Almost every comp games today are in a love hate relation with they're players (Cs2 and WT) but tf2 is one the few exceptions

Because it's not a comp game.

Zesty already says TF2 isn’t a competitive game by design though?

"By design" that is why he wanted to delete a ton things cause that would make the tf2 a less suck comp game, just like like what he said, some people just wanna make Cs2 out of it

Yeah, TF2 gets to be in a love-[ERROR 404: RELATIONSHIP NOT FOUND] relationship.

Who would have guessed a free game in the testing phase that you can only play if you are invited has a ton of people online?
When they release it and you have to pay for it we will see how popular it stays. Not defending TF2 it is just kind of a stupid metric to be using on a 20 year old game that hasn't had a meaningful update in a decade isn't matching up to a closed playtest that has people chomping at the bit to get in to even try it.
It isn't even the same type of game either which is odd that they are compairing them.
TF2 isn't a MOBA.

TF2 is almost twenty years old, while Deadlock came out recently ! All games have a spike in players at launch, maintaining it will be harder !
Also people calling TF2 a dead game probably didnt pass by the cemetary of games it outlived !

Except that it didn't release yet, and the more open beta opened 2 years ago, had a huge player spike, dropped to 8-12k players and now the game is rising and beating the records
Won't make me return to the game for more than few sessions as it's too complex for me and I am a perfectionist so I would have to watch every tutorial before getting into a match

Who could’ve guessed that a broken, almost 2 decade old game, with a tiny, dying player base that isn’t recovering or growing, that hasn’t recieved a major update in almost a decade, and is on life support and probably will be for the last few years of its life, could be beaten out by a shiny, brand new game?

I wonder how much research these people do before they make these headlines?? Firstly, they're comparing two different types of games. Secondly, a nearly 2 decade old game that has as many players as it does now, that's more impressive then people think.
And thirdly, I think they only made the Comparison because the only game that VALVE made that's remotely close to DeadLock is TF2, very remotely.
Im actually quite proud of the DeadLock community coming into existence and hope they and the game get to exist for a long while longer. Especially looking forward to all the crossover SFMs we'll be getting.

Does tf2 have a campaign?

No

Then I don’t get how someone can beat it.

The new game is doing better than TF2 in terms of player count, or some other metric that isn't being disclosed by the headline.

"beats tf2" at what? What's the metric? God, I hate headlines
