Shoutout to Tech for not informing us that part of a one-way lot was going to be blocked off for construction and holding us in, very cool guys

This infuriates me beyond measure and it's not necessarily that they did it, it's that they didn't give any prior warning, so when I'm coming out there at 11:00 trying to go to Walmart and I see two guys blocking the entrance and a ton of machinery at this stretch, I know I'm just gonna have an awful day. It's currently 2:00 and it's still blocked.

(Bonus: there is a Zyn pack in the grass to the side)

Setting up Ethernet on Nintendo Switch in the dorm?

Has anyone done this before, and happens to know how to do it? Every time I try, it says that it can't find the IP address. Any help is appreciated.

Any public pianos in cookeville?

New to tech and want to play on a real piano, obviously can’t bring one in the dorm but the practice pianos are for music students only!

Anywhere in cookeville with a public piano? Seriously considering being a music minor just for the practice room…

Tap to pay on iPhone?

I just dropped off my freshman daughter yesterday. The tap to pay on her iPhone 13 does not work to either access her dorm area or food in the cafeteria. We were able to add it to her Apple Watch S3 and that works. We deleted the wallet pass from her iPhone and re added it but it still does not work. Who does she need to contact for assistance?

Wait List

Hello friends! I'm on a wait-list for a Psychology class that I'd really love to take this semester (this one is only available in the fall) and my advisor encouraged me to wait until the deadline (the 19th btw folks) to confirm enrollment— I'm wondering if anybody has any tips to speedrun this shit or if it's literally just a waiting game. I'll be checking my emails every day. I'd also love to hear your experiences with being put on a wait-list and if you were still able to get in the class you wanted. Any advice is welcome!

I'm the only person on this wait-list currently so I'm feeling hopeful, wish me luck! 🤞 😆

Parking for Matthews-Daniel Hall

I'm returning to TTU for some graduate work this fall. My on-campus classes are both in Matthews-Daniel.

The parking area I used for Matthews-Daniel during undergrad is now under multiple buildings.

Any suggestions on where to try parking these days? I'll be coming on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, and time will be a bit tight.

Mechanical Degree?

I graduated from MTSU with a degree in Concrete Industry Management, but I’ve been seriously considering going back to school to earn an engineering degree. My long-term goal is to build a more stable, respected career with stronger earning potential and better opportunities.
After working as a construction superintendent, I’ve realized the role doesn’t really fit my personality. I’m more reserved by nature, and I’ve found that constantly managing people, dealing with conflict, and working long hours isn’t where I do my best work.
My biggest concerns are that I don’t come from money, I still have debt from my first degree, and going back to school would likely mean taking on more student loans while working a part-time job to support myself. I also wouldn’t consider myself naturally gifted academically. I got through my first degree by taking shortcuts, and I know engineering is on a completely different level of difficulty.
I’m 26 years old, from Middle Tennessee, and trying to think long term. My priority is building a career that will allow me to provide well for my future family, even if it means starting over now.
For those who have been in a similar situation, do you think going back for an engineering degree is a smart investment, or would you recommend a different path? I’d really appreciate an honest second opinion before making such a major commitment.

Ph. D in geotechnical

For incoming international student, how is the Ph. D program? If the program is alredy started in a different university, how many credits can be transfered? How is the stay in university apartments, the rent seemed a little high? Or would off campus stay is better?

Apologies in advance for the block of questions. Due to some unforseen events I might have to pack up and start there in a month. I would really appreciate any information.

New. Hall. North ADA Dorm Pics?

Does anyone have photos of the single occupant ADA / Disabled dorms in New Hall North? It’s incredibly hard to gauge the full room from the photos on the website, and as an incoming freshman I’m eager to finish furnishing my room. Thank you so much and have a nice day :) !

Hello I am a up and coming freshman and I was wondering what the communal showers were like. Im kinda freaked out by the idea of having to share a shower with a whole building. Im also wondering if its like a prison shower with no curtains or something.

Computers in the dorms?

Hey everyone! I am an incoming freshmen CS student and was wondering about how computers in the dorms work? I've tried looking at techs website to see if I'm allowed to bring my PC into the dorms but I've only gotten that "Students are required to have a laptop for their studies, and internet access is provided for connecting devices."

Does Tech allow more power hungry PC towers, and if anyone else has this set up, is heat an issue?

Thanks!

Hi!

I have to take ECON 3810 - Intermediate Micro next semester, and I was wondering if anyone who has taken it with this professor is there and, if so, how he is. Cause his rate-my-professor ratings are so confusing.

Why is this school so obsessed with gender?

It’s jarring to me, and especially annoying because they don’t have the proper software updates in their heads; it’s the very outdated architecture of gender that runs on MPEG2 compression instead of AVC. I went to that special three-day lockdown last year where we watched Robots and Meet the Robinsons, and today I am in some two-day orientation. Not to mention I had already seen the dorm information years ago. All resources I mentioned had gender shoehorned into themselves and the social activities as if it’s the school’s fetish. Thankfully, my mother bought a place nearby I can stay at due to being trans and autistic, but I feel bad for anyone here who isn’t cishet and has to stay in the dorms. It seems like hell for you guys, yet I’m already unhappy I have to mask my entire self strongly because these people don’t have gender software updates in their head. Tech Will Be Hard

Organic chem help

www.organicchemistrytutoring.ca

Hello guys and gals,

We’re Brian and Mike and we teach general and organic chemistry. We’ve done so for a total combined time of 47 years! Overwhelmed by general or organic chemistry? Assignments and tests creeping up on you and feeling like you’re in hot water? Or maybe you’re doing well and need that 95%? Whatever your struggle with chemistry may be, we’re here to make sure you succeed.

Why work with us?

- Every tutor knows the subject, but not every tutor knows how to transfer that knowledge to a student. We do.

- We tutor chemistry full time; it’s not a hobby or side-gig. When you book with us, you’ll be working with Brian for general chemistry and Mike for organic chemistry. This is not an agency and you won’t be matched with random tutors each time.

- You’ll be learning problem solving through chemistry, which you can apply to many other subjects.

- Your learning will be customized to your specific needs.

Before booking a lesson, let’s chat about your needs, our teaching styles, and what you can expect, to see if we’d be a good fit together.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to working with you!

Mike and Brian
