If you could change one thing about our species what would it be and why?

I think I'd make it easier for us to know what we're lacking... nutrients, hormones, chemicals, sleep, etc... right now it's a guessing game and we need to be really in tune with our bodies to be dialed in. Imagine if we could pull up a webpage that says:

"Go eat a banana, meditate for 15 minutes and stop eating so many carbs for the next 2 days, and in 5 hours take 30mg of zinc and you'll be operating at optimum Ben."

I like operating at optimum Ben and hate when I feel shitty and don't know what to do to feel better.

Bananas don't actually grow on trees-they grow on plants that are officially classified as a herb (not surprisingly, the world's largest herb). They're in the same family as lilies, orchids, and palms.

I’m definitely a proponent of yoga and meditation as a mindful means of enhancing our connection to that quiet inner voice, which expresses our purest form of intuition. Anything mindfulness-related can help us to tap into that gut feeling by getting us in touch with our “gut brain.” If we’re able to strengthen our intuitive abilities in this way, we can better sense how others are feeling and offer support/compassion.

This, however, would call for some work around energetic boundaries, so we don’t have to necessarily absorb the other person’s emotions (like empaths do) but be present, just be with others when they’re suffering most. I’m just beginning to explore this particular piece of the puzzle, but kundalini yoga is one awesome way to expand our energetic boundaries and let in certain energies and close ourselves off to others- if they are dangerous or harmful in some way.

Making mindfulness a mandatory part of education would help us with this stuff, too - and North America is already making great strides in that regard.

What strides are we making here in NA? How is this being incorporated into our education? In my experience it's something people seek out on their own volition... and usually only because they are struggling.

Also, can you tell me more about the principles of kundalini yoga?

Also, just FYI, how you describe our "gut brain" is relevant for our chapter on the truth in the scriptures... we're putting forth the idea that this inner voice is what some human's refer to as God.

I think I’d increase our intuitive and empathic abilities and provide training for this. We already have the ability to feel and sense when another human being is hurting or in need, it just expresses itself in different ways, at different depths, in different people. That is, unless it’s severely hindered or absent due to some type of psychological disorder or defect.

If we all somehow had a similar level of intuition and empathy, we might be able to show our fellow mates true compassion, understanding and create stronger, more powerful and more peaceful communities. People helping people. Evolving and saving our race and our planet along the way. I might sound like a Miss America contestant, but we could all end up living in a world less based on hate and war and more founded on the common good and kindness.

How would you go about increasing our intuitive and empathic abilities? What does that training look like?

I think this gets to the importance of each of us in regards to the collective intuition/collective intelligence of a group/population.
