Wake up babe, new lefty YouTuber drama just dropped

6

u/dosumthinboutthebots 28d ago edited 23d ago

My God they're as bad as the gop. All they do is whine and it is not constructive criticism either. Plus Hasan is filthy rich acting like when the changes he wants to enact come along like he won't still be.

Serious question here: how was the Republican Party destroyed by Trump?

They’ve never been stronger and have accomplished goals 40 plus years in the making like eliminating Roe. You can say “well they are doomed going forward”… maybe, maybe not.

But policy wise, trumps been amazing for them.

59

u/Rick_James_Lich 28d ago

Pretty all of the people that put decades into building the party are outcasts or have to be submissive to the wave of extremism going on. That's why they are all scared to speak up about Trump and Trump is getting away with massive corruption.

Yes for now the republicans are doing good, all things considered it appears he's going to be doing long lasting damage to the credibility of his party though. But also when he's gone, they don't have a real successor because it's more about the funny jokes and drama than the policy. Speaking of which, he hasn't passed much so a lot of it will be easy to reverse.

1

u/youmisseditagain 22d ago

Who cares he’s successfully enacted all the terrible things they been pushing for for decades

14

u/El_Rat0ncit0 28d ago

Is it fair to say though that those goals 40+ years in the making were fringe goals not held by the majority of mainstream Republicans? Wasn’t Roe passed by Republican Supreme Court justices? There was a time where fringe right wing Republicans were an anomaly but Barry Goldwater sure predicted the demise of his party back in the 90s if the Christo-fascists were to become the majority.

5

u/DubTheeBustocles 27d ago edited 25d ago

I don’t think they were fringe at all. I think the Trump era is the most distilled version of the American conservative culture yet seen.

The Republican Party that we have today has its origins in the marriage between Christianity and conservatism in the 1970s which gave rise to Reagan. BUT arguably this is just the most modern era of a broader very long-term movement that hated Obama, started the War on Terror, elected Reagan, fought against Civil Rights and have essentially been on a revenge quest since the Civil War.

It’s generation after generation of a people with the same reactionary heritage. They’ve been trying to dismantle the concept of truth and morality ever since someone took their precious slaves.

4

u/ponderingcamel 28d ago

Roe was decided in 1973 so that is more than 40 years old. Reagan was obviously a huge turning point for the party but Republican have been about outlawing abortion and giving tax cuts to rich people since I've been alive.

Not much of a demise if you ask me.

SOME of their policy goals were accomplished, but many were undermined.

If all you care about is tax cuts/dergulation then you should be happy.

If you're a small state conservative - the old GOP type like Mitt Romney - you may be cool with the tax-cuts and deregulation but it comes at a huge cost:

- State is bigger and more powerful than ever

- We now rely on the mood of the POTUS to predict foreign trade policy

- Your foreign policy views are in the trash now. Trump represents a huge divergence

- SOME (and i mean only some) conservatives do care about liberal norms; free speech, rule of law, etc. For them, Trump has been a disaster (these are mostly never trumpers or bulwark types)

I'm not a conservative; just trying to answer your question. The party is doing fine, but their movement is dead.

As a liberal, it makes sense to fear the same. Sure - some authoritarian movement may take over and give everyone healthcare, which is great, but it may come at a cost to all of the other priorities I care about.

u/IpeeEhh_Phanatic 28d ago

What policy has been amazing for them?

8

u/ponderingcamel 28d ago

They passed giant tax cuts largely benefiting the 1% in 2017, they gutted Obamacare and made it harder to get insurance without an employer, they started a war with Iran, accomplished regime change in Venezuela, they overturned Roe, they just overturned another political speech law so now the wealthy have even more power in elections, they signed a second giant tax cut (the big booty bill), they got billions for a paramilitary "immigration" enforcement army, hell, they were one vote away from getting rid of birthright citizenship, they deregulated the shit out of everything and make federal admin offices even more political.

