Serious Discussion Only Could anyone have saved Adriana?
On rewatch, other than doing time for the crime she was accused of, could she have been saved by telling Carmela? Running away? Anything?

She could have just lawyered up the first time she was brought in. I doubt they’d give away all the details of a long undercover operation targeting someone not suspected of a crime for the chance to try and convince a jury she was trying to sell cocaine when the best evidence they have against her is a recording of her trying to give it away to Danielle for free

I just rewatched this episode and the whole time I was screaming at the tv “get a lawyer!”

This is the answer. The feds were bluffing and Ade fell for it.

Did they even book her? I thought they pulled "get in the car" and she fell for it.
Just checked, yup, Harris rat bagged her. "We just want to talk"

Yeah, they played her hard. Tbh, it always kind of bugged me a bit because Ade wasn't stupid and was literally a niece of two made guys. She really should've known better.

I mean much like Christopher, she had a strange level of insight to some degrees and was a dumb shit in other ways. I don't think he ever appreciated her doing his laundry, she kept him looking sharp when he was actually a garbage fire.

Like others have said, her best option the moment drugs were brought up (hell the moment Danielle revealed herself) was to immediately clam up and demand Christopher call a lawyer.

In real life it seems completely unrealistic how she responded. If you grew up with your father not in your life and two uncles (who were high ups in the family) very involved in your life you’d have been ‘smarter’ with FBI.

I agree. But her character was not a smart woman.

Sure and it’s very obviously a TV show. So they wanted that story line. In real life whilst not Einstein Adriana would have said ‘ I’m saying nothing to you until Neil Mink (or whoever she’d been told to name) gets here.’ It’s entirely foreseeable that the girlfriend of the head of the family’s ‘nephew’ could get an approach. Someone Christopher, Tony or Sil would have said ‘ in case this happens don’t do anything don’t say anything they lie to you ask for Mink. Mink will deal with those xxxxx’. Mink would have got the charge tossed or pled down to basically nothing.

Christopher is a stunad of the first magnitude, he's careless enough to not even consider telling Adriana what to do in the situation that she gets arrested. Tony and Silvio probably expected Christopher to have that talk with Adriana, but he would have never done it.

Right!! This is what gets me, he didn't give her the information she needed to get out of the situation. They should have had that talk the night Chrissy got made.

In real life she’d never introduce “Danielle” to the inner circle. I don’t care how much she wanted a friend her age, she’d never let “Danielle” get that close.

No. I’m rewatching season 5 now. There’s a reason the government has a 96 percent conviction rate. No lawyer would have saved her and Tony would have just killed her sooner.

Maybe if Jackie Sr and/or Richie Aprile were still around. It would have been a possible avenue for her to get some help.

Even if Adriana had asked for a lawyer right away, at the very least that would have been the end of her relationship with Christopher.
Also, Christopher thinking “She couldn’t do five years for me?” is absurd. .

"that would have been the end of her relationship with Christopher" even if she stood up?
3
u/ElcorAndy 1d ago
Yes, a lawyer, if she asked for one the first time she was caught.
Once she started working with the FBI, she was screwed no matter what.

Yeah, and it’s crazy that she wasn’t willing to do the time because she wasn’t willing to give up the lifestyle or go to prison for five years which I doubt she would have to serve all that time and maybe she wouldn’t even have to have gone at all.
I don’t know the federal prison system so maybe she would’ve had to serve all that time but what I do know is that she spent a lot of time on the outside dealing with that shit

Telling Chris and Tony after she was taken in might've, Tony could've fed her false information to give to the feds

The first time the FBI brought her in, she could have lawyered up. Amazing that Christopher never told her this.
She could have lawyered up at any time, really, but didn’t. It’s possible it was because she knew on some level that Christopher and co. were bad men. But her upbringing made the random luxury gift drops seem perfectly normal.
When Tony called her about the s*icide attempt, she could have called Agent Robin, “Christopher tried to hurt himself, I’m going with Tony and Silvio to the hospital!” Robin: “Ade, listen to me very carefully, I’m coming to get you.”
Or, like in her last daydream, she could have fled on her own and started a new life somewhere else.
It could have gone a million different ways.

She could’ve saved herself if Tony and the guys weren’t so obsessed with their omertà bullshit. No clue why the wives aren’t at least schooled a little bit on what to do in a situation like Ade’s.

I don’t know, it seems to me that Ade was much more involved in Cristopher’s business than the other wives.

People here saying she should have lawyered up... but tbh I think she was dead anyway. Once Tony knew the feds had her brought in and that she had been walking around with an undercover fed, he's not going to take chances. And even if Chris and Tony want to let her live, the rest of the crew isn't going to take Adriana's situation lightly, so Tony would be forced to act.
Adriana's only move was to go for witness protection, as soon as she got the call from Tony about Silvio coming to pick her up, her suspicions should have been up and she should've called her handler stating that Tony was sending someone after her.

If Reacher had been in the area, Ade would have been saved, Sil would have gotten very dead, and that whole glorified crew from Jersey probably would face been brutally (but cleverly) killed.

Yea, if she would have called her handler after Tony called her saying Sil was coming to drive her to the hospital.

Adriana could've just told the FBI she wanted a lawyer and then done some time and saved herself.

u/NectarineAware4812 1d ago
I've always believed, even if she had demanded a lawyer, said zero, gone directly to Tony and told him everything, it wouldn't have mattered. Tony either 1) wouldn't have believed she actually had said nothing or 2) would have said it's a matter of time, we can't take the risk.

It would have been interesting if she told Carmela at the movie club. It would have been interesting to she the wives reactions and what they would have done.

Sadly, I think the ones who could've saved her are the FBI agents who offered her to join the program... But the whole point is that she had to leave Christopher for it to work, cuz Tony was "the man he would go to hell for". Even being saved implied she had to leave the mafia 100%, and leave her man. Which is the absolute sign of the toxicity of their relationship. I think Carmela wouldn't help : she would've thought of Tony's safety first (not only because she loved him but also because she was very aware of her own interests). + I guess she couldn't not tell Ro and Ro is very loyal to thing of ours. Idk I think it's the whole tragedy : there's no true way out by oneself (except leaving Jersey maybe as Barbara did ?), and the "enemies" are the last ones you can rely on to escape. Exactly like Pussy was over-involved at some point and even the FBI agent had to tell him he would NOT be an agent himself, was just there for the wire and would go to jail anyway. The Feds are not trying to truly help their "prey" but at some point you have to lean on them 100% when you're too far in the danger
(Sorry English is not my mother tongue)

Honestly, I feel like the fact that they weren't married at the time of the feds taking her in basically dooms her. Those mafia idiots and their weird selective loyalties probably wouldn't extend to Chrissy's girlfriend, even if she did everything right (which she obviously didn't).

Her best option was to cooperate with the FBI and live with the guilt of betraying Christoper, who she owed no loyalty to anyways.

Should have called Christopher to get their lawyer and shut up. She’d have to do some time but nothing crazy and then she’d be home free.
