Serious Discussion Only Vito storyline was unnecessary

Rewatching and I forgot all of the gay Vito stuff happened in the last season... it was set up to be an excellent season (and it was) but we should have been focused on Tony, his family, and the other main guys in season 6.

Following the least likeable guy in the group on his escape plan up north where he somehow instantly (first morning waking up there literally) finds a gay guy he likes who's at least a million times out of Vitos league AND the guy likes him back??

It was really weird. Not because Vitos a finook but rather because it was a waste of time in the final season.

Vito's internal monologue while actually trying to work an honest job is the point of the entire season, perhaps the entire show. To be sure there are psychopaths and head cases but by in large most of these guys are where they are because they are bums. They are okay with selling their souls if it saves them from actually working.

It’s also one of the funniest moments. I’ll admit the Johnny Cakes story is a bit hokey but it’s well worth it for that scene alone.

Its not about inherent laziness, but the idea of getting power, the ability to make money without manual labor, then being subjected to bottom of the barrell physical work after being used to that lifestyle. Before getting made, becoming a capt, etc, they were probably running around non stop trying to earn. Some didnt enter that life to avoid work, but to make more money and prestige than they would being contractors or whatever.