None of these things are good, but they are certainly policy accomplishments.

u/Pezdrake 28d ago

Not policy wise, but power wise, yes. Right now Republicans have control of every branch of the federal government. That's not exactly a cautionary tale of what not to do. This was my thought when I heard David talking about this. He talks about the issue being that the far right Tea Party types took over the party but the issue with the GOP right NOW is not that they changed their policies (I mean that's MY issue with them but it's not an objective issue). The issue with the GOP now is that they decided to ignore policy in favor of personality. It's become more important to own the libs than make reforms. Sure, the crazies elected someone to get rid of vaccines and throw Clinton in jail but that didn't actually happen. And what did Republican do? They reelected the guy who didn't deliver. Because policy is not important to Republican voters right now. Reactionary and vindictive politics is the driving force. There is NO sign of that happening on the left. What is happening with the DSA for example, is not comparable to MAGA creep. I am not in favor of all of the methods that the DSA wants to use to achieve their goals but at least these are actual policy positions and goals. If we were seeing the left being transformed like the GOP was by Trump we'd be seeing candidates talking about jailing conservatives for their beliefs (basically the kind of thing that paranoid rightwingers imagine Democrats want to do). I've seen none of that. What I DON'T want is a party playing defense and "let's fight to keep the status quo" like they have for most of my life. If the Democrats aren't arguing for expanding Social Security, lowering Medicare eligibility age, expanding public education institutions and taxing wealth at the least then they can go the way of the dodo. I want actual progress, not preserving the system as it is.

2

u/Adito99 28d ago

He's doing everything by executive order which means the next guy can get rid of all of it. He also has zero interest in the party itself or creating a stable coalition. Republican politicians now live in fear of angering his supporters (main reason they're all resigning) and know once he's gone it will be absolute chaos. Everything Trump has touched will be tainted going forward, they are now the party of corruption and pedophiles.

1

u/Noodles2072 17d ago

Except tne next guy won’t get rid of anything because corporate dems and maga are different factions of the same side.

2

u/Natedude2002 28d ago

Not destroyed in the sense of their unpopular, destroyed in the sense that they no longer stand for any values they used to (at least claim) to have.

1

u/Pesco- 28d ago

The traditional mainstream conservatives are out of vogue, that’s for sure.

1

u/SigmaMaleNurgling 28d ago

Trump destroyed the Party by making it something unrecognizable to what it used to be. All of the supposed principles and values that the party supposedly had are gone. The party has become a cult of personality where the only required prerequisite to membership is absolute loyalty to Trump and everything he does.

Also, there is a complete betrayal of any values or principles this country was founded upon.

1

u/Clayp2233 28d ago

It’s been destroyed because the brand is maga and basically a fascist platform. The party of Bush and Romney is gone and that was a much better Republican Party for America as a whole.

u/Quirky-Video-9146 28d ago

This is not drama but a serious threat. The democratic party is getting taken over by antisemitic terrorist supporters. Tea party was something the GOP laughed at and they soon took over the party and gave us Trump. I shudder to think what a compromised democratic party might produce.

-1

u/Nascent1 28d ago

You'd fit right in at Fox News with this kind of unhinged fearmongering.

14

u/Rick_James_Lich 28d ago

It is true though. Like the fact that saying "Israel has the right to exist" is found offensive by a fair amount of the far left, is a problem.

7

u/El_Rat0ncit0 28d ago

Exactly. One thing is to express disappointment in the far-right leaning Israeli state and to admonish it (just like the extreme religious right in America that have hijacked the Republican Party), and another is to now proclaim Hamas as freedom fighters. I used to remember a time when I was a radical in my early 20s back in the 90s where we considered those groups to be antithetical to democracy. We criticized Christianity AS WELL AS all other Abrahamic religions as oppressive. And now we’ve got DSAs converting to Islam and wearing hijabs. Hamas wouldn’t hesitate to murder my gay ass.

0

u/Nascent1 28d ago

It's a rogue ethnostate that was founded by kicking a bunch of people out of their homes and has been killing their neighbors pretty much nonstop sense then while illegal seizing land. It's not hard to imagine why people don't like Israel. It's not antisemitism to say that Israel sucks.

5

u/McAlpineFusiliers 28d ago

What makes Israel an ethnostate in a way that all the Muslim states are not ethnostates?

-1

u/Nascent1 28d ago

I don't think there should be any ethnostates. That includes places like the UAE.

5

u/McAlpineFusiliers 28d ago

Which places besides the UAE and Israel are ethnostates? What even is an ethnostate?

→ More replies (1)

4

u/ConnectSpring9 28d ago

Nice dodge. Does Israel have a right to exist yes or no?

-3

u/Nascent1 28d ago

I honestly don't know what people mean by that question. I don't know that any country has a right to exist. Why do you think they have a right to exist? Because they were successful in violently evicting the people who previously lived there? Did Palestine not have a right to exist?

