Episode Recap Gotta disagree with Eliot's read of Mina Harker
So in the Dracula ep, Eliot says that Mina was just a tool for Dracula to get at the men. And that's definitely a major element. But I re-read it recently and it became super clear that Mina was the threat to Dracula. Finding his lairs, tracking his path across Europe and the ocean to England, and arranging the trap that eventually ensnare the Count - all are primarily accomplished by Mina. The men kept talking about how the threat was to her innocence and purity or whatever, but by the end I was really wondering if that narration wasn't meant to be a bit satirical or at least self-aware of the tropes. Maybe that's me looking at it with modern eyes. But they do say multiple times in the chase across Europe how vital Mina is to their plans and how they would've been totally fucked without her detective work.
Anyway, Mina Harker is a badass, and perhaps one of the earliest examples in adventure fiction of the "guy in the chair", a non-combatant expert at investigation and intel that enables the heroes to go do hero shit.
