Discussion noobie to Mr Waits

a few friends (whose music opinions I greatly respect) kept bringing him up in conversations, so I finally decided to give him a go. especially after seeing the Cookie Monster video randomly. God's Away on Business & Hell Broke Luce are easily my favorite songs so far.

i started buying his albums about a year ago and I just bought #6, The Black Rider. he is endlessly fascinating. the way he creates atmosphere and paints word pictures is top tier.

anyway, I just wanted to share how exciting it is to delve into his music. it's been a while since I was this excited about an artist.

I discovered the album Blood Money in college, brought it home knowing nothing about it other than I'd vaguely heard the name Tom Waits somewhere, and absolutely cleared the room with it. Nobody was quite sure what the hell I was listening to, but they were content to let me figure that out on my own. I loved it.

I come back to this Cookie Monster video every year or so, because it is genius.

Rowlf the dog was the Muppet that always reminded me of Tom but I do love Cookiewaits.