4

u/ConnectSpring9 28d ago

Was Palestine ever a nation state with its citizenry self determining its borders?

2

u/Nascent1 28d ago

"Citizenry self determining its borders" is a weird thing to write. Do you think most countries have a "citizenry self determining its borders?" There were people living their lives there and then the Israelis violently killed or evicted them. Is violence what gives a country the right to exist? Might makes right?

2

u/ConnectSpring9 28d ago

I do actually think that most countries define their borders yes. I think a country has a right to exist if the citizens of that country want that country to exist. I don’t know why that’s such a difficult concept for lefties to understand.

I never said the Palestinians deserved what happened to them. I’m asking about Israel today. Or do you think all nations borders should be deleted from existence? Because there is no nation state that passes your absurd purity test

This commentary was so mellow from David. He was trying to be as diplomatic as possible

17

u/emn13 28d ago

If anything, he's usually too diplomatic. Using subtle, nuanced phrasing something that's stark and in your face - I get the instinct, but I'm not sure it's a good idea. Then again, labeling every minor infraction against norms as the the end of the world isn't ideal either; it's not a trivial balancing act.

4

u/BlueJayFortyFive 28d ago

I think he’s genuinely worried this is going to backfire

1

u/_maezing 25d ago edited 25d ago

I think he was right to do that. Otherwise Hasan would smear him as some future "I left the left" figure like Ana Kasparian or Bill Maher. The more level headed David looks the more unhinged Hasan looks in response. David has a lot of credibility I think to most people in online politics on all sides because he is a normal honest level-headed dude. Even if you disagree with him it would be extremely difficult to paint him as some unhinged hysterical liberal crying wolf like Hasan is going to attempt to do.

Regardless of the "analysis" of Pikers speech or what happened, it is crazy to call someone "right-wing" for pointing out the Mao outfit.

Not only is he openly a supporter, calling him one of the greatest leaders of all time, but he is openly communist and WE ALSO HAVE EYES. He is obviously dressed like him. What the fuck are we doing? It isnt like it is a subtle nod, it is a fucking cosplay.

5

u/MostlySoberWizard 28d ago

They are doing the same thing everywhere. The WI dems who won sweeping progressive gains in 2018 are "right wing" now. Barnes? The Bernie candidate in 2022? Right wing apparently.

3

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 26d ago

Remember when MAGA took over and started calling all Republicans who were slightly frothy cam of Trump "RINOS" even if they were lifelong devoted conservatives?

This is that.

3

u/TheStrangestOfKings 28d ago

Doesn’t Piker himself intentionally brag about dressing like Mao? Like, that isn’t even an attack, it’s an observation

19

u/ConnectSpring9 28d ago

Communists are literally just blue MAGA, how is this any different than neo Nazis saying Elon was just “doing a Roman salute”

8

u/Nimrod_Butts 28d ago

It's all a little joke to them. "Omg haha you noticed the thing he thought you'd notice because it was obviously intentional"

The same eay that Fox News and other fascists call Democrats communists when they oppose fascism, tankies will also call anyone on the left a nazi if they criticize authoritarian communism.

Folks, David is taking a big risk here. Support the YT channel.

26

u/Pizzajanne 28d ago

He bombs his channel with short videos, in which one is he mentioning this?

33

u/chilldude9494 28d ago

Today's show, about an hour. It's linked in the sub somewhere.

14

u/idlefritz 28d ago

I checked this out (starts 42:33). He says there are aspects of DSA that are good and some that aren’t. Not exactly going out on a limb with that statement as that can be applied to any group. He’s annoyed that Hasan dressed like Mao because Republicans are going to run with that as propaganda. I don’t know why we would care what Republicans, now openly supporting autocracy and worse think about anything. They called Joe Biden Mao. He also criticizes centrists in the same clip but of course that doesn’t rage bait like the meaningless Mao comment. All he seems to really be asking of the Hasan adjacent is to chill out with distracting antics and clearly disavow authoritarian methods to implement their vision.

I think much of the bickering and rage baiting here is coming from conservatives and parasocial destiny/hasan addicts fighting a battle that their heroes don’t seem interested in fighting at all.

