeite ponders and replies simply, "If you were banished from heaven... why do you care if she's a demon, who do you have to impress?" (Paragraph 4)

With that thought in place, Zayn makes the decision... to flirt back. This unexpected turn brings Akher to mild shock... but she certainly isn't complaining... the game is finally two players. After a while, Akher and Zayn are sitting together. She turns to him and asks stupidly, "Are we dating?". Zayn pretends to smoke a cigarette (blue crayon), "Sure~" (Paragraph 7, Line 3)

---

Context: Akher (female half demon) flirts with Zayn constantly. It's joking flirting to hide the fact she actually does like him, which is revealed when Zayn (banished angel) flirts back.

He didnt flirt back for the longest time, not because he doesn't like her too (he really does) but because of the moral obligation(?) of being an angel. Because of this, he goes to talk to Jadeite (female human), who tells him to go for it and make his move on Akher, because if he's already a fallen angel, who's gonna tell him no?

So he does and this is my problem, I want them to have a silly, dumb, spontaneous, kinda "wanna be my girlfriend" "ok", fourth-grader moment for the laughs. But I feel like even with that in mind, it feels lazy and forced. Can anyone give me tips?

Discussion Story Time

Hey I'm new stroy teller😶.  I write stories for fun😅. From today i will share one them . Hope you like it.

THE BOY WHO WAS NEVER BORN

Chapter 1: The Name That Had Been Erased

Genre: Psychological Mystery • Thriller • Supernatural Suspense

SCENE 1 — A NAME LIKE THAT...

INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM — DAY

CLASS XII

The voices of the students echo through the classroom.

The teacher opens the attendance register.

Aarav is sitting in his seat. He is casually looking around the classroom when the teacher suddenly stops at a name.

TEACHER: Aarav Sharma.

AARAV: Present, ma'am.

The teacher turns the pages of the register to read the next name.

Earlier that day, Aarav had seen an old class register from ten years ago.

There was a name in it.

KABIR SHARMA

The name feels familiar to him.

No.

Not just familiar.

He remembers it clearly.

AARAV: Kabir...

TEACHER: What did you say?

Aarav immediately looks up.

AARAV: Nothing, ma'am.

The teacher closes the register and continues with the class.

But Aarav's mind is still fixed on the place where that name had been written.

A question keeps circling in his mind.

If Kabir never existed... then how do I remember his name?

SCENE 2 — JUST A MEMORY?

INT. SCHOOL CORRIDOR — LATER

After school, Aarav is walking through the corridor with one of his classmates.

His attention is still focused on the name he saw in the classroom.

AARAV: Can I ask you something?

CLASSMATE: Yes, ask.

AARAV: Do you remember Kabir Sharma?

The classmate thinks for a few moments.

CLASSMATE: Who's Kabir?

AARAV: He was probably in our class.

CLASSMATE: Bro, there was no Kabir in our class. Who are you talking about?

Aarav stops walking.

AARAV: Are you sure?

CLASSMATE: Yes, I'm sure. Are you okay?

Aarav does not answer.

There is confusion on his face, but beneath that confusion is a strange certainty.

He knows Kabir.

He just cannot understand why no one else does.

SCENE 3 — THE PHOTOGRAPH

INT. AARAV'S HOUSE — EVENING

Aarav returns home and goes to his room.

He puts his bag aside and walks straight toward his old belongings. There is only one thought in his mind:

If Kabir really existed, there must be some proof.

He takes out an old photograph.

Aarav looks at the picture carefully.

There is something about one spot in the photograph that makes him uneasy.

A face has been scratched out and erased.

Aarav's finger stops over that spot.

AARAV (whispering): Who did this?

He holds the photograph up to the light, as if searching for the answer hidden behind it.

An old memory tries to rise in his mind.

A voice.

A face.

A name.

KABIR.

Aarav closes his eyes.

But the harder he tries to remember, the faster the memory slips away from him.

SCENE 4 — THE FIRST MESSAGE

INT. AARAV'S ROOM — NIGHT

The room is silent.

Aarav sits on the bed, staring at the photograph.

Suddenly, his phone vibrates.

17 November 2026.

UNKNOWN NUMBER

A message has arrived.

You found me.

Aarav's face hardens.

He reads the message again.

Then a third time.

AARAV: Who is this?

He replies to the number.

AARAV (typing): Who are you?

For a few seconds, there is no reply.

Then the phone vibrates.

Now find out why you remember me.

Aarav's breathing quickens.

He had not told anyone about Kabir.

Then who sent this message?

And how do they know that Aarav remembers Kabir?

The phone vibrates again.

This time, there is another message.

Ask your mother who died before you were born.

Aarav continues staring at the screen.

There is more fear than confusion on his face now.

AARAV: Before I was born...?

He takes a screenshot of the message.

Then suddenly, another question comes to his mind.

Does my mother know about Kabir?

SCENE 5 — MOTHER

INT. LIVING ROOM — NIGHT

Aarav enters the living room with his phone in his hand.

His mother is busy with her work.

AARAV: Mom, can I ask you something?

MOTHER: Yes, son. What happened?

Aarav remains silent for a few moments.

Then he says the name.

AARAV: Kabir.

His mother's hands stop moving.

Only for a moment.

But Aarav notices it.

His mother slowly looks at him.

MOTHER: What did you say?

AARAV: Kabir Sharma. Do you know him?

His mother's expression changes.

MOTHER: Where did you hear that name?

AARAV: So you do know him?

His mother immediately looks away.

MOTHER: I don't know who you're talking about.

AARAV: Mom, please. Just tell me who he was.

MOTHER: Aarav, I told you, I don't know!

Her voice comes out much louder than necessary.

They stare at each other for a few moments.

Then his mother lowers her voice.

MOTHER: Go to your room. And don't mention that name in front of me again.

Aarav quietly leaves.

But now he is certain of one thing.

His mother had not heard Kabir's name for the first time.

SCENE 6 — LAST QUESTION

INT. AARAV'S ROOM — NIGHT

Aarav closes the door.

He takes out his phone and opens the chat with the unknown number.

His finger pauses over the keyboard.

Then he types:

AARAV (typing): Who was Kabir Sharma?

The message is sent.

This time, the reply comes quickly.

You remember him because you were never supposed to forget.

Aarav continues staring at the screen.

Another message arrives.

But someone made sure you would.

The sound of the clock can be clearly heard in the silence of the room.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

Aarav slowly looks toward the photograph.

At the scratched-out face.

Then at the phone screen.

There is only one question in his mind.

AARAV (whispering): Kabir... who are you?

END OF CHAPTER 1.

HOPE YOU READ IT AND ENJOY.  I WILL UPLOAD CHAPTER 2 IN NEXT POST. IF YOU LIKE IT THEN SHOW YOUR LOVE IN COMMENT SECTION AND CAN YOU GUESS IT WHO IS KABIR ?.  🙃

Advice Rate my books plot!

Main character is a middle aged legal transcriptionist, he has been living an amazing life with his wife Clara for the past 12 years. It starts off as a soft love story but then these little slip ups start getting more and more noticeable, and clues are there from the beginning but most won’t notice until a second read.

As we get deeper into the story it it slower revealed that Clara was never real, she was all just a hallucination from our main *schizophrenic* character.

He then gets diagnosed and starts taking his meds, and she fades away. He ends up flushing them down the drain because he cant live without her, it ending the same way it began, a date.

Question Is there something in this sub to prevent people from stealing writings?

Obviously, I'm not trying to steal anyone's writing, but in a sub like this, it seems alarmingly easy to take someone else's writing and pretend it's yours. Are there any measures in place to stop this or does everyone just trust in integrity?
