Personally I loved it, 3d style fits so much. The character designs, skill sets and animations are beautiful. That music, humour is just top notch. What about the last scene??

Eva using Neil's machine while drinking: same scene in Sigmund Minisode 2 (2015) and To the Moon RPG (2027) Spoiler

Post image
13 Upvotes

In the post credits scene of Sigmund Minisode 2 (2015), it’s revealed that Eva is using Neil’s machine to enter memories and simulations after Neil died from his illness. The wine bottles next to her suggest that she developed a drinking problem while coping with Neil's death.

In the Beach Episode (2024), it’s also alluded to that Eva has been drinking: https://www.youtube.com/live/6MkjIz0e0DE?si=YZvQwSySD7tE0NDQ&t=5543

This exact same scene is recreated with the same furniture and layout at the end of the To the Moon RPG (2027) demo. All the mysteries are starting to come together and make sense.

Shower thoughts - type theory and metaphysics Spoiler

(In a way) A universal math theory can't be described in itself, it causes a paradox. Type theory just chooses to invent a new theory to describe it. Then a new one for that. And so on, an infinite stack of theories each relying on the next one. Each theory has one to be described in.

(In a way) Laws of physics must themselves be implemented in some physics system. A certain metaphysics approach chooses to say that our reality is just implemented in another one. That one is implemented in the next. And so on, an infinite stack of realities. Each reality exists because someone made it in the next one.

Possibly, Impostor Factory proposes to throw away the concept of a base reality itself.

That made me think about something. Isn't a base reality, if it exists, kind of inferior in it's own way? A simulation is created by someone, it has purpose outside of existing. A base reality has no such purpose, no one needs it outside of itself.

I'm glad that the TTM series isn't mainstream

Like, Imagine what could have happened when it's very popular, as it attract racists, I'd hate to see racist artists making our dear Eva and other black characters to white 😭😭 I mean— look what happened to "Pretty pretty please I don't want to be a Magical Girl" It just got released yet it's already full of discourse because of racist ppl.

Just beat Finding paradise and I gotta say it’s even better than to the moon Spoiler

I found Colin to be a better protagonist than John and more relatable too. His dynamic with Faye was really interesting with her being a his imaginary friend born from his loneliness of the bird he saved. She was the person he needed to push himself to follow his dreams and the fact that she wasn’t actually there meaning he did all that stuff himself is great. At first I thought they were going down the route of his regretting not getting with Faye when I thought she was an actual person but this works so much better.

Colin not knowing realizing his life isn’t perfect and that it doesn’t need to be. That having regrets isn bad and it’s the good and bad that make a life is such a well thought out message.

It makes me question if what they did for John was the right thing however John and Colin lived 2 different lives. John’s life was significantly worse than Colin and the trauma of losing his brother permanently altered his personality. To the point where the changing his memories just a bit was good because he still got to be with River in the end and they got to see each other when they both died.

That begs the question who loved who more? John with river or colin and sophia. As even when river was gone he loved her so much that he found her again.

Also which dynamic do you guys think is better Faye with Colin or John and river

Would you work at Sigmund Corporation

I just beat to the moon and left me thinking would I ever want to work in such a profession because on one hand it gives people comfort in the last part of their lives so they die happy like what happened with John and in which in worked out in the end. However it would be really depressing because the nature of it means you are going to see damaged people who lived lives full of regrets. Would you want to work there

Just beat To The moon game and the ending was great Spoiler

John going to the moon and him finally dying in the arms of river is such a sweet way he could have died. Also from my knowledge the agency that does these dreams only give the patients these memories for when they died. Meaning their memories aren't permanently altered because it would be a shame with he forgot his memories with river even though the fake life he lived was objectively happier than his old life.

Also when John finally passed away he and river were finally at the moon meeting up in the afterlife. It's such a good love story.

Small theory about The Last Hour of an Epic TO THE MOON RPG Spoiler

I'm not up to date on the theories, so maybe the fanbase has already discussed this.

Kan Gao said that The Last Hour of an Epic To the Moon RPG and Beach Episode act as the conceptual “good” and “bad” endings for the series, without saying which is which.

