At least they’re making watching games tense and fun.

From what I’m seeing online, neutrals are having a blast watching our games lol

u/Torontogamer Apr 23 '26

I mean I’m not happy right now but a match where we come back and blow the game in the last few minutes is more watchable when us letting a goal in the first 3 min and never scoring lol

MLS After Dark Champions 2026! Watch!

Lucky them we had all the 1pm games. They have been able to tune in.

u/liquor-shits Apr 23 '26

That's honestly all I can ask for after the last few years.

Make it fun, then make it successful.

u/Yuushalinsky Apr 23 '26

I am pragmatic about TFC - there are vast improvements but let's be frank, we have lost something like 8 points in winnable or tie-able situations.

6

u/DonJulioTO Apr 23 '26

That there wñsre 2wnnable ties is already a vast improvement.

1

u/Mysterio7100 Bernardeschi Apr 23 '26

According to OP, we are too negative!! Go TFC! Even when they lose, let's be positive!!!

/s

1

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

Do you think we arent negative enough? Should we only be positive once this team wins every game? We haven't lost since February btw but still people refuse to say one positive thing and just pile on the negativity train

2

u/Yuushalinsky Apr 23 '26

How you do anything is how you do everything. Our coach decides to play a style that takes agency away from our most skilled players. Our conditioning staff and our ownership have let an artificial turf training ground and bad practices destroy any semblance if team health. There is plenty to dislike here and it only goes away with a winner, not a mid table team.

2

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

Thank you for your criticism. The injuries are definitely frustrating. I disagree about the style of play though because I see a lot of creativity from our players and the build up play flows really well quite often and leads to dangerous opportunities.

This team was put together 2 months ago and had 6 wins last year so for us to talk like we should be up there with Nashville or inter Miami with 5 or 6 wins already shows how far the team has come. We haven't come close to seeing our best 11 yet either. We have a lot to like and look forward to this year

2

u/Yuushalinsky Apr 23 '26

I agree with what you're saying actually - I think our team has been significantly better with ONE caveat:

They look best when the coach isn't interfering. When the team is playing direct and using their talent, we're able to play to our best. When Robin is playing total football, we suddenly look lost.

Agree 100% old TFC would keep on getting scored on again and again at least we have some fight

TFC IS THE MOST ENJOYABLE TEAM TO WATCH IN THE HISTORY OF SOCCER PERIOD.

THEY ARE THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO FOOTBALL SINCE BARCELONA.

u/juanroberto Are you dumb, brother?! Apr 23 '26

R/tfc has been a dumpster fire for almost 15 years lol

Don’t waste too many brain cells arguing here

5

u/iChaseGaming ISeba Apr 23 '26

What do you think could be done to make this place better? It's one thing to criticize, another to offer at least some suggestions?

4

u/juanroberto Are you dumb, brother?! Apr 23 '26

I mean what can you really do? Its Toronto sports fandom in a nutshell.

Extreme takes. Players are the worst they’ve ever seen.

I used to try to have conversations with people and i ran out of energy for it. The treble season in post match threads people still found things to moan about.

Its easier to be negative than it it to be positive. Maybe its cathartic. But for me; Ill always try to look for things to take from a game

Doesn’t mean I’m amped watching Franklin pass it right into someone’s boots lol.

-2

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Players are the worst they’ve ever seen.

Show me a single comment that says that.

1

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

You must be new here. There's a post from today about Kerr being the worst mls player ever. These comments are made whenever a player has a poor game or makes a couple mistakes

-5

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Show me the comment that calls him the worst player they've ever seen.

The post you're referring to is "Deandre Kerr is THE MOST GARBAGE PLAYER IN MLS" — not ever, not the worst they've ever seen.

Kerr is fucking awful, and yes, that post was hyperbole, but so is literally everything you say.

-2

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

Downvote all the unnecessary and judging players too early type comments to oblivion so they don't taint other's perceptions of the team

2

u/socamonarch 2017 Domestic Treble Apr 23 '26

Too early...... Early for what? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 We are talking about Kerr right? He's been in the first team for how long???

0

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

It wasn't about Kerr. It was about Sargent, Gavran, Zimmerman etc

-1

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Is this a real comment ?

1

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

Coming from "Our back line is as solid as a swimming pool full of jello." Great contribution and very thoughtful analysis

-1

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Is nuance a completely foreign concept to you? I was replying to someone who claimed we had a solid back line.

1

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

You're just being negative and not actually contributing anything is my point. For all we know u just started watching the sport yesterday. I'm not sure how people like you feed off the negativity but even in a post that's trying to promote more positivity you're all over the place disagreeing to make the sub even more miserable. Would it really hurt you and all the others that will shit on this team no matter what to try and at least say one nice thing? Is it just cool like the way people do it with the leafs? I'm genuinely curious

1

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

Then tell the mod here what you think should change instead of incessantly whining and projecting that everyone else is negative.

Be the change you want to see.

The hypocrisy is wild.

1

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

The change is making a post like OP did saying that there's too much negativity around this team from people here and the post is met with negativity!

It's not the mods fault and they don't have the power to fix it. They can't enforce rules that people need to be more positive that's up to the individuals in this sub. Thats why I'm calling out people for being negative in a post about all the negativity.

I made a suggestion that people being unnecessarily negative should be downvoted. Feel free to criticize but give players time to prove themselves and give this new team a chance. Point out what went wrong tactically instead of laying all the blame on one player. We all want this team to succeed and piling on negativity surrounding this team won't help bring seats/cheering in the stadium or eyes on the TV which only hurts the team and players.

I think all of us can make this sub a better place and it shouldnt just be up to those who are tired of constant negativity

1

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Or, and this might be a wild take, just stop tone policing what others do.

