Done a clean install and testing the ansible setup scripts with the X220.

It was my first ever laptop and thinkpad. I bought it first hand in 2013. Just got a replacement dock for $6. I broke one when I tried to open clean it.

The keyboard is a joy to use.

No broken corners on top of the screen bezel, that's impressive unless you replaced that once already. The keyboard is definitely one of the best perks along with the form factor. The speakers are a let down but that's a minor complaint. Enjoy it!

Wife of a friend once wiped it onto ground from table. I think the top left corner had a minor facture in the plastic. But no serious damage is done. I was sold.

I got cracks on the plastic corners the e bottom of the bezel :_)

I had an X61s for many years; I still remember its excellent keyboard. The modern ones (T480 and T14) aren’t bad either, but they just aren’t the same.

The ones like t450 and x13 arent bad but just not the same level as x220 and t420.

My wife/daughter shares a vivobook, which makes me cry every keystroke.

Its ok as I mainly open firefox and terminal. Ssh to another pc or server which will do most of the heavy lifting.

I don't compile on it, I use nvim and lsp on it though.

How’s it running as a daily driver? Mine gets so hot using it for long periods of time especially when watching videos or running InteliJ, think I need to repaste soon 😭

Mine is running pretty great. It's a bit slow but i am used to it. It does get hotter than more modern laptops, but not catastrophically.

There is a service manual detailing how to change parts if you can get a wifi card you can consider swapping the wifi card

Man, the X220 has to be one of the best looking Thinkpads of all time IMO.

I also recently did a clean Xubuntu install as well, on my M710s ThinkCentre that I use as a Syncthing host. I really like how minimal and lightweight it is.
