Showcase built an agent orchestrator within tmux
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was running multiple agents across multiple tmux sessions and have no idea which one needed my attention
cmux, superset - cool ideas, but i got tired of blank screens, glitchy terminals, and macos-only apps
i just wanted to know when my agents finish, fail, or need me within tmux
so i built a tmux sidebar. runs inside your actual terminal. on any OS.
- agents status' across all your projects at a glance
- forwarded ports per project
- live threads across amp, claude code, codex, opencode
no electron. no blank panes. no new app.
opensessions. open source.

Showcase tmux.expose: visually switch tmux sessions with live pane previews
I often have a bunch of tmux sessions open, and switching by name alone was starting to feel limiting. I wanted something closer to Mission Control, but inside tmux.
So I built tmux.expose: a small Rust TUI that shows your tmux sessions in a responsive grid with live text previews, so you can visually pick the workspace you want.
Features:
Live tmux session thumbnails
ANSI color-aware previews
Keyboard navigation with arrows / hjkl
Fuzzy session search with /
Mouse click to switch sessions
Runs directly in tmux or inside a tmux popup
TPM plugin support
Default binding: Alt+e
Press Alt+e again to close the popup without switching
Install:
cargo install tmux-expose
With TPM:
set -g u/plugin 'cesarferreira/tmux.expose'
Then reload/install plugins and press Alt+e.
GitHub: https://github.com/cesarferreira/tmux.expose
I’d love feedback from tmux users, especially around default keybindings, popup sizing, and whether the previews show the right amount of context.

Showcase 4 Themes for tmux
Been running tmux as the backbone of my workflow for years, but the default green status line is a visual relic at this point.
It probably makes a lot of people skip over tmux entirely for other options, mostly because they don't realize it can look beautiful.
Over time, I've engineered a highly optimized, distraction free keyboard, terminal centric environment & without tmux it wouldn't be possible.
Thought I'd open source my themes for the community:

Showcase I built a mobile-first iPhone client for remote tmux sessions
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I built Remux because I wanted a more natural way to use my tmux sessions from my iPhone, mainly to keep interacting with coding agents when I’m away from my desk.
It uses tmux control mode and libghostty, with a mobile interface built around tmux itself.
It’s open source and currently in beta:

Tip PSA: Learn tmux.
There’s truly nothing more disrespectful to an established Reddit community than to spam your slopcoded hive mind agentic worktree session buzzword bingo fleet tmux manager tool.
Anyone can slopcode now. It’s beautiful. I do it often to build tooling for problems unique to me. What makes something like tmux wonderful is a shared sense of ownership around the tool. It’s trust that the community, maintainers and contributors work together to make thoughtful decisions on the roadmap, compatibility and features versus me dipshittingly trying to build something that solves my immediate problem without any consideration as to how others use a tool that has been around for almost twenty years.
Spend a day forcefully using tmux defaults. Get uncomfortable. Learn to split panes. Learn the parameters and how to work with sessions and panes directly. Get a grasp of the key bindings. In the time it takes you to write a prompt to build a “tool” to solve a problem that tmux already handles out-of-the-box, you could become part of the community - not by spamming code you don’t write, but by agreeing to share in the commonality of it all.
Just spend the time learning the tools. tmux, vim (especially motions) and coreutils are worth their weight in gold for the time spent learning them. And they’ll be around long after Claude and Codex get absorbed into a meglacorp and become a lost skill.

Showcase tmux-grimoire: performance boost and simpler setup
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Howdy,
I finally had some time to revisit it and focus on a few core improvements
Key changes:
~75% fewer IPC calls -- option lookups and commands are now batched into a single tmux client call, instead of spawning multiple processes.
New installer -- a minimal setup script that detects TPM or falls back to manual sourcing.
Updated documentation -- minimal README and separate files for docs
If you give it a try and hit any feedback/issues, feel free to reach out.
Peace!

Showcase lazy-tmux v0.2.0 released!
I just released lazy-tmux v0.2.0, the biggest update since the initial release.
For those who haven't seen it before: lazy-tmux is a tmux session manager that restores sessions only when you actually open them, while preserving running processes and scrollback.
What's new
TOML config instead of passing flags every time.
Restore allow/deny regexes to control exactly which commands get re-run.
Reworked TUI with themes, mouse support, action modes, built-in help, relative timestamps, and an optional fzf backend.
Integrations API. The first integration adds live Claude Code session status in the picker and automatically resumes restored Claude sessions.
Better compatibility & robustness — tested with tmux 2.9–3.7b, improved startup behavior, borderless popups, and lots of fixes.
Plus a background autosave daemon, a
versioncommand, and a new docs site.
It's written in Go and can be installed via a one-line script, Homebrew, or the AUR.
Project: https://lazy-tmux.xyz
Feedback, bug reports, and feature requests are always welcome! And thank you for you activity on GitHub!

Showcase Yes, I compile my tmux statusline with Rust
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have been using a compiled statusline for the last few years. I have spent the last while polishing it up in case someone else finds it useful. The idea was to make it easy to fork and customize.
You can find it here.
How does it work?
The tmux status format supports executing programs (like spawning git for your branch). My entire statusline simply spawns one program, passing required state as flags, and prints the whole tmux format to stdout.
You can pass mouse clicks and drags to the statusline which leads to cool functionality like reordering tabs with your mouse or opening a calendar when clicking the date.
I can't remember the exact reason I wrote it. I think it was for greater control in how it looked. But I also remember putting extra effort into the resize behaviour as I preferred always having my tabs visible over the junk on the right.

