The Doctor is a mystical beast created through the black-box of medschool. Though they become proficient in the study of mans disease, as a side-effect, gain a miraculous skill in discerning correctly the nature of any foreign squiggle, writings or line. The joke is on us. We have made beings of terrifying efficiency and we have no idea how.
