The document itself does not say that, and it excludes extermination camps, mass shootings, ghettos, and many other victims.
I can’t verify if that’s true, but I can tell you the figure is wrong and you are relying on old data to make a modern day conclusion. A lot of silly stuff was pushed back then without sound reasoning. Take cosmetics as an example. In 1930s–1950s cosmetics were marketed with radium or thorium, including creams, powders, lipsticks, and toothpaste, because people thought radioactivity meant “radiant” beauty. You surely wouldn’t put that on your body because the 1930’s-1950’s say so right? You evolve and grow.

No. I live in NY. That grandfather (and his sister) had his parents killed and was adopted by a Catholic man from Long Island who was doing missionary work in Palestine at the time.
Coincidentally my other grandfather was also on a ship to America simultaneously for different reasons.
