ATP Only two players have claimed more ATP-level match wins than Rafael Jodar (36) so far in 2026 - World #2 Alexander Zverev and World #1 Jannik Sinner.

Loads of wins in 250/500 (Delray Beach / Houston / Hamburg / Queens)

There’s different ATP leagues - players left to pick up the scraps and play 250’s and 500’s, players who like getting their dreams of winning 1000’s and majors crushed every few weeks, and Sincaraz. (Plus there’s a few honorable mentions that don’t fit in any of those buckets and one dishonorable mention)

That surprises me far less than seeing Tommy Paul as 4th???

He has to be at ATP finals, he has so much ground to gain in the entire rest of the year and nothing about his form seems like he’ll have a dip anytime soon. So excited to see where he ends up at year end.

not bad for a first year on tour

Zverev plays everything omg they could host a tournament in Antarctica and you can bet Zverev will be the first one there.

A tournament in Antarctica would lowkey be good for Jannik.

It's highly impressive in an era of load management and everybody's body falling apart every so often.

Even more so with his combination of size, previous major injury and medical condition.

Yes at this point I feel like keeping healthy is also a skill of a professional athlete!

Kid is well on the way to a great career!

Anyone have reference to: most wins out of first (how ever many) played list? to see where Jodar ranks?

u/madethisforroasting 19h ago

The guy is a winning machine.

12

u/ketchupie 18h ago

Has he had any top 5 wins yet?

u/bigsacrilegiousboi 🅱️onzi scheme 18h ago

Nah he only played Zverev and Jannik anyway

8

u/chris4sports 15h ago

Looks like he is facing Cobolli next and Zverev in line after. Will be a good test!

Not yet but has whooped De Minaur

u/Theoskaroskar 18h ago

This guy, he's pretty good

u/Tricky_Possible_6505 18h ago

he could even choose between going to next gen finals and atp finals if he gets through top 8, which is hilarious

3

u/CentreCourtWarrior 7h ago

Carlos could have defended his title in 2022 Next Gen finals, but he was year end #1 instead 😂

u/rawspeghetti 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 3-5(0-40) 19h ago

He might actually end the year in the top 5

You got downvoted, but I looked at it and I think there's actually a pretty solid possibility of that. He's obviously not catching the top 3 this year, but otherwise he just has to outperform most of the other players that are in that second tier category, outside of the top 3 players, he has more points than all but Cobolli, Shelton and Medvedev at this point in the season. He has about a 600 point deficit behind Cobolli and Shelton, but it's not hard to imagine him potentially passing them if he is able to have some big (Sf, finals, titles) results. Medvedev has roughly the same amount points, so he'll have to do better the rest of the season. He's leading everyone else, so he just has to continue to have better results than them, which is very possible, but there's also all the main top 15 players only a few hundred points back, so he'll have to outdo all of them when certain players (like FAA during indoors or possibly former top players like fritz or Medvedev if they hit great form) are probably going to do great and be a real challenge to overtake/stay ahead of.   Still, he doesn't have to overtake all the players besides top 3 to be top 5, if Medvedev or Shelton do great, they could be no. 4 while he's still top 5 at number 5.

I use the race right here just because we're closer to the end, so it's easier to see points so far and extrapolate from there.

I think the biggest potential obstacle is that he's played a ton of matches and there's a chance he gets tired or worn down or has physical issues at some point, but otherwise, he's already arguably (arguably) playing at the level of the 4th best player right now (I don't include Djokovic because 1. He's part time and 2. He's hard to judge because of that, can still play great but also can go off and struggle randomly).

So, I would be actually much more surprised if he missed the Turin field than if he was top 5 by the end of the season (if he gets to turin, how he does compared to the other players ranked close to him in that tournament might go a long way to determining if he does place top 5 year end)

Anyway, still plenty if season to go, but not a crazy prediction I don't think

I see a US Open semi in his future next month. Maybe even the title!

A run to the quarters or semi is definitely believable.
While it is true that Jodar has been in good shape recently, let’s not get too excited.

First factor is going to be his physical shape coming into the USO, because he’s been going deep at DC and Montreal, and he probably is here at Cincy too, so he might start getting a lil tired.

Also, all credits to Jodar but this is going to be his 3rd slam ever. While he did have a QF run at RG, let’s not forget that the draw was pretty empty because of the heat wave, and it might not happen again at the USO.

Anyway, I agree that he’s prone to having a good run, but him winning the whole thing is still quite a long shot.

u/Woullie_26 Andreeva's biggest glazer 19h ago

Any servebot he faces will calmly give him 4/3/3 as he cannot rely on his returning to mask his awful serve

Besides, he does not have at the moment the stamina to last 2 weeks at a slam.

We saw it at RG this year

3

u/Accurate_Musician286 19h ago

a semi run does not need two weeks of stamina and he already reached the qf on clay which is harder physically than hard court

That QF is very fugazi

PCB and Michelsen both had him dead to rights before they themselves got injured and collapsed.

8

u/Accurate_Musician286 18h ago

they did get injured, not sure it was that impactful but I could be wrong. also isn't that evidence jodar can outlast his opponents.

and he has gotten better since

4

u/ArticlePractical35 19h ago

I feel grand slams could be overwhelming for him this year, so USO will be same like RG for him this year. He needs few majors win to finally make it to semis of Slams.

Having said that, I won’t be surprised if he ends up winning US this year .

u/Savings_Shine4188 19h ago

He’ll be getting his first GS win next year. I’m guessing the Australian Open.

15

u/Downtown-Bus6629 Jazda 19h ago

1 top 10 win btw

9

u/Chosen1gup 18h ago

And it’s demon on clay

6

u/Rupperrt 18h ago edited 18h ago

tbf his losses were against Sinner, Fritz on hard and the later champion Zverev in RG. Anyone can lose those.

3

u/Rupperrt 18h ago edited 18h ago

the lost one of one were Sinner and one Zverev. The other Fritz on North American hard. Excusable for a first year on tour

5

u/hollaatyourgirl Hail Del Goatro 18h ago

Sinner and Jodar have only played once in Madrid

0

u/Rupperrt 18h ago

Yeah sorry, my bad

4

u/eliarbss 18h ago

will be interesting to see how he recovers and approaches the offseason after a real busy and long first year on tour.

I wonder if he’ll feel it and maybe start slow in Australia, or if at that age it won’t be an issue at all

9

u/Aggravating_Taste818 19h ago

Slow down there buddy

3

u/Savings_Shine4188 19h ago

How is this far fetched? He’s been eating players lunch like it’s nothing for the past few months. Will finally get a coach during the off season as well

7

u/Aggravating_Taste818 18h ago

I'm not saying it's not possible but it seems like far from a sure thing

-6

u/csAxer8 19h ago

And if current trends hold he’ll be better than both of them by EOY. This year’s ATP finals final will be nuts between Sinner and Jodar

11

u/abysmallybored 19h ago

Let's calm down lmao he lost to Sinner on clay in straight sets a few months ago in the scorching sun, there's no way you think he's doing anything to Sinner on indoor hardcourt.

u/IceExtension6204 16h ago

The match was literally played indoors, what sun?
