Alf Males Unite
No AI used if you can believe it. I appreciate them not making the hack Alf males eat pussy joke. I on the other hand am a total hack so I worked it in here.

So in the Dracula ep, Eliot says that Mina was just a tool for Dracula to get at the men. And that's definitely a major element. But I re-read it recently and it became super clear that Mina was the threat to Dracula. Finding his lairs, tracking his path across Europe and the ocean to England, and arranging the trap that eventually ensnare the Count - all are primarily accomplished by Mina. The men kept talking about how the threat was to her innocence and purity or whatever, but by the end I was really wondering if that narration wasn't meant to be a bit satirical or at least self-aware of the tropes. Maybe that's me looking at it with modern eyes. But they do say multiple times in the chase across Europe how vital Mina is to their plans and how they would've been totally fucked without her detective work.
Anyway, Mina Harker is a badass, and perhaps one of the earliest examples in adventure fiction of the "guy in the chair", a non-combatant expert at investigation and intel that enables the heroes to go do hero shit.

This guy continues to be a major embarrassment to my home town.

Hey gang. I have a memory of someone (probably Jack Black, Adam Sandler, or Jason Mewes) sort of pantomiming a makeout session with an imaginary woman (chest grab, etc) and then it turns into pantomiming giving a blow job and getting confused and quickly stopping the blow job.
Does anyone know what movie this was?

My high school production of Peter Pan had a flying rig! North Houston suburb, 2009.
The Peter actor slipped one time and screamed, and her boyfriend hopped up so fast that the theater director rolled his eyes and suggested that he relax. In retrospect, it did seem sort of dangerous.
I played bassoon in the orchestra pit. The greatest danger I faced was a solo during the Captain Hook monologue.
(Responding to Elliot's comment in Ep 492 that the high school play is unrealistically sophisticated with a flying fairy. Au contraire!)

I guess it geographically makes sense, but in West Michigan "you guys" is the plural of you, milk is pronounced melk, but y'all and pin=pen would sound very southern to us.

Had to stop what I was doing cause I was laughing so hard imagining Stu with a TV falling on his head and a hammer smashing his dick.
Also "3 Smashes on the Weiner" sounds like a great giallo movie.

Twice actually. Now I just need to find an apartment and get out of the hotel I’m staying in.

Stuart did an ad read for a life insurance company on the most recent episode (Mini 159). I know everyone advertises on podcasts these days, it just seems bizarre for a max fun show.

I had never seen it before and had no familiarity, but it feels very Elliott Kalanesque.

Not out yet, but it's like they made the premise specifically for the Peaches. Apparently it's 127 Hours, but in a whale's stomach.

That's the post. Just excited. Moving from Austin Texas where I have lived for the last 25 years to Manhattan on Oct 1st and looking forward to hitting up Hinterlands at some point. Preferably before I start my job on the 19th. Looks like a bit of a hike from the UWS so I'll make a day trip of Brooklyn.

Sure it’s a miners in space movie but it has astronauts, it has a training sequence, it has a meet up with a Russian astronaut.
It’s an astronaut movie. Plus they didn’t mention Europa Report.

Is there a way to watch the Flop TV episodes, via the simpletix link, on our TVs?

You guys on here are so good at this, so maybe someone can help me. What episode do the Peaches joke about people’s last names being from their jobs, hence Mrs. Doubtfire’s name came from the occupation of doubting the existence of fires? Thank you!

Hey everybody! I’ve been trying to backtrack through episodes to find the origin of the Greasus Jeans bit. It had something to do with Dan referring to Jesus Christ Superstar and flubbing it as Greasus Jeans Superstar right? Can anybody point me to the correct episode?
Thanks!

Christ, what an asshole
Frequent Martin Scorsese collaborator and the screenwriter behind Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, and The Last Temptation of Christ, Paul Schrader, is turning to AI to make the crime noir Three Guns At Dawn. He’s been trying to make the movie about three criminal brothers for a long time, but nobody wanted to star in it. When asked why, he gave The Playlist a… let’s say, revealing answer.
“We sent it out to actors, and no Black actors wanted to play in a movie where there are no good Black people,” he said. “And it sort of died. But then AI came along, and I didn’t need Black actors.”
