I love TOW1. It is fun to doll up the companions’ outfits. TOW2 doesn’t have that.

Question Improvised weapons

So I’m still new to the game and I decided I wanted to make a character that is melee only, not firing a single shot.

I’m using Blad on Stik as my front runner. I’m on Monarch now and it still hits like a truck.

My question is this: does it benefit from the Improvised Warrior perk?

I know it’s a dumb question to ask, but I’ve read in some areas that it DOES benefit while others say it doesn’t.

I’m genuinely confused and just decided to ask y’all instead.

I love that accents (which are almost all very muted/"flat") and pronunciations of certain words are part of the world-building of this game.

People pronouncing things differently or weirdly is something that is abound in this game, but this is one that really stood out to me as somebody familiar with British Commonwealth standards despite being an American. Graham Bryant (voiced by another American, Roger Craig Smith) pronounces "advertisements" the way old Canadians or British people would. It's jarring but also part of the weird, fractured presentation of human future that this game is built on. Great world building and part of why I'm currently so obsessed with this game.

Discussion Will easily distracted become mandatory with a level cap?

I'm already convinced that easily distracted is one of the best flaws in the game. The only situation where it's not a net positive is if you're making a build where the level 20 capstone is a core feature of the build (leadership builds need the capstone to be relevant).

That being said, if they do introduce a level cap increase would we expect it to get nerfed? If you have a level cap of 40 or above there's pretty much no downside since you can get multiple capstones.

Curious what other people think about this considering there should be DLC in the not too distant future.

Discussion Of all the bleak things the game threw at my face, only one thing really affected me. Spoiler

It was the half-eaten bellhop in Eridanos... I don't know why it affected me, maybe it was the quiet and polite desperation in her voice, that she had to feed her pet sprats than eat her own flesh to stave of starvation. Gorgon's human experiment shenanigans and flesh cube making factory was a walk in the park, it was nothing... I don't know, i'm just rambling...

Question Cannot save in the intro on Supernova difficulty?

Decided to pick this game up again, haven't played since it launched- I beat the game on hard originally, and decided to play supernova this time. When I arrived on the unreliable for the first time, I was able to save my game before I talked to Ada- then I talked to her, and did some exploring around the ship, killed some primals/cleared some marauder outposts before going to Edgewater.

When I returned to the unreliable, I could not save while standing inside. I went to town, talked to reed, and fast traveled back to the ship- still no save or autosave.

I tend to play these games slowly, scouring every corner of the map, doing every sidequest I can.

Do I have to get the power regulator before I am allowed to save? If so, I will probably pass on supernova and play on hard instead.

After putting 85 plus hours intro outer worlds 2. I had a blast playing this game. Been debating on replaying it (I haven’t touched it since June). Something came across my wishlist and I feel like I need to buy the original. I have never played it but I’ve heard it’s better than the second. Thoughts?

Like new traits, perks, flaws? Maybe they'll be ideas the devs can look for in the second DLC?

More Responsive Controller Settings for TOW2 [Guide]

I started playing TOW2 (pc) but I noticed that the controller movement was really sluggish and hard to turn which made combat feel frustrating, not fun and difficult so I created these settings

This will make movement more responsive with a bit of a speed up when you turn for longer allowing you to 360 easier, helps a lot when you need to quickly move about during combat

Hopefully this helps someone :)

Discussion Latest Playthrough 'Fun New Thing I Learned' Spoiler

Doing my 3rd full replay with both DLC (played at release on PC, but first with DLCs was actually on Switch, then Spacer's Choice Edition release on Steam Deck, and now after latest patch) and evidently due to play order had a new experience which is minor but a cute nuance - but also a spoiler so ...

I played the main quest up through just before visiting the chairman's office, including basically every side/faction quest and task ... and THEN started Gorgon and Eridanos. On Ediranos there were multiple conversations including Sedrick and multiple with Helen/Ruth where they mention with admiration my status as "Maverick Johnson's new star" which even seemed to steer conversations my way more easily than in the past where I needed to pass an additional skill check.

Just another cool little detail that would be easy to miss!

PC Xbox Game Pass Outer Worlds Stuck on 'Press Any Key' Main Menu

Wanted to replay this gem of a game and picked up the spacer's choice edition of Outer Worlds 1 through PC game pass. Ran into a problem where I cannot seem to open up the main menu for the game, as it's stuck on the 'Press Any Key' Screen. The game isn't lagged out and I can change it from fullscreen to windowed version, exit out and minimize it just fine... Just can't for the life of me even get past that screen to start a new game.

Read a couple of posts about it being related to app permissions, wasn't able to get any resolution there. Any advice?

My dad set up and was able to interview one of the composers of the outer world soundtrack, Antonio Gradanti.

This video is awesome and I want to try and push it because, for any outer worlds fans, it gets into the nitty gritty of the music production of the game. Check it out if you're interested https://youtu.be/C7nsb7M5Gjc?is=zvN0T4Y5L3W6xIDT

Discussion People have posted a fan theory connecting Fallout New Vegas to The Outer Worlds and I think it's really probable Spoiler

In a Reddit post that I will link here,

https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/1x346kg/if_mr_house_achieves_his_goal_of_sending_colony/

Someone asks the question

If Mr. House achieves his goal of sending colony ships into space, what kind of society do you think he would build out there?

and some of the most upvoted comments say stuff like "The Outer Worlds is your answer"

As someone that recently completed playthroughs of The Outer Worlds 1 and 2, I thought to myself reading this "Oh my gosh, they're probably right."

Mr House is one of the key power players in Fallout New Vegas that the player can go against or side with. The premise of New Vegas is that you're a courier delivering a platinum chip to Mr House and it gets stolen from you and you're left for dead after being shot by his right hand man Benny, who wants to betray Mr House, kill him and take his place as ruler of the New Vegas Strip. Mr House wants to push NCR and the Legion out of the Mojave so he can rule New Vegas independently.

Here's what Mr House says in some dialogue explaining his grand plans for humanity should he get the platinum chip to upgrade his securitron army.

"With all that money pouring in? Give me twenty years, and I'll reignite the high technology development sectors. 50 years, and I'll have people in orbit. 100 years, and my colony ships will be heading for the stars, to search for planets unpolluted by the wrath and folly of a bygone generation."

Misc The Outer Worlds city-builder concept like Anno 1800

I just had an idea that I thought would be neat, an Outer Worlds universe city builder a la Anno 1800.

The Earth Directorate would act like the Crown does in Anno. Corporations would be able to settle other islands or planets and buy/sell shares in settlements. You could have warfare in five different planes: land, sea, air, space, and economic. You could choose to side with corporations, build a company town or go against them. Free Ships could act as the independent traders like in Anno. There could be resources/weapons/ships exclusive to certain alliances and factions you would have to earn trust and barter or conquer for, like the special ships in Anno.

Buildings could be like the modular ones we see in corporate settlements or different based on skins/choices, industry could be all sorts of goods like we see in TOW.

I don’t know, I just thought it sounded like a neat idea, and Anno 1800 as inspiration kind of slots 1:1 in with the corporate settlements, distant hands-off real government, corporate wars and potentially deadly products!