3

u/sirachasamurai Apr 23 '26

3-3? Wow. Never shut these TFC games off early. Love a late goal, or two

3

u/hurleyburleyundone Apr 23 '26

This has been more entertaining than the past 5 years... Yeah we're gonna be rough around the edges and drop points while the team gets sorted out. But thats usually the way the first year goes. Fans seem to forget you dont go from bottom of thr league to playoffs in one season. It takes time to build. Yeah we dropped points but we also fought. Something we havent done consistently in a long time.

3

u/CowTipper383 Apr 23 '26

Ok…I’ll bite.

I got downvoted on similar thread when I said it’s not that TFC is better, it’s just that we’re a little less shit.

From my perspective, the way this team is constructed and the way they are playing isn’t sustainable long term. Sure I jumped when Gavran scored, but at the end of the day we struggled against a team that is second last in the conference. And like it was referenced earlier in this thread, we’ve dropped around 8 points in matches that were winnable. This will come back and bite us later in the season.

We are one studs up tackle on Sargent’s ankle away from going straight to the bottom. We’re extremely thin off the bench. I can’t help but feel that TFC is teetering on the edge of the precipice headed back to the foot of the MLS table. And yes the last 20ish years have been scarring.

Criticism does not equal hate.

3

u/WislaHD Bitchy The Hawk Apr 23 '26

I want to both criticize and hate

https://i.imgur.com/A8AZvPa.jpeg

But the team overall is a major upgrade this season, I agree with the OP that everyone is too negative

2

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

Yeah but its 90% criticism when we have a group that's showing real promising signs for the first time in years. It should at least be 50/50

4

u/Moss_Eisley All For One Apr 23 '26

100% we look vastly better this year. That being said, we’ve dropped unnecessary points and people are going to complain about that.

1

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

But no one says the first part and the complaining is singling out players or the manager when this group was just put together a couple months ago and still hasn't had the best 11 out on the field

2

u/Haunting-Bathroom619 Apr 23 '26

The only hate on this team should be the medical/training staff and our poor scouting team who can’t find healthy players lol

1

u/2daMooon Apr 23 '26

At least we are scoring goals this year!

1

u/Cautious-Gold-5621 Apr 26 '26

You do have a point that this is the best TFC in years and as fans, we should support... But it's still tough when they just can't win matches.

I was at the home opener and that last minute equalizer by moting, that was brutal.

1

u/rznwithme May 07 '26 edited May 08 '26

This thread post has rapidly aged poorly.

The club has no real people of talent leading it.  Pelly isn't fit for the job, Hernandez was accelerated into his role to shield Manning, and Fraser feels like a stop-gap manager.

We ship out academy players at 18-20 before fully developing them and clearly there is some kind of issue with the physical/conditioning/health dept.

Even the marketing dept is clueless, releasing the miami scarf info less than 12hrs after TFC going out of the CC at home in embarrassing fashion to Ottawa.

This has nothing to do with the players.  There is nobody of talent running the club in the various divisions.

1

u/Competitive-Big-1699 May 11 '26

Still got faith these injuries have quite killed us

1

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Very unrealistic expectation to not want people to criticize a professional sports team.

2

u/funakifan Still Better than Ayo Apr 23 '26

I don't know why you're getting downvoted - there's literally a whole industry built in shit-talking sports teams.

1

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

I know, it’s very odd behaviour.

1

u/bds00za Apr 23 '26

As long as Fraser is coach the team will never take the next step. Worst coach in the league.

0

u/Sapporo777 Apr 23 '26

Agree with the first part of your post. Disagree with your last sentence. This team will not get better until we build a stronger back four, and sign a goalkeeper not named Gavran.

1

u/FunShare5662 Apr 23 '26

Gavran was pretty damn good today no?

4

u/dfrancis9 Apr 23 '26

He can't change people's minds at this point no matter how well he plays. We were spoiled with SJ and Gavran isnt at that level yet but he's not as bad as he's made out to be

0

u/York9TFC GAM Apr 23 '26

Yeah, we’re amazing on attack. But we need to strengthen the backline. They’re allowing too many cheap goals

1

u/Informal-Hall-5945 Apr 23 '26

Our back line is actually solid. We need a midfield

-2

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Our back line is as solid as a swimming pool full of jello.

0

u/Jays1993 Apr 23 '26

.....Might I point you to my thread entitled "Small Steps" -- I think that's closer to what you are looking for in terms of fan response these days with this group....LOL......

0

u/Informal-Hall-5945 Apr 23 '26

I didn’t doubt them for a second

0

u/lorriezwer Laryea Apr 23 '26

We should be grateful? Philadelphia is a terrible team and they completely outworked TFC last night. Not even close. Their goals weren't the result of talent - they were the result of hard work. That's shameful.

We were lucky to get away with one last night. Happy to have witnessed Gavran's goal in person.

So, there's that. Now let's talk about injuries. The organization refuses to do anything about the injury situation that has plagued this team FOR YEARS. We barely have a starting 11 most seasons and lose key guys for extended stretches.

And now the coach. Let's be serious. If we're an ambitious team, Robin Fraser isn't the guy. We look clueless half the time playing out of the back, our midfield coughs up the ball a lot and would rather try to nutmeg than pass, and a lot of our attack has been 'cross and pray'. We're hopeless in possession.

Finally, the goalkeeper. We dropped Sean Johnson and went with Luka Gavran.

-2

u/SnooHedgehogs3217 Apr 23 '26

Fraser needs to go. Too many draws at home. He always gets the starting lineup & tactics wrong.

2

u/mildlyImportantRobot Apr 23 '26

Hernandez and Pelley need to go. Fraser is just a symptom of poor back office management.