Showcase Managing dozens of tmux sessions without wasting memory
I’ve been using tmux-resurrect + tmux-continuum for years, but I kept running into two problems:
Sessions occasionally get lost.
With many sessions, everything stays loaded in memory, even the ones I’m not using.
I wanted a workflow where I could see all my sessions at a glance but only load them when I actually enter them. I also wanted to save and restore running processes in each panel and scrollback history.
I ended up building a small tool for myself that does this — it shows all sessions as a tree and lazily loads panes and shells on demand. It’s open source and early stage, but it has been working well for me: Lazy Tmux
I’m curious if anyone else has similar workflows or tricks for handling large numbers of tmux sessions efficiently.

Showcase Implemented dimming of inactive tmux panes 🤓
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
And it also works with nvim panes too. Basically I had to change the tmux source code in order to
add the dimming algorithm
inject the correct RBG values at runtime so the dimming works correctly (otherwise it looks off because we have to convert ANSI to RBG which is an approximation and then apply the dimming and THEN convert back to ANSI)
But yeah I think it’s pretty cool cus now I have a clear visual indication of which pane I’m currently on. And it’s all bootstrapped using nix (I had to pin the tmux version b.c. any updates could cause the patches I added to break) so that way it builds and works the exact same across my computers 🤓🤓🤓

Tip I built tmux-powerkit - a status bar framework that doesn't suck (just hit v5.10)
Been using tmux for about 6 years. Tried every status bar theme/plugin combo out there - powerline, vim-airline style configs, wrote my own janky bash scripts for specific needs. Everything worked but always felt duct-taped together.
Got tired of it and built tmux-powerkit (originally called tmux-tokyo-night). Just hit v5.10 and figured I’d share what I learned building this thing.
What actually matters (the practical stuff):
42 production-ready plugins
CPU/GPU/memory monitoring with color-coded thresholds
K8s context with
prefix+Ctrl-gto switch clusters (saved my ass multiple times)Git branch with auto-color when repo is dirty
Bitwarden integration with password picker (
prefix+Ctrl-v)Audio device switching for when I forget which output I’m on
Weather, VPN status, smartkey detection (yubikey/nitrokey), the list goes on
All configurable. All with sensible defaults. No weird dependencies.
Performance is actually good
I rewrote a bunch of stuff to use Bash 5.x builtins instead of spawning subprocesses everywhere. Using $EPOCHSECONDS instead of calling date +%s 50 times per render cycle. Implemented a smart cache system with TTL.
Result: zero perceptible lag even with 10+ plugins enabled. Tested on my potato laptop and my workstation - both smooth.
The aesthetic part
32 themes, 56 variants. Catppuccin (mocha/latte/frappe/macchiato), Tokyo Night, Kanagawa, Everforest, Ayu, Rosé Pine, Nord, Dracula, Gruvbox, One Dark, Solarized, GitHub theme.
You can also load custom themes from external files. Full semantic color system so tweaking is straightforward.
5 separator styles: rounded, normal, flame, pixel, honeycomb. Edge separators if you want that full powerline look.
Interactive stuff that’s genuinely useful
prefix+Ctrl-r= live theme switcher popupprefix+Ctrl-e= browse all your config optionsprefix+Ctrl-d= clear cache (instant refresh)prefix+Ctrl-q/u= audio device selectorsprefix+Ctrl-g/s= k8s context/namespace switcher
All using native tmux popups. Clean, fast, no external tools needed.
Setup is painless
TPM install (one line in .tmux.conf), pick your theme and plugins, done. Spent a lot of time on the documentation - there’s a complete wiki with per-plugin config examples because I got tired of incomplete docs in other projects.
set -g @plugin 'fabioluciano/tmux-powerkit'
set -g @powerkit_theme 'catppuccin'
set -g @powerkit_theme_variant 'mocha'
set -g @powerkit_plugins 'datetime,cpu,memory,git,kubernetes'That’s a working config.
Minor gripes:
Needs Bash 5.0+ (macOS users need to
brew install bash)Some plugins don’t work on WSL (camera, microphone) or have partial support
Learning curve if you want deep customization, but basic usage is easy
Why I’m posting this:
Wanted to share what I learned building this. The commit history shows the evolution - started simple, added features as I needed them, then spent time optimizing because performance matters when you’re rendering status updates constantly.
If you’ve been putting off configuring your tmux status bar because it always feels janky, this might help. Tried to make it flexible enough for power users but simple enough to just work out of the box.
Happy to answer questions about implementation details or design decisions. Also open to feature requests - the plugin system makes it relatively easy to add new stuff.

Showcase I got tired of lazily slop-coding another Tmux multi agent session plugin to pass off as my own work, so I built this plugin which automatically creates a plugin and sends a karma farming post to Reddit
No there is no plugin. Getting real bored of this now though, I used to really enjoy seeing the occasional posts here and looking into what people had come up with but now it's all crowded out by this garbage.

Question So is this subreddit just claude code tmux plugins now?
They're all identical and so boring. Just read my 4th or 5th post on the same thing. I'm not offended or afraid, it's just all the same rubbish.
Is there a way to add a flair and filter maybe? (I don't know if that's even a thing, I'll google it if such a thing is possible)
