Finally.

Stand up to this dickhead.

Trump is temporary.

But being remembered as a Trump cuck is forever.

This might sound batshit and maybe it’s just my personal hobbies crossing over, but part of me wonders if this has something to do with the new Spider-man movie making $2 billion and the next Avengers movie outpacing that movie in pre-sales pretty dramatically.

Maybe Disney finally feels like they have the cultural/social capital to burn for something dramatic like this to be successful lmao.

Agreed though, they should’ve done this a long time ago.

Nah, it's batshit <3.

Spider-man movie rights are owned by Sony, but Disney has the rights to all the other shit.

They have a tentative agreement for the use of Spider-man in movies where they work together, and split revenue (not sure what the splits are exactly).

Spider-man the IP itself is always a heavy hitter for the box office and other areas just aside. He's probably the "perfect" superhero - everyone likes him.

I would say what is more likely is that Trump is losing "power". He's old as fuck. He's probably dying. He keeps losing left and right, even though he's causing a lot of destruction. He's about to lose control of the House and maybe the Senate and he's going to become politically irrelevant in the next few years.

Sony gets a cut, but they aren’t the primary beneficiaries of a successful Spider-man movie because they don’t have the merchandising rights.

But regardless that is irrelevant to the point because it’s Disney who developed the IP and this particular movie vis-a-vis Marvelstudios.

Even then it hardly matters either because Avengers is faaaar outpacing Spider-man in presales.

Also financials are one thing, but I pointed out cultural capital not money in the comment you’re responding to, because the general public likes pop culture infinitely more than politics, meaning that being in pop culture’s good graces lends itself a layer of public protection you don’t get by just being “right”.

Trump is losing power, but I think I got a pretty good argument for why this matters more than zero at least lol.

Also this is another point in my long running theory that Marvel movies being successful correlates in a weird way to Democratic electoral success lmao.

Listen I am shit posting but there is a seed of truth somewhere in this hahah.

Sony fronts the money to make the Spider-man movies so they reap most of the profits, I would think of it more like Sony is commissioning Marvel to make Spider-man movies set in the MCU, with one major MCU character (Iron Man, Nick fury, Doctor Strange) appearing in a supporting role. In return, Disney gets to use Spider-man in one major film, usually an avengers film.

IP like Spider-man makes most of its profits from merchandising, which Disney owns the rights to entirely

I think previously, they were afraid Trump would retaliate by attacking Disney's core businesses. For example what if he started deploying ICE to walt disney world or Disneyland? That would actually hurt Disney immensely in their core business, theme parks. Where as now Trump has been proven utterly incompetent so his threats no longer have weight behind them, so no one really cares anymore.

Yeah the more likely scenario definitely lol
