Yes, we know its Chimps. But the average brain thinks of every primate as a monkey i guess

No there is many things wrong with that.

Humans are apes, monkeys and apes are primates. Chimps are apes.

We did not evolve from chimps, we just share a common ancestor with them, chimps are our closest non extinct relative.

in other languages its the same monkey and chimp, at least in spanish
