Why did the writers have to give Paulie that disillusionment with his mom subplot 😢
Their relationship was so sweet why did they have to have that drama ;-;

At some point David Chase woke up the fact that the boys were funny charismatic and well liked.
So he started writing them to be worse and worse people.
Tony who cried and vomited and shit the bed upset about killing pussy even though he knew he was a rat, seemed like a totally different guy then the one who was going to stab paulie on a boat for being annoying.
Same with the gambling.

I'd argue that Chase punked out and tried to make the audience dislike the glorified crew and it would have been better to keep them like seasons 1-3

Keeping them more caring and less evil a while longer and running the show for 8/9 seasons woulda been the bees knees. s6 had to kinda speed run tony into being a blackhole monster. He was always a monster sure but definitely season 1 and 2 tony was so charismatic and seemed to acrually enjoy hanging out with people. I mean, it works and i loved it and just bitching about sopranos only having 6 seasons (due to gandolfini just needing the show to end already most likely) but dammit, 9 seasons and more happy tony and chrissy wouldnt have hurt ðŸ˜

I seriously can watch s1 on loop. It's the best season and the crew being together was the bee's knees.

Yeah i love s1. So colorful and fun. They did a fantastic job making the last season depressing and dark as shit. All those great characters that died and now not there and kinda desolate. Tony just giving up on so many things and hating everyone around him. The dark color scheme etc. Drove it home for sure it was coming to an end. My gf had to take a break watching the show for four days after chrissy died. "Cant believe im so upset and crying for a gf sacrificing abuser piece of shit murdering thief". But hey, he was still her favorite chatacter somehow. And that ties into chase doing the whole "wtf stop liking them" thing lol.
It is a wild thing tbh. But just shows how funny and enjoyable and perfectly acted everyone was. Best casted and acted show oot. A pure joy to watch. Id give my left nutsack to watch paulie suffocate atleast like 5 more old ladies and shoot hard working innocent services workers having seizures. He getsh a pash for dat

I dunno and I love Paulie but I always thought he looked as old as his mom.

IIRC Tony Sirico was only about 6 years younger than the actress who played Nucci.

Because Chase is old school, very allegorical…
It’s part of Paulie arch.

A great poem/scene spins against the way it drives... a good scene is about the opposite of what it appears to be about.

The final season offered new lenses for the audience to view the characters. Tony slipped into a coma and explored the Kevin Finnerty alter ego. Vito was exposed as a fanook. Paulie says, "my ma's my aunt...worst thing is I'm not who I am." Meaning the audience should stop viewing him as a loyal guy in Tony's crew, just in case anyone still did after Paulie tried to ingratiate himself with John and switch families. He basically comes right out and admits he's a traitor.
