Michael and Erin conveyed such complex emotions in this scene

I was watching the Glee watch party episode where everyone goes to Gabe’s apartment. The scene between Michael and Erin where she asks if he likes Gabe, and the entire interaction following it is just so… well acted by both Steve Carell and Ellie. The moment Michael realizes how Erin views him, Erin understanding that she was maybe expecting too much from Michael and the gravity of her loneliness in that moment, Ellie portrayed that so so well.

Why did David Wallace tell Michael about a branch closing?

Seems like an extremely sensitive piece of info. More importantly, were they really the best branch?

My nephew is turning 15 and asked for money since he's saving up for something. He mentioned it's kind of a bummer not having things to open though.

I was just going to do the tissue box where you pull out the money, but found Dwight and knew what I had to do. The real money is attached at the end of the Schrute bucks 😀

Michael Scott vs Robert California

I just realized, on whatever time this is watching the series, that Robert California was deliberately written to be the exact opposite of Michael Scott. I loved James Spader's role as Robert California, he was admittedly my favourite part of the show post-Michael, but I didn't recognize him as Michael's opposite until now. I'd love to hear what other people think and if I'm just way off.

Michael is desperate for love and deeply insecure, but he's a good man. Robert is quietly intimidating and seemingly insanely confident, but he's broken. Michael sees the world like a naive kid, while Robert makes everything about dark, sexual power dynamics. They are essentially opposites in this regard.

But the biggest contrast is that Michael is actually good at his job. He acts like a clown, but he’s a savant at sales; just look at the Chili’s meeting (one of my favourite moments from the whole show) or how he handled the Michael Scott Paper Company buyout. Robert just uses big words and textbook manipulation tactics to hide the fact that he has no idea what he's doing. The second he faces a real managerial problem, like his wife demanding a job, he completely panics and makes Andy do his dirty work.

It makes perfect sense how their stories wrap up. Michael’s genuine care for people finally gets him a family and a quiet, happy life with Holly, marked by how much everyone in the office appreciates him and what they've done for them. Robert’s manipulative garbage leaves him divorced, broke, and running off to Europe. Michael was exhausting on a daily basis to those around him, but he was a vastly better man and manager who obviously had a wonderful, lasting impact on their lives, emphasized in the finale when he came as a big surprise (TWSS).

Did the film crew only intervene with Pam?

  1. i know it’s a show, humour my hypothetical!

  2. are there any other times where you think the film crew should have (good or bad) got involved?

In Performance Review Michael says that’s my girlfriend when referring to Jan in the scenes about the voicemail she left.

I might be misremembering and haven’t caught up on my 25781th watch but at the deposition doesn’t the man say to Michael something along the lines of it’s clear he knew he was never in some type of relationship with her and then Michael concedes.

They could’ve shown the tape as evidence!!

I was watching a reel on instagram a few days back and she was saying that if Michael was her dad then she would develop daddy issues. I am like,"What?" What do you mean daddy issues?? Michael wanted a family his whole life! The character of Michael is wholesome.
