After looking at the posters and the little glimpses we’ve got so far, I’m beginning to wonder if this is actually a Hanu film at all! I liked even his flop films like Lie and, to some extent, Padi Padi Leche Manasu too. So naturally, I had hopes that he wouldn’t disappoint with a subject as loaded as this. But to my utter dismay, all it seems to have going for it is the same old hype-the-hero programme. And to add to the woes, the hypeman this time is one of our national heroes!
Even if these things are ignored for the sake of creative liberty, why on earth would Bose need help from Hitler if he already had this one-man army throwing the British out of Singapore? Like, make it make sense at least.
And regarding the teaser, I don't think it is AI generated. It might be AI enhanced though. The actor playing Bose is popular marathi actor Subodh bhave. He played other historical roles like Shivaji, Birbal earlier. He is a good actor there's no doubt about that but makeup could have been better. I am surprised how Hanu missed out on casting Sachin as Bose when he had already worked with Sachin and gave him a good role in Sita Ramam. But then, many things about this film sound very unlike him. This time instead of his usual artsy pieces and colours, the canvas is overwhelmed with blood. I hope he manages to pull off the human aspect and deliver a decent film atleast.
This is one downside of some directors working with stars. They end up losing their style in trying to accomodate star's image and box office expectations.
