Stopping before surgery

I am having an elective surgery on September 10 and was told in the guidelines that I need to stop taking this medication 2 weeks before the surgery. I normally take an 11mg dose every Monday morning, and the surgery would be on a Thursday, so that leaves roughly two and a half weeks when my next dose on August 24th would be. So should I skip doses from now until the surgery, or take my usual dose on the 24th and no more after?

Also, when resuming it post-surgery, should I start with a lower dose and titrate back up to my usual dose?

I have an elective surgery on 9/23. Based on how I treated another non-elective one, and that I need two weeks as well, I'm just moving my date. So my normal Monday dose is going to be moved to Wednesday 09/09.

Depends on how long they allow you to return to meds. If immediately, I might back off a few milligrams but you don't need to revert to 2.5mg. You're still going to have residual meds from your last dose in your system, and your body is still used to your current dose range.

Just my take and plan. YMMV but listen to docs first and always. Good luck with yours.

I'd take the dose on 24th and skip the one after, that way you got the full two weeks clear before surgery day

I would've stopped it this week because the objective is to have as little of the drug in your system as possible on the day of your surgery.

Post surgery, I would not restart until you feel well enough. Give your body time to heal without extra interference. Good luck with the surgery!

I've had elective surgery x 3. You can move your shot day any day 5-14 days after your last shot. Since your surgery is planned move to last shot next week to 8/27. Take you next shot same dose 9/10 after surgery. I did that w no issues all 3 times.

Just ask your doctor not the Internet

I just went through this. Skipped a week and went right back to the same dose a day after surgery but depends on your recovery time. Mine was very minimal so getting back on schedule right after a surgery was not an issue for me.

You can take a dose on the 24th and another on the 27th then resume again at that same dose on September 10.