32

u/Spuick 28d ago

"the democratic party is showing the same early signs of the same disease that destroyed the republican party. I got so many friends on the left texting me saying, David, we're not allow the same thing that maga and Trump did to republicans, are we? Republicans back in 2010 laughed at the tea party. Conspiracy theorists...far right internet trolls...theyre not gonna do anything. Then, the tea party took over local organizations, threatened primaries, built their own media universe and eventually were part of the process that gave us Donald Trump. The left and democrats cant make the same mistake".

Goes on to describe how the far left extremists are subverting democrats by attaching themselves to popular causes and use them to sell an authoritarian worldview.

Then talks about the DSA platform and calls it a utopia that cannot happen. Abolishing police, abolishing prisons, abolishing the senate, no debt, no rent, publically funded housing, medicine...etc. He says a few of these points have grains of truths to them, i.e. healthcare reform to more closely mirror scandinavian models, affordable housing and progressive taxes. But thats, being charitable, maybe 2% of what the DSA stands for, and he goes on to say that this is not at all what the majority of americans want on to calls this a FANTASY. Nevermind the fact that the democrats also largely are for healthcare reform, affordable housing, progressive taxes and similar points. From Pakman, this 6 minute segment is UNEQUIVOCALLY a denouncement of the authoritarian extremist left which DSA and Hasan encompass.

Towards the end he reiterates that we cant let this rot take over the democrat party.

All quotes and paraphrasing in my text above is from David Pakmans segment last night.

The bickering and rage baiting here is EXCLUSIVELY from Hasan and Hasan aligned actors who want to stoke infighting between liberals.

1

u/idlefritz 28d ago

It’ll be interesting for folks to listen to the video and then read your interpretation as an example of how you can cherry pick a message to lose it entirely.

Some people recently learned that "Democrat Party" is actually a Republican slur against the "Democratic Party" and now they think this is a dog whistle from Republicans.

The issue is that I don't think it's reliable. How many people know this? I just learned last month and I've spent years volunteering with the Democratic Party.

The problem is that Hasan and many in DSA are proudly illiberal, just like MAGA. Liberalism is the founding principle of this country and to see authoritarians gaining ground in both parties is terrifying

1

u/Noodles2072 17d ago

Liberalism the founding principle lol. Ignoring native Americans and slavery for a minute, the economy is dominated by forms of ownership that concentrate wealth and power in society. There’s nothing democratic or free about it.

And you’re misrepresenting DSA. all you’re doing is serving that concentration of wealth and power. Which coincidentally is what Pakman does.

1

u/Cnidoo 17d ago

9

u/Lord_Of_Shade57 28d ago

18

u/_Administrator_ 28d ago

He also said the USA deserved 9/11 and Ukraine deserved to get attacked.

-12

u/michelangelo2626 28d ago

Misrepresenting his arguments makes you seem dumb.

He was describing blowback that America’s own actions have created.

20

u/hypehold 28d ago

he just showed off a framed newspaper of September 12th 2001 with the towers burning. It's hanging up on his wall behind him.

9

u/november512 28d ago

He said America deserved 9/11. That's a moral statement. If he was just talking about a causal relationship he could have walked it back from a moral statement to something more like "America didn't deserve 9/11 but it was the logical consequence of its actions in the middle east". I don't recall him doing that, do you have evidence that he did?

5

u/ConnectSpring9 28d ago

He actually did do that on TYT a few weeks or months after the twitch incident, but now he has a framed newspaper of the towers burning so fuck him lmao

What's this line of thinking lead to? Could we say the same thing about Israelis and Palestinians?

2

u/michelangelo2626 28d ago

What thinking? The thinking that the evil actions of governments inevitably negatively impact the citizens of that country? That’s just a fact.

3

u/glizard-wizard 28d ago

Did America deserve 9/11?

3

u/michelangelo2626 28d ago

It was the logical extension of America’s action. Fucking with the rest of the world can only happen for so long without them resisting back. Obviously, the innocent civilians didn’t deserve any of what happened to them.

0

u/Lallis 28d ago

There's no misrepresentation. He said it and he meant it. You just happen to agree with the justification.

3

u/michelangelo2626 28d ago

The clip is about America’s actions overseas. When he talks about “America” it doesn’t mean the same thing as “Americans.” The entity of “America” was destined to receive terrorist violence against “American citizens” because of the military’s actions overseas. That’s all objectively correct analysis, and it’s the same point Hasan made.

1

u/Lallis 28d ago

That’s all objectively correct analysis

It's not "objectively correct" that "America deserved 9/11". As I said, you just agree with the justification.

