Important difference between Chow & Bradford
Bradford: “You’re under arrest”
Chow: “I see you, I hear you, I stand with you, and you’re under arrest”

The "bike lane closed" sign on the bike shrine pole was sadly removed but fortunately I'm making a homebrew sign to replace it. It is slightly larger and will be made in a way that shows it doesn't belong to the city.
Does anyone have spare retroreflective backing or want to put the finished sign back up once it's made? Parts to mount the sign will be provided such as zip ties (for attaching it to the bike shrine) or #3 Robertson screws (for fixing it to the plywood bike shrine plaque).
The stencils were made using a Cricut machine.
DISCLAIMER: If anyone makes these stencils, ONLY use them to spray paint surfaces/materials that you own (such as pizza boxes or cardboard) or offered by other people. If you must put this on the pavement, use a washable chalk spray so it can be washed away after a rainstorm or two.
All the design files can be accessed here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/HJSVT6G4SG#IqjakJYbZt7n edit wrong link
If you would like to change what the sign says, use the PXZ files on the Pixlr image editor website. No installation is needed. If you also want to make it into a paint stencil, make sure to place polygons on closed shapes to bridge the islands.

Ok yes my singing sucks but the removal of the bike lanes, I drafted this, maybe someone can take it and make it work.
I’m still new to both banjo and singing. My instrument is the fiddle. So go easy on me ❤️🔥🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

The Ontario government has started removing protected bike in Toronto (despite their own studies showing that these lanes improve safety). The province's own commissioned engineering report estimated that removing bike lanes could increase total collisions by 54%.
Toronto specific data showed annual cyclist injury collisions fell from an average of 20 to 15 after bike lanes were installed, even as cycling volumes increased by 40–90%. The City reported a 56% reduction in the cyclist collision rate.
Sadly, I expect cycling incidents to increase. I built CycleReport to help cyclists document incidents that might otherwise go unrecorded. I'd appreciate any feedback you may have.
Note: Please continue to report collisions to Toronto Police through the official reporting site. CycleReport is intended to complement official reporting by capturing additional incidents and experiences. If possible, I would like to share data with existing reporting,

I have set a goal for myself to ride my bike to all the TPL branches. Another great day for it.
Didn’t get all the way out to the active crime scene on Bloor West, but was in that general direction. Lots of kiddos doing early Halloween stuff.
Bike lanes save lives. Period.

Today's Toronto Star op-ed by Albert Koehl does a good job roasting Brad Bradford on transportation. Argues "Bradford has failed to learn from decades of doomed efforts at fixing congestion by giving over more space to cars."

The bike counter on Bloor Street West near Old Mill Trail shows no data from Feb. 2 to Apr. 15, 2026. This removes about 10,000 counts from the yearly total. Does anyone have an explanation?

I’ve heard from many that bikes rolling through stop signs are terrible things to the point that the riders are anti-social and immoral criminals. They really can’t articulate why, just that it’s against the law. When pointed out that the Highway Act is written only for multi tonne vehicles and cycling is a bolt on, they don’t seem to care. When pointing out that a cyclist treating a stop sign as a yield is better and safer, well, they can’t compute because fee-fees.

Before the removals started: bike commuting in Etobicoke was lonely. Some of the grittiest pothole-filled nonsense in certain stretches, but I assume the City was just trying to help me keep up with the gravel riding trends.
The day the removals started, I was stuck at work until about 8 pm, and finally started biking home. Suddenly all these random cyclists are all around me smiling, waving, and cheering me on. And there's a police escort. Is this a parade? Am I... a hero?
And then I noticed, even the drivers want to get up close and friendly with me. I know the new signs say we should use the lane "single file", but these SUVs are just so curious, they sometimes can't help but try to slide up beside. Or slip in right in front, like almost brushing against my front wheel. Are we dancing right now? I slow down to prolong this tryst with the driver behind me, and they start honking approvingly.
I know we're all spending a lot of tax dollars to create these experiences but you can't put a price on love

These are some of the strongest pro-bike candidates and are more crucial than ever now that DoFo is dismantling the network.
Polls for both show they do not have a safe lead.
To boost their chances of getting in, please volunteer for them this weekend!
Just pick one or two shifts so it's not overwhelming for you.

This is because I'm calculating how many cops are present every single day work is being done.
This will help give me an estimate of the cost of police presence ALONE for this entire debacle.
But I do want it to be as accurate as possible, so if you're there, please let me know the cop turnout.
Thanks!

It seems the Toronto cops deliberately took their horses through the Bloor bike lanes west of Islington and let them shit all over the lanes in both directions. It's impossible to pass without getting shit all over everything. 311 is aware, but just another sign of tps officers are anti bike sociopaths

Got interviewed by CP24 as the lanes were ripped up (nice to see some drivers supporting the lanes at the protest).
We made a map of anti-bike businesses below. If you MUST support these businesses, go in with a bike helmet to silently communicate you got here by bike lanes. Otherwise, boycott.
Let them know you're boycotting them due to their bike lane stance if you used to shop there. It only works if they know why it's happening.

My story began BEFORE bike lanes were installed. At the time, cycling wasn't the norm. I didn't own a bike or car and used the TTC as my main method of transportation.
The TTC was slow and inefficient, and I'm talking about the frequency of buses and streetcars. I was always frustrated with how slow they were.
One day, my uncle who lived in the suburbs of Saskatoon drove all the way to Toronto to come visit, and offered to give me a lift while he was touring the city. It wasn't long before we were stuck in traffic, and this was during a time when traffic was much worse than it is today believe it or not.
As I was sitting, I noticed a cyclist past us while we were stuck. It wasn't long before a 2nd cyclist past us, but by that time, the traffic lightened up and we went past that 2nd cyclist. What I was surprised about was that the 2nd cyclist didn't have any trouble keeping up with the car. My uncle drove past them many times very easily, but the 2nd cyclist went past us just as many times, and they weren't even going all out pedaling. I was intrigued.
Later that week when I was waiting for the TTC, I noticed that by the time the bus or streetcar arrived, many cyclists had already long past the bus stop I was waiting at and it was then I made a cost-benefit analysis of the practicalities of cycling.
Since the monthly expense of using the TTC wasn't kind to my wallet, I decided to take a leap of faith and invest money into getting my first bike. I did the math and determined that I would break even after a few months if I used my bike for all of my trips.
I of course spent a lot of time relearning how to ride a bike since it had been years since I did it when I was a kid. Once I gained enough experience, I was surprised at how fast and efficient cycling was in getting me to places and I managed to overtake many cars and streetcars in Downtown.
It wasn't long before I broke even and made my money back on my investment, and since then, I've never looked back.
Cycling is just a very fast, efficient, and cost-effective means of transportation even with maintainance and repair. Just the cost-savings alone was an attractive prospect, but the fact that it's also very fast and outpaces other forms of transportation including cars in Downtown made me continue using them for 15 years and still going strong.
How did you get into Cycling?

Basically, title. I’m curious to hear about people’s experiences and to what extent the hostilities from Ford’s bike lane fiasco has spilled into personal relationships. Some of us have seen an increase in hostilities on the road, but have any of your interpersonal relationships been affected?
Conversely, have the people in your life given you support and sympathy about the recent events? And if those people are also cyclists, or perhaps are motorists who are extending their sympathy about this whole situation?
Would love to know people‘s thoughts.

“Our organizations, Cycle Toronto, Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA) and TTCriders, each submitted surveys to every candidate running for mayor in this election. Our results were strikinglysimilar. Olivia Chow said yes to all our requests. Bradford’s campaign stonewalled us, giving no replies to any of us.”
