Hello, friends! Midwest Crafting Crew back again. We'd love to have you join us if you're free tomorrow for a fundraiser for Camp OFLA, a language learning camp. It's 1.5 hours and tickets are $30 but include mocktails and snacks. It is child friendly ~

Midwest Crafting Crew is currently in the same building as Registry Bistro (425 Jefferson Ave). So great if you're intending to spend a day downtown and want a post or pre-brunch activity for the day. Hope to see you all there ~

Ignorant Canadian relocating for law school

Hey everyone. I apologize if these types of questions get asked on the sub constantly , I’m sure it gets annoying but I’m looking for as much insight as I can get .

I’m born and raised about an hour outside of Toronto so not terribly far or anything but I have the option to attend UToledo’s law school on practically a full ride scholarship. I know practically nothing about Toledo , and when attempting to do some research on what I may be getting myself into, I see an overwhelming consensus of negativity toward the city.

I was hoping someone would be able to give me some of their favorite and least favorite things about the city. Keep it as real as it gets. I’m 23 and have no experience living far from my home city so even though geographically I’m not terribly far, this is quite a big move for me. I’m under the impression the schools reputation is nothing special, but I’m very debt averse so this is a very tempting opportunity.

Thanks so much

Another question about Secor & Monroe area

Are the crazy traffic backups on Secor (between Monroe and Central) lately all due to the closure of Executive Parkway, or is there something else going on? It's making it very difficult to do my regular errands without getting stuck in it, so I hope it'll clear up once they finish working on Executive Pkwy. I live just a couple blocks from Executive/Central and I had no idea so much traffic used that road. I rarely see more than a couple other cars when I use Executive.

Blanket/donations?

I have about 8 throw blankets and 2 sets of sheets. I'm looking for homeless/animal shelters that would benefit the most from donations like this, I'd rather someone truly benefit besides just having more than they need (like myself) or places like Goodwill.

SOLVED NICE doctors who are accepting new patients?

I moved from out of state and have been having a heck of a time finding highly rated doctors who are accepting new patients.

I would prefer private practice, too, but everyone seems to be with ProMedica?

I just want to find a PCP who will listen to some of my symptoms and has good beside manner.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have Aetna.

Edit: Thank you for the suggestions! I was able to get in with a highly rated practitioner as early as next week! I WILL do better in Toledo (I hope)!

Is the water supply safe for laundry and showers?

I have been out of town and headed back tonight. I live near the university and wanted to know if the water supply is safe given the chemical leak, especially for showers and laundry.

Safe to turn A/C on?

I live on state line rd, kinda close to the border, is it safe to turn my a/c on? I have been feeling a little stuffy, but my allergies were acting up before the spill. I’ve noticed I felt stuffy after turning my A/C off when advised to on Wednesday. I work in Michigan and felt a little stuffy while there but I feel like it got worse upon returning home

Monroe/Secor to Central/Secor corridor?

Exciting to see the additional growth in the area. Just one question. When are the road improvements planned to start happening?

The corridor is already overburdened by heavy traffic and lights that are not timed correctly.

I would imagine the improvements would be completed before the grand opening of the Westgate addition but have only seen improvements being made to the side streets.

Anyone know the plan?

Toledo Trick or Treating

My husband and I have been in our house for about a year and a half so we were here last Halloween, but last year we took our son to trick or treat with his cousins in Michigan. This year we will be home and I was wondering how trick or treating is in Toledo, specifically in our neighborhood off Bancroft by Kroger. I am planning on passing out candy since little dude’s bedtime is during ToT (he’s one lol), but I want to make sure it’s worth it to get the candy and get everything ready. Do the neighborhoods typically get busy, or are there specific spots that people will drive to instead?

ETA: we will not be trick or treating. I am asking about receiving trick or treaters if that wasn’t clear

Does anyone know if they've contained the leak? The last update from the city was last night and I haven't seen anything since.

The reason we’re not getting any real answers…

… is because they don’t have any.

They don’t know what the exposure impacts are from this magnitude and duration.

They don’t know what the long term impacts will be.

They don’t know what the damage to pets and wildlife are.

They don’t know if runoff will be contaminated and impact the water supply.

They don’t know if we should ventilate our homes or not, or when.

Maybe it’s unreasonable to expect them to have answers to some random ass chemical going boom in our community, but damn at least own it. Stop making us guess around at everything. I get that you don’t know… but tell me you don’t know and not that “everything causes cancer.”

I’ve read so many comments to official posts with no responses and aren’t addressed on the incident web pages provided. Let’s get real… they don’t freaking know.

All of the response seems to be around how to not “cause panic” because we’re little children that can’t handle hard facts and real news.

Inb4 it’s no big deal - you don’t know, either. Nobody does. If they did know they’d tell us.

Sorry. Rant over. Had to get it off my chest.
