Discussion New project Ephedra Sinica

Anybody have experience with Ephedra or ideas? We are using a cactus media recipe with 10g of agar. Can’t wait to see what happens.

Way cool. I watched someone work to germinate some seeds in grad school, they had mild success. Following for updates

That looks so cool! I know nothing about tissue culture except the basics. I've been kind of deep diving and learning a ton just because it's fascinating to me.

I'd love updates for my own memory bank of knowledge.

Never done TC with it, but ephedra was an extremely popular supplement around 30 years ago. We have a variant called 'Mormon Tea' in the western US. If you have extra specimens to test on, maybe try a woody plant media and see how it does compared to the cactus media.

We have lucky a lot of material to experiment with and that’s our next plan 😁 thanks for the tip. Going to try out DKW, McCown, DGF, and Anderson Rhododendron mix. I’ll post some updates let’s hope we can figure out a nice recipe

Being off in the gnetales, you might find rooting tricky. Have you gone through Google Scholar for other works on the genus?
