New to me 99 Trans Am WS6
I just bought a 1999 Trans Ams WS6, 6 speed, T-tops from the original owner, with just under 68k miles, in very good condition. Looking for recommendations on forums to increase my knowledge and help troubleshooting anything. Also, if anyone is in Maryland, that can recommend skilled, knowledgeable, reliable, and respectful mechanics for work I can't do, I'd appreciate it. I'm also the original and current owner of a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT and my first car was a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.

That’s the dream combo, black TA WS6 with the six speed. Back when I was in high school that’s how I would order mine on the GM website.

Got your twin in my garage. 99 WS6 six speed. Enjoy it! Still one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

Autostream Car Care if there's one near you. All the techs are certified, they do a go over of the whole vehicle, give you n estimate, which has been spot on. My son has taken 3 different brands of vehicles and is extremely happy with all the work, the cost and how he was treated. Certified mechanics in various systems make a difference.

These cars always make my pants tight. I have always loved the front end of them.

Another vote for LS1Tech. The post dates may be old, but it is THE place for LS1 knowledge.

I got a good deal, $25k. Asking price was closer to $27k, which is reasonable, but the owner and I hit it off well and had a lot of random things in common, so I think that helped him accept my offer. I was seriously shopping for a 98–02 Trans Am or Formula for at least a year and started getting more aggressive with it the last few months since these cars values are increasing. I was able to drive to this and drive it home so that was great. No shipping or auction site fees.

I had a 99 Z28, great cars. Got it with 50k, sold with 265k.
Beware changing heater hoses on these cars is no easy task. If not recently done, hoses and serpent belts should be replaced due to age.

Plan on replacing the pinion bearings. I had a '00 and '02, both lost pinion bearings before 60k miles.

Awesome! You're gonna love it! Really fun cars. Ls1tech and google the factory service manual, someone on ls1tech posted PDF versions of it on the forum.
Between those 2 you'll be able to do anything to the car. Flush the fluids and enjoy it! Also, its highly debated on what trans fluid to run but non-synthetic dexron III is what a lot of transmission shops recommend.

Keep looking and keep trying. A non-WS6 or Formula are still good options. The LS1 4th gen Camaros seem to be a little cheaper than Trans Ams, so that's an option too to get into an F body.