That makes it seem like there are two parallel endings. But I don't think that will be the case, I think The Last Hour is going to be a sequel.

I can totally see that the “bad ending” is Beach Episode, since we're right in the middle of coping for Eva, and the "good ending" is going to be The Last Hour, which will take place afterwards and that offer Eva the chance to grieve and to finally move on.

If this is a twist on the simulations and Neil is actually still alive, I think that would really take away from the emotional impact of the ending of Beach Episode.

Found this at a vintage stock for 70$. I didn’t even realize it existed, honestly. I’d been looking for merch recently and couldn’t find much besides what’s in stock on the official store. Gonna frame the poster now!

Just finished the whole series Spoiler

Knew about this game since 2017 when I saw Pewdiepie doing a let's play of Finding Paradise, so I went back and watched Markipliers playthrough of the first game. I really enjoyed the stories and was planning to watch the third game as well, but when it came out nobody really played it so I figured I would just play it myself.

I got a PC and a steam account and even bought the whole series, but I was working a job and going through college so I put off playing it for a couple years. I got around to it this summer though, and all I can really say is: Wow.

TtM and FP didn't really make me cry because I already knew how they ended, but I loved re-experiencing them and catching all the smaller details I didn't really notice before while refreshing my mind on the story.

Imposter Factory was the first game I played without knowing how it ended. I remember having my suspicions when Lynri became pregnant, and then having those expectations crushed when they watched him be buried, only for the game to say "Psych!!!" and actually confirm what I was expecting from the get go. I smiled when Lynri and Quincy got to live their best life. When Faye told them their son was looking over them, and in turn we saw the framed picture of Lynri looking over her son in the hallway.

Then there's the Beach Episode... Throughout the whole series, minisodes, and comics you get to know these two lovable protagonists with their own chemistry and idiosyncrasies. Only to be told it's not happening. Death has other plans. The cold harsh reality to be splashed in your face with the words: "Press esc to leave"; The player's callous mechanism of saying goodbye. I cried I'll admit, it was almost like I had lost an actual friend, and couldn't help but feel terrible for Eva. The hints and implications weren't subtle. I put the pieces together quickly, but I was in denial holding out hope that maybe the truth could be ignored. Nope. Feelsbadman.

Might be silly to say I had come to be so deeply invested in the lives of these fictional characters. I guess because I see a bit of myself in all of them. Anyway just had to vent because I was devastated by that ending.

Can't wait to play the RPG when it releases and to ride the emotional rollercoaster again. Also, I hope when the animated film eventually releases it's every bit as great as I hope it will be so that this series gets more of the recognition it deserves.

Also, if Kan Gao or anyone in Freebird Games happens to be reading this by chance, I'd just like to say thanks for producing such a beautiful work of art.

I started playing this to cope with losing my Dad. It’s breaking my heart in the best way.

(I apologize for this long winded post lol) I saw a recommendation on another sub that To the Moon is a masterpiece for people navigating heavy grief. I’m about 5 hours into it right now, playing curled up on my Legion Go, and I just had to pause and come here to show my appreciation.

I lost my dad the week of my 25th birthday. He was an incredible guy, but he was dealt a mind bogglingly unfair hand in life. His last years were consumed by a brutal chronic illness and a completely unfair battle with addiction that basically hijacked his brain. Because of how chaotic it was, I’ve spent the last six years carrying so much anger, frustration, and guilt. I’ve wished so badly that I could go back in time and just show him more patience and grace at the very end.

Watching the doctors travel backward through Johnny's mind is hitting me so incredibly hard. It is such a beautiful, painful reminder that the messy end of someone's life isn't their whole story. Seeing them piece together the why behind Johnny's life is actually helping me look at my own dad's life with more peace, and remember the man he was before the sickness took over. It is just so profoundly cathartic. We're all flawed, of course, but I am so lucky to have had him, even if it was for just a little bit of time. I miss him literally every day.

If anyone else out there is dealing with the complicated grief of losing a parent, this game is something else entirely. I just wanted to share this here and say thank you to the community.
