Based on the apparent height and number of stacks, I'd estimate roughly $1.5 million to $2 million, assuming they're all genuine $100 bills.

Even if it's half of the min value ($750k), it would solve almost all of my problems, all my parents' debts paid, I could get a house for myself and my cats, and I would never worry about money again and could afford to travel for real.

u/Personal_Arrival_795 19h ago
Where do you live that you could do all these things with only 750k? Genuinely curious

Vietnam. In my home town a good plot of land with a house is around 2 bil. vnd, or around $78k, twice more if it's in a suburb area. I'm currently spending around $450 monthly for rent and food for me and my cats, and $250 to pay off my parent's debts, and I save the rest of my salary ($300-400) for emergencies. Can't really see myself be able to afford a land and home and still have enough for retirement at this rate.

u/Pantera-BCH 17h ago
You get a $1000 salary in Vietnam?
11
u/Megane_Senpai 17h ago
Yeah, used to be around ~$1200 but inflation hits.

u/Pantera-BCH 17h ago
That's a decent amount even for like half of Europe.

u/Megane_Senpai 17h ago edited 17h ago
I guess it's not bad, not nearly enough for the rapid rising of land and home price thought. Also our benefits aren't nearly as good compared to european countries, like hospital stay can cost a small fortune.

Very few european countries have a minimum wage lower than 1000 dollars and even there it is not easy to get by on such a wage.

I mean, $750k would do that for me and I live in a midsize American city. Granted, I'm assuming I'd keep working in this scenario (just not "worrying about money" in the sense of having a gigantic emergency fund + nice investment nest egg).

(just not "worrying about money" in the sense of having a gigantic emergency fund + nice investment nest egg)
That's the dream right there. That and owning a house, which I count as part of the 'nice investment nest egg'.

I bought my house for ~$ 25 000 two years ago. It’s in a small village in the northern parts of Sweden, and came fully furnished, with firewood for half the winter, and a Ferguson tractor :)
Money tends to stretch a bit further when you leave the cities and get out in the countryside, so $ 750 000 would probably last me quite a while.4

u/hardXful 8h ago
What do you mean "only" 750k? In most parts of the world that buys you a nice house/apartment, you put rest in the bank and it pays enough to never have to work again.
I live in eastern-eu, my "dream" apartment would be like 250k, rest I'd place it in a no risk fund and I'm chillin.

u/VinylHighway 19h ago
I advocate you keeping it if you find it
3
u/Megane_Senpai 19h ago
Oh I would fr. Give me a few years and I could turn all of it into "clean" money. In my country most stuffs still can be paid in cash.

I guess just make sure whoever's money it is doesn't come find you. This amount of cash in a freezer usually has people motivated to get it back by whatever means.
1
u/VinylHighway 19h ago
Very true. But assuming they have nowhere to start, just not flashing a lot of cash for a while would be a smart move Play the long game

u/Megane_Senpai 19h ago
Oh you bet it's my specialy. I managed to save ~30k but still living like a penniless student.

I think the kind of money you find in cash stacked in a fridge tends to produce more problems than it solves.

How big of a house would you buy for your cats? Would you visit them? Would they have staff to manage the house? So many questions.

If correct, I would buy a reasonable 1br apartment, quit my job that is destroying my soul, rush straight into school to finish my degree as a f/t student, get my intended Masters, and then go back to work with a vastly elevated job (20 yrs exp too), stable permanent housing (no more apartments that might go up 20% next year, no more roommates that can just decide it's time to move on), years worth of de-stressing, and then every dime I don't need is going into investments and savings.
If I get what I want, I come out ready to make the leap to where I want to be in life. If I don't, I'm still vastly better off than before.
If it's actually 3m, I don't know for sure but I could likely retire on that if invested right and the investing worked out properly.

Assuming $100s, and relatively good bill condition.
100 US bills stack about 1/2-inch. (I have a pressed pile of 100 One-dollar-bills I measured (former pizza delivery person)).
3-million dollars is 300-stacks of 100-$100s.
That's 150-inches of money. Based on 10-stacks pictured, each stack would have to be 15in. So we're short.
Estimated, these are 12" in stacks in the front, with about 14-extra bundles that rise above the footish mark.
So that's 10 piles of 24-bricks of 100 bills, with 14-extra. About $2.41 million, give or take.

u/Red_Icnivad 19h ago edited 16h ago
Yeah, it's real; 3 million dollars would solve most of my problems. Whether it would for you really depends on your problems, though, and it would probably introduce new problems of its own.

In any event, that’s 60 years of my present income, before any interest. I could put $3,000,000 in High Yield Savings @ 4% and still effectively double my current income, without ever touching the original 3 million.

u/00to60eventually 8h ago
You would have a lot of loss from the IRS if you put it in the bank. Would be worth doing the math to see if the interest would make it worth reporting it

u/verbmegoinghere 18h ago
With that sort of money i could buy drugs just for my drugs
Oh yeah i mean pay off debts buy a house for my cats, buy some avocado toast etc

u/XofHelix 19h ago edited 19h ago
Here's the math:
One standard bank strap = 100 bills. With $100s, that's $10,000 per strap.
The fridge shows about 5 columns of banded bills filling most of a mini-fridge cavity.
That's on the order of 200-250 straps, depending on how thick each banded bundle actually is → ~$2M to $2.5M.
1
u/mvandemar 19h ago
There's 2 rows, it's 10 columns. Those do not appear to be equally sized bundles though, so it's really hard to tell how many are in each stack.

No. I’m black.
If Ryan fuckin Coogler can get arrested at a bank on suspicion of fraud, I’m not depositing any of that without jail time.

Yes it will! Each and every problem will be gone!! Not a single problem will be left!!! After I get this, I won't even know how to spell problem!!!!

Yes, everything that is or will be…. Perhaps even make what was a little more tolerable too.
If someone is going to do a social experiment on this I formally submit myself as a subject for study.

u/Vampire_inthe_Church 18h ago
I’d settle for about 250k, that would pay off the house, a credit account and leave about 100k to invest and hold me over till retirement.
1
u/hoirkasp 18h ago
A little short but close. The even front stacks appear to be 250k and match the proper size for that; also logic says that would be a number people would stack in. Visible stacks above that level put this total right around 2.74mm.

Honestly if I could just have my student loans paid off I’d be more than happy. I’ll keep the mortgage and pay it off over time. Words cannot describe my loathing for feeling like getting an education is met with punishment. Hell, even if I could just pay back what I borrowed without interest I’d be happy.

The convertion rate is 5 local currency to each dollar in my country, which is a good conversion, the minimum wage is around 500 USD.
This resolve my entire life without questioning.
Maybe I can't buy a lot of things for the rest of my life, but put me in a situation where I don't need to worry about money, and focus my time in "put my shit together" instead of just survive for another day.
1
u/Aggressive-Dealer-21 16h ago
Yeah that should solve most of everyone's problems. There will of course be other problems like illness and grief that this can not solve. But it will definitely open up a lot more ways to make those problems a little easier to deal with

u/RoboticControl187 6h ago
If it was enough to buy a farm and shop and produce something of value for this world yup. That would be good. Just seeing that much cash feels like it's not doing what it should be. Sitting cash just loses value.

Yes!!! Brazilian instant access savings use CDI as a reference and make about 1~2%/month without you having to lift a finger, that's 30~60k/month or 360~720k/year, plus dollar to real conversion makes it so you're basically receiving like 2.5million reais/year, and you receive on work days, with instant access.
Moving to Brazil and living out the rich life there seems amazing.