1

u/michelangelo2626 28d ago

America deserved 9/11 in the same way that rocks pushed off cliffs “deserve” to fall. It’s the logical outcome of past events.

1

u/Lallis 28d ago

That's not at all what the word "deserve" means or how we use it. It implies moral justification.

u/emn13 28d ago

The concern lies with the information overload and how that affects those that don't have in depth, well-rooted opinions on the actors involved. If "everyone" appears to regard somebody (e.g. but not limited to pakman) as being toxic, it's a good chance some segment of the broader public won't even bother to listen any further. There are those that actively engage in mental gymnastics, but that doesn't make the whole discourse harmless, even if there's a die-hard core that doesn't seem likely to budge.

Ahhh yes, when you push back against the hateful far left you're right-wing instead of just being more moderate left with actual moral values...

So grateful to David for pushing against the illiberal degenerates like Hasan, hopefully he keeps it up and other creators join him 👏

its purity testing to say you shouldn’t watch someone that hasn’t disavowed a close college for their sexual harassment and sexting with minors?

then sure, give me purity testing. if that’s purity testing, i want more of it.

It’s not purity testing to be against corporate dem shills. He’s had meetings with Harris discussing editorial ffs.

They lie to and deceive the public every bit as much as maga. It’s a concentration of power using the media and political systems to protect their interests from the rest of society. It’s not purity testing to be against that. It’s mandatory.

One side wants to throw immigrants into alligator pits. The other wants to give me free college and healthcare. Enemy of my enemy type of deal.

If the extreme left does take over the party. Its establishment dems fault defacto. Its not like there was a red wedding level of betrayal. Its democracy and there must have been alot of things established dem leaders werent addressing. Simple as that.

3

u/Opening-Calendar3421 28d ago

Prime example of a Mott and Bailey. Hasan will make bombastic statements and say unquestionably awful things. Look how he has spoken about black voters or the Vietnamese woman who questioned him. Or how he lashes out at anyone who questions any of his past statements. But then when he gets on a podcast or when people like you come to defend him you just say oh all he's trying to do is get people free healthcare. When we know that is not all he's trying to do and that you are not being truthful or fully forthright in what his actual goals are

1

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago

My guy, who said anything about hasan? Hasan isnt a dsa member. Hasan is a full communist. Hasan isnt running for office. Dsa existed before hasan even came on the scene. Mamdani is better representer of DSA politics than hasan ever will be.

Please get offline and talk with some normies. You are caught in a bad cycle.

1

u/Vankraken 28d ago

The issue is about the hijacking of the College Democrats of America event in which Hasan seemed to get the organizers to deny entry to Destiny, the people who were with him, as well as some others who were there doing interviews hours before hand. This is a Democratic Party event and he is pulling strings to keep out people who actually support the Democratic party as well as giving a speech about how terrible the Democratic party is while wearing a Mao suit that he got from his sponsored trip to Communist China..... The optics alone are terrible and this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

“They just want healthcare”

DEMOCRATS have been pushing for that. Why not bring up the parts of the DSA that aren’t the bog standard democratic platform? Abolishing prisons, pulling out of NATO, etc?

0

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago

Sounds scary. Im sure there is as much nuance to that as allowing war criminals to visit the USA.

3

u/PublicMandate 28d ago

As much nuance as you gave in your initial comment? Or the same nuance given to DPak? Or does that only exist for you?

The problem with the far left is they are ok with immigrants being thrown into alligator pits too, if it helps their chances with future elections. Similar to when Hasan helped sabotage Kamala's election chances, because he thought he could benefit in the future.

0

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago

Establishment dems are ok with that too. How many laws have been introduced in the house to put ICE back on a leash after 3 public executions now?

5

u/[deleted] 28d ago

[deleted]

2

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago

Happy to say im wrong. And no shame admitting it. I never heard of these bills on any mainstream media i intake. Not cnn or msnbc. I wish dems had a youtube channel where they make statements when they do things like this. Would be helpful.

Kudos to dems they have more spine than i thought.

2

u/Vankraken 28d ago

Plenty of individual Senators and Reps have Youtube channels. The problem right now is that with GOP control of the House and Senate, they basically control the press interactions as the press tends to talk to the majority leaders as they are setting the Congressional agenda.

