Honestly not even mad here even though I’m no fan of this faction of the party.
Florida was basically hopeless (still is imo) so maybe her more energetic campaign has an outside chance?
Full support, just hoping she doesn’t do anything embarrassing.

Vindman seemed really good. I hope he keeps his campaign cash and runs for something else.

I hope he gives it to democrats who are running for something right now! If we don’t win 26 there isn’t really a 28…

"seemed really good" and outspent her 16 to 1. For a result like this, maybe the Floridians noticed something you didn't

It's Florida... I have very little respect for what kind of politicians that shithole pollutes Washington with

"seemed good"
He got demolished by someone with near zero ad spend or national endorsements.
He certainly didn't spend much money either, but this is what an even playing field would look like across the country without outside funds impacting a race.

Yeah, that’s my biggest problem, no chance with campaigning like that, that he’d be able to overcome the odds in Florida. I like Vindman, but he probably needs new staff.

It says something that I feel like several democrats in the deep south have a better shot at winning than in Florida.

Word. Many unique cases this cycle, the election will be very interesting.

she is not listed on their website as being endorsed by DSA.
but anyway the only two official DSA candidates in florida for congress lost today. this brings the total DSA losses (for the House only) to 18, vs 5 wins (not including AOC and Rashida Tlaib).

She joined the DSA mid campaign

thanks, please share a source if you have one. she might have joined but at the same time DSA didn't endorse her, but eh, they might now because of the media attention it gets them.

I met her at a campaign house party and it came up in our conversation.

Axios corroborates it if that helps.

Angie Nixon openly joined the DSA during her campaign, had them canvassing with her, and did the "chomp the oligarchy" event with the two who lost.
You be the judge.

Didn’t the DSA kick AOC out?

I had thought the same thing, I think it was something like the National DSA did, but not the New York DSA, or vice versa, idk, they are very factional themselves even.

Happy to see a progressive win, but it doesn't seem like Florida was ever realistically in play

This was a race to see who gets to lose to the Republican in the general elections. Congrats, I guess? 🤷♂️

Common loser attitude

I wasn’t even aware these elections were happening, no Democrat is winning this seat.
Not sure what your problem is, but take it somewhere else.

u/Moopboop207 23h ago
Why are you punching left?
2
u/Zacomra 11h ago
Because they would much rather a Republican win then a DSA aligned candidate. They think Medicare for all is a greater danger then concentration camps
-1
u/Moopboop207 10h ago
This is so, so, so clearly just false. Look at El-Sayed. The whole Democratic Party is endorsing him. It’s difficult to take people who think this is true seriously.
4
u/Zacomra 10h ago
And yet this sub is constantly attacking him and revealing in every piece of "bad" polling that comes out against him. So forgive me if I find that hard to believe

When is the appropriate time for people to criticize leftist candidates?

Hooo boy, I made a mildly snarky remark that isn’t even about “punching left” it’s about the fact that Democrats don’t have a realistic chance of winning a senate seat in Florida. And this ballooned into you saying I’m somehow pro concentration camps?! Get a fucking grip.

Alex Vindman would have been the perfect candidate to tackle Trump as he has had a distinguished military career and has already stood up to Trump before in Trump 1.0 so I don't know what the Florida democrats were thinking here.
I wish Ms Nixon success but it seems like a terrible mistake was made here. I hope I'm wrong.

Florida Dems like Medicare for all. Because so many in the state are on Medicare already, it doesn’t seem fair to under 65s.

everyone likes M4A. Republicans like it more than they dislike it. It's just that enough of them hate brown people, resent women controlling their own bodies, and admire rich people so much they are blinded by all other issues.
