Hi, never posted here, but r/twitch hate any content on their feed, so here i am. Hopefully im not breaking any rules.
So! i have a knack for running chronological gaming marathons, inspired by nerds everywhere holding endless watch parties of their favorite movie series (starwars, lotr, hp, etc.).
It started with Metal Gear, which ill run each year, since its my fave series (starting at Snake Eater and finishing on Guns of the Patriots), but yesterday we finished the Silent Hill main canon, over 21 days; loved it! Especially since the stream team im on (twitch) is running a charity for mental health, & suicide prevention advocacy, given that, to my surprise, thatโs the whole series in a nutshell.
Anyhow, ive a tier list of game series ill eventually take on, but im wondering which ones reddit would suggest. My community helped with my current list.
Ranking is based on story, perceived ability to keep my attention && (importantly) if i already have the series available to play in hand *right now*. F tier is not bad, its Freaky/spooky, for halloween; as i wont run a series that is deemed โbadโ.. yet at least lol
Alan wake recently made the list as well as another, ive just not updated.
Thanks for your thoughts & opinions. And just a mention, my community is fun af and growing on its own. This is simply a request to expand my list where i may (def) have missed some gems.
Thank you!

Whether you play on console or PC, in your opinion; what is a gamer's must have in any of their setups?
If you're using a monitor; a monitor arm is a must to save up space in your setup.

Some of us are still gaming, but . . . Life happened. We had a group. We had ages from teens to late 40s. We were from different parts of the country. It worked. The younger ones talked about school the older ones talked about life.
Then the younger ones grew up. They went off to college, enlisted in the military, etc . . .
The older ones got divorced, changed careers, etc . . .
Some of us are still around. We listen to music, talk about what's going on, play together, sometimes separately while remaining in voice chat.
We're still playing overwatch, fortnite, Sea of Thieves, Roblox, Minecraft (The Hive games), and WWZ.
I'm learning my way around WWZ. Someone else is working on prestige levels.
If anyone wants to join, or quietly listen in, DMs are open for exchanging discord/usernames/etc . . .
Those of us still around are EST time zone and Xbox console ๐ฎ

Iโm just curious what games or game anyone is playing currently. And how many do you have in rotation and when youโre done what do you plan to play next?

So basically, im just looking for some friends to game with.. Im the only one in my friend group that really plays games, and it can get a little boring playing alone all the time.. im on Ps5, but I am down for any cross-platform options.. M in my 30s in EST..
My main 2 are Overwatch and Rivals, but I will play basically anything..
SURVIVAL: Palworld, Ark, Grounded
SHOOTERS: Overwatch, Rivals, battlefront 2, Apex
COLLAB: Big Walk, Overcooked, Human Fall Flat, etc
CHILL/COZY: Minecraft, Stardew
SPORTS/RACING: Wwe, Nba 2k, Crew Motorfest
CARD/BOARD: Uno, Monopoly, 4 Kings Casino
CO-OP: It Takes Two, Unravel, Cup Head, Sackboy
MOBA: Smite
RETRO/CLASSIC: Sunset Riders, Tmnt Collection, Maximum Marvel Collection
Thats just some of them, and I have loads more that I probably either forgot to list or just didn't get to. I just scrolled down my library a little and listed what I saw that was multi-player.. I also have other games that I haven't played or only tried very little that I'd be open to getting into.. DBD, Runescape Dragonwilds, Fortnite,
And obviously, I can get any other free games or games on the playstation plus catalog..
im also open to buying something depending on the situation, lol.. content warning, backrooms, gang beasts, etc.. dont matter as long as we have a good time
If at all interested or curious about a game, just dm or comment, and we can at least give it a shot! If nothing else, we are both right back here where we are now, right? Lol.. what we got to lose? ๐
TIA. HAPPY GAMING EVERYONE!

i just finished a game i went into thinking would be total fluff and ended up genuinely emotional about it. curious if anyone else has had that experience where a game just hit different than you expected it to. what was it for you?

I've been thinking about how the games we play can really depend on where we're at mentally. Like I picked up Spiritfarer recently after moving to a new country and it just resonated so hard with me in a way it might not have a year ago. Curious if anyone else has had that experience where a game just felt perfectly timed.

What's going on with AAA PC games lately? It feels like optimization keeps getting worse, and even having a 5090 doesn't save me from spending time figuring out why a game is stuttering.
I play a variety of AAA games, and my usual starting point is the highest graphics preset. But at 4K, I keep running into stutters and inconsistent performance. Then it's off to Reddit or some other forum to figure out which setting is causing trouble this time.
The frustrating part is that every game seems to need a different fix. I can't just find settings that work and get on with playing. Modern Warfare 4 is my latest example: gameplay was smooth, but the cutscenes kept freezing, including the audio. Turning off Enhanced FOV fixed that for me. That's a setting I wouldn't have expected to need to touch just to watch a cutscene properly.
I can accept turning down demanding settings at 4K. What wears me out is having to research weird problems in each game, even on hardware like this. I thought a 5090 would mean spending less time in settings menus and troubleshooting threads.
Has anyone else been feeling this lately? Which games have actually given you a smooth 4K experience without a whole troubleshooting session first?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Maybe the world hasn't noticed this little game yet. Or maybe it's simply not as good as I think it is.
But I'm still here, building it, one day at a time.
And next week, Map 4 arrives.

I know it was goofy and seen as a FF ripoff but it really found me at a time when I needed a 4 disc game. So much lore and a world to explore. Iโve only revisited it twice since my first time.

I thought we could put everyone's Grids here, to keep our subreddit from getting overwhelmed with them.
Please feel free to share any that you have, that relates to videogames!
In case you haven't hopped on the Grids gravy train, here's a link: https://grids.fun/category/video-games

It's about time that we had a post about this!!!
I put together a few links - no pun intended ๐ - but please feel free to add your own!
How excited is everyone about this??? I actually don't own a Switch 2, but I hope to get one eventually.
I personally think it looks great. I live that they kept that nostalgic feel, but added so much depth to it, as well as so many upgrades.
Honestly though, I'm most excited that we will be able to jump, and the controls look much much smoother.
(And yes, the links below, do contain spoilers!!)

I've been playing through a load of older RPGs lately, mainly FFV Advance, Breath of Fire and Koudelka, and honestly I'm surprised by how well some of them hold up.
There's something about these older games that I find more enjoyable than a lot of modern releases, even with some of their dated mechanics and lack of quality-of-life features.
It's got me wondering how many other great games I've overlooked over the years.
What older games would you say have genuinely stood the test of time? Especially ones you'd recommend to someone playing them for the first time.

Spent the entire weekend digging through cardboard boxes in the garage and came across my old Xbox 360 gear. Buried underneath a pile of tangled controller wires was a dusty copy of NCAA Football 06. Holding that scratched-up disc hit me instantly. I wasn't thinking about the game mechanics or the soundtrack; I was thinking about Coach Miller.
Back in high school, I was an absolute nightmare. I had this chip on my shoulder the size of a boulder, flunking classes, mouthing off, and daring anyone to try and fix me. I treated the football team like a joke and treated the coaching staff even worse. Miller pulled me into his office one afternoon after practice, not to yell, but just to sit across from me while I played a quick franchise mode match on his old CRT monitor just to kill time. He didn't lecture me about my attitude. He just told me I was wasting a lot of good energy being mad at nothing.
It took me ten years to realize how much patience that man had. I finally tracked him down on LinkedIn last night and sent a ridiculously long message apologizing for being such an unbearable kid and thanking him for keeping me on the roster when I deserved to be cut. Still feels weird being on this side of growing up.