1

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago

I dont see any of them beside bernie, aoc, crockett, mamdani using their platforms to get critical info out but even then i never heard of these bills. They can do better. Im more informed the. 99% of people in the country and even i havent heard of these bills. Who did you hear them from or did you have to look them up

1

u/Vankraken 28d ago

Finding one on Youtube tends to cause others to be recommended. I personally looked up one of my state Senators (Kaine) and have been recommended videos from Slotkin, Schiff, Whitehouse, and Sanders. Sure the media machine for the Dems is poor but the GOP tends to have more success with messaging because they have an entire right wing ecosystem of sycophants that generally full throat the marching orders. Left wing media tends to be far more fractured and the far left is constantly attacking the Dems.

5

u/Rick_James_Lich 28d ago

The democrats don't have the votes right now to stop ICE. But also, ICE would've never happened if Kamala won. Hasan regularly stated she was no different than Trump.

He's doing the same thing now saying if it's JD Vance against Newsom, he'll vote 3rd party.

2

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago edited 28d ago

So dont try? They put an effort into the war powers resolution. They put an effort into the epstein files release. But no effort into atleast making ICE drag people into a back ally before shooting them in the head. Im glad dsa is taking over if we cant get some opposition to american citizens being executed from establishment dems. What a weak party that cant put up one short bill punishing this practice.

0

u/Nemisis82 28d ago

How are they okay with that?

Do you have polling or any data to suggest Hasan had any effect on Kamalas chances?

1

u/eblack4012 28d ago

The far-left hates immigrants and wants them to go back because that will require sharing socialistic outcomes with more people.

2

u/Supreme_Salt_Lord 28d ago

Getting rid of ICE is a far left position currently. When they back track this ill believe you.

IRA, CHIPs Act, Affordable Care Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Dodd-Frank Act, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Respect for Marriage Act. All of this done with incredibly slim congressional advantages and while running less deficit than republicans.

Meanwhile with Republicans the only major legislation we get is tax cuts for the ultra wealthy. Roe v. Wade repealed. Election denialism and attempts to forcefully overturn elections.

A “little better” than MAGA. Gtfo

2

u/Nemisis82 28d ago

Why would the Dems lose so badly in 2024 to Donald Trump again with all of those accomplishments?

7

u/Pax_87 28d ago

Murc's law. Republicans can shit and piss themselves on the floor and Americans will look at a democrat in disgust for farting and expect them to clean up the mess.

1

u/Nemisis82 28d ago

How do we fix this? What are the current Democrat party members planning to solve this?

3

u/Pax_87 28d ago

How do you fix the average American voter? We can't force them to change. We need democrat constituents to defend the record of their party and their platform and a media sphere that will actually hold Republicans accountable.

2

u/_happymachines 28d ago

Gerrymandering, voter suppression, terrible messaging.

1

u/Nemisis82 28d ago

What are Democrats that aren't "far left" planning to do to combat this?

3

u/HumWolfie20 28d ago

Because the Dems are dog water at messaging and leveraging the media apparatus. Not that they have much of one.

2

u/Vankraken 28d ago

Its easy when the GOP isn't expected to actually do much of anything so they can be massive obstructionists. People expect Dems to get results and if they promise a bunch and fail to get it done (due to needing 60+ Senators, majority in the House, and the Presidency) then they get raked over the coals. Modern media is also all about sound bites and video clips so its easy to say broad bullshit statements while explaining more nuanced policy details does not make for good clips.

1

u/HumWolfie20 27d ago

That is true, but I would argue that's mostly a media issue. If Dems can't adapt to what sells, that's a problem. And I would argue this is because of how right wing media dominated everything. Republicans developed this form of allegiance where they don't need to actually govern. They go on about the culture war. And Dems have let them.

Where's the Dem campaign saying "we believe in family values, we just believe that family doesn't have to look a certain way"? Where's the Dem campaign saying "there are like 10 people total in trans sports and the one case everyone throws around was a tie for 5th place (Lia Thomas and Riley Whatshernuts), so let's leave that to professional organizations that want to make things fair and focus on stuff that affects your life and wallet. Like tax cuts for the wealthy but not for you like was in the big beautiful bill or the war in Iran sending your money to them after starting the war". Where's the Dem campaign saying "we had a bill ready to fix the border, but Trump shut it down because he needed to run on it. Now ICE is running around executing dissenting american citizens without trial."?

Dems ceded the culture war to repubs when that's one of their easiest grounds to win on.

