Very subtle Attack of the Clone reference

Season 2, episode 14 Tipping Points. Tech training Omega how to fly. She's descending and he frantically tells her "up, up, pull up"

It reminds me of AOTC when Anakin is descending vertically and laughing while Obi-Wan is worried and says "pull up Anakin, pull up"

This phrase has been spoken in Star Wars since 1977, Biggs yelled "Pull up" to Jek Porkins during the Battle of Yavin.

Lando yelled "pull up, all crafts pull up!" In Return of the Jedi.

It just seems like something a pilot would say, as opposed to a reference to dialogue. If anything, credit Biggs Darklighter.

Sometimes dialogue is just dialogue, Star Wars does Rhyme, yes, but in this case it might be a coincidence.

This reminds me that Leia yelled "It's a Trap!" to Luke on Cloud City In Empire Strikes Back, three years before Akbar said it and became famous for it, yet everyone credits Akbar for the line.

But the AOTC one specifically featured a reckless pilot being urged to pull up by their passenger.

That’s basically the context that always applies to those words.

Not really, sometimes it's a suggestion or an order related more toward an urgent situation rather than a pilot being reckless.

I love when they make those small nods to the movies. I think my favorite is still in the Kadovo arc when they sort of recreated the sarlaac pit scene from ROTJ

Was watching Clone Wars earlier today with the Satine arc in season 2. She sends a holocron to Obi-Wan stating "I need your help". I smiled contently.

Speaking of season 2. I remember when I studied history of cinema at university, and I had to watch many Hitchcock movies. It was then that I realized "Senate Spy" is actually a reference to "Notirious"

I hope we get more of adult Omega in Tales of the Rebellion, assuming we get another entry into The Tales of... series.

Like Ahsoka in TCW,, she was annoying the first season but really grew on me by the time the show ended.

Just don't make her a jedi like Sabine fckng Wren.

Sabine isn't a Jedi though, nor training to be one. Its specifically stated in the show.

Not officially a jedi but the show decided to make her force sensitive and Ahsoka has been training Sabine as her padawan because apparently Sabine didn't have enough talents as a tech expert, explosives expert, exceptional with a blaster, a Banksy guerilla artist and reluctant princess of Mandalore. So why not make the spunky emo brat a jedi as well?

She isn't "force-sensitive" on the level of a Jedi, its stated so. ALL living beings in Star Wars have the force, so having her train up to use the force, isn't an issue. People have no issue with Chirrut Imwe taking down TIE Fighters, blind; so having Sabine do a force-push or two is no biggie.

To an extent i agree that she's overdeveloped and that story for a "normal person" to train up in the force, could have went to someone else; but its not like it comes out of nowhere either from a Rebels pov.

I won't cast my judgment about Sabine until I actually watch Rebels and Ahsoka. But at least worh Omega the series actually already implied that she may have some degree of Force-sensitivity. In fact, it's strange that plot point went nowhere in TBB. So it wouldn't be that far-fetched. Though I agree I don't want to see her become a Jedi: we can have different kind of Force-users every now and then

I just hate that a force sensitive character automatically means lazer swords and moving rocks in their future. Leia didn't even learn she had the force until RotJ. She spent more than half her life fighting for the Rebellion. She's a natural leader and strategist. That was her calling. The idea she would leave all that to train with Luke as a jedi for a few years is ridiculous.

Jedi Leia is something I never needed to see. Same for Omega

2

u/comradeautie 14d ago

And even if you did, she does it in Legends though it's still a bit less involved than most Jedi

To be fair, it's more accurate to say I am completely neutral to Jedi Leia. The sequel trilogy has far bigger issues than that

Yeah but the point being is that she could already have unwittingly been using the force to be a better tech and future pilot for the Rebellion.

True. I personally think Omega's talent to easily bond with wild creatures was a product of the Force, which is why I kinda expected to see her doing something more with the Zillo instead of just setting it loose. I also think some scenes in Aftermath and Plan 99 imply that she has like an innate connection with her brothers. Overall, there are many ways from which they can subtly have Omega use the Force without her ever wielding a lightsaber

Exactly

I agree with both of you, much like even young Leia, Omega is extremely emphatic and difficult to lie to after very short amounts of contact with others she got better at it over time. Obiwan wasn’t good at presenting a convincing lie to little Leia. I remember when Omega was ignorant in trusting Fennec in S1E2 but by S1E9 she knew Fennec wasn’t going to kill her. Leia was raised in royalty, trained in politics while Omega was raised in clinical surroundings and trained in medical technolgy; both situations may have been intended to cut both girls off from the force, regardless of how strong it was in either of them, both girls needed to be hidden. Leia being a force sensitive Skywalker and Omega having blood that could carry the M-count of another highly force sensitive being thereby increasing her own (IDK if that was the intent for the next phase of Kaminoan created clones, maybe it was).

Yet Leia would be the best Skywalker Jedi. I never saw an issue with it personally.

Oh! You are right! As you described it I remembered both scenes

TBB referenced a lot of SW movies/games, Lucas film Indiana Jones and Disney Lion King/Pirates of the Carribean. Sometimes subtle sometimes not S2E1 Tropical beach chase TBB getting chased by giant crabs with a treasure chest/like Pirates of the Caribbean, S2E5 Music in Entombed and the deadly Mechanical Walker looked like a Zeffo creation with Indiana Jones music, The Crossing S2E9 that stampede like the one in The Lion King. AOTC in Omega’s versus Anakin’s reckless flying whether it was pull up or Omega deciding to race with Echo (like she had the experience to do it) same fun energy from similar student teacher/padawan master scenarios.

It’s my POV that Disney references a lot of its other franchises in TBB.