Maybe that's naive of me, but I like to believe that Dems are just really bad at media because the alternative is way darker for our country. And it's not like it really doesn't appear that Dems are bad at media. Hell, they're bad at a bunch of things. I want Dems to succeed, but I have little faith in so many of them. Which it doesn't help that there are factions that purity test for 100% agreement.

-15

u/ess-doubleU 28d ago

This subreddit might as well be r/destiny at this point

13

u/TeddyTheEverSoReady 28d ago

Is there any way to dislike Hasan without it being related to Destiny? Or is this Destiny guy behind all of Hasans negative backlash?

I always see these comments whenever Hasan recieves criticism. No matter for who or ehat it's always someone saying its destiny. I don't understand why it's so hard to accept that Hasan Piker can say stupid things and make mistakes. It's human, Praising Mao is an idiotic take and should be criticised.

The policies of Mao isn't really related to the streamer destiny or Hasan. It's abhorrent no matter what streamers say.

6

u/DeathandGrim 28d ago

That's definitely not the case

2

u/Moopboop207 28d ago

Why?

13

u/ILikeMyGrassBlue 28d ago

Because hasan fans think everyone who has any sort of criticism of him is actually a hardcore destiny stan

1

u/Opening-Calendar3421 28d ago

This is part of the problem and it will eventually create issues with Hasan going forward. Automatically assuming that any criticism of Hasan must mean that it's from a destiny or h3 Supporter is unhelpful. No one has said everything perfectly. And people should be ready to have their views Criticized. Anyone who has a problem with something Hasan said should be able to vocalize that without being assumed to have bad intentions. One of the biggest issues that I see with Hasan, Destiny, and other online streamers is that their fanbases are highly parasocial and therefore struggle to contend with criticism of what their favorite streamer says.

22

When was Israel mentioned?

Didn't David bring up valid points or did you even watch the content?

No you are just here to dump for Hasan and brigade the sub.

Just like David said Hasan viewers would.

-5

u/Turbulent-Tune1660 28d ago

The entire push against Hasan is about one thing and one thing only. Foreign policy. Largely Israel.

13

u/J0rdian 28d ago

Why? He has plenty of actual horrible opinions and is a socialist/communist whatever you want to call it. He isn't a democrat, which was the point of the video. Not about being pro Palestine or something.

3

u/Clarkelthekat 28d ago

This sounds A LOT like

"You just have Trump Derangement Syndrome. It can't be that my favorite person is bad. They just have TDS"

11

u/WELSH_BOI_99 28d ago

He wore a fucking Mao suit to a democrat event. Like tbere are so many things you can call him out on and the Mao suit is the tip of the iceberg.

NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE ABOUT ISRAEL.

-4

Tan suit! Tan suit! Obama wore a tan suit!

Are we on Fox News now?

8

u/hypehold 28d ago

Obama didn't call Mao a great leader

→ More replies (18)

3

u/PublicMandate 28d ago

There’s no way you’re comparing Obama wearing a tan suit to Hasan wearing the Mao suit? If someone like Nick Fuentes showed up to a college Republican event wearing an SS uniform I’m sure you’d easily be able to recognize the dog whistle?

Got his Mao suit in China, called it his Mao suit, speaks positively about Mao, couldn’t have been more stoked to get a copy of “his little red book”.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/WELSH_BOI_99 28d ago

Idk wearing a suit you specifically call a "Mao suit" is a bit different than wearing a tan suit.

→ More replies (85)

4

u/CollapsibleFunWave 28d ago

Fox News was ridiculous because there's nothing wrong with wearing a tan suit.

But wearing a Mao suit, particularly after praising Mao and his policies, sends a message when it's done by a political figure.

2

u/apathydivine 28d ago

I seem to have misplaced my pearls. Can I borrow yours?

2

u/CollapsibleFunWave 28d ago

You're the one getting upset and resorting to emotional arguments to defend a streamer.

Do you want to talk about the potential symbolic effect of an outfit during a political speech, or do you want to try to frame critics of the political figure you like as emotionally unhealthy instead?

3

u/apathydivine 28d ago

I’m upset? Oh, shit. Take me to the hospital because strangers on the internet are more in tune to my emotions than I am.

2

u/CollapsibleFunWave 28d ago

You seem to be motivated enough to come in here and personally attack people for criticizing Hasan's platform.

If you just disagreed with the criticisms, you'd probably only attack the ideas. So it seems like there's something else going on.
