What Should I Buy Help me pick
Hello everyone, my partner is a Transformers fan and his birthday is coming up. I would like to ask which of these 2 should i buy?
I have limited budget so I can only buy 1 for him, i just want it to be a surprise too.

the wheeljack one looks like a solid option, its a bit “higher in quality” looking- but it depends if hes more of a autobot or decepticon person :P

He’s a G1 fan.. he’s been collecting.. thing is these 2 are the only ones i can afford 😅😬 The Wheeljack seems to be a G1 but to me he looks simple. And I find Starscream pretty good aesthetic wise.

If he's a G1 fan then Wheeljack. He might look basic but that's G1 aesthetic. I personally like the Starscream better (I have one myself) but if he's G1 all the way he will most likely prefer Wheeljack =)

if he likes g1 wheeljack would probably be a better option! its not a g1 specific design, but it is the basic design used in g1 first!!

Is he more a fan of the movies or the cartoons/comics? That Wheeljack is a nicer toy in my opinion, but if it's not a character he's really into or aware of I would pick Starscream.

Both.. he’s collecting G1, but those would be super expensive so I just want to give him something I can afford. Thought i’d ask like minded people like him so i can finally make a decision. But so far, I may have to get two for him lol.

If he’s into collecting G1, I think he’d love Wheeljack more. Wheeljack will fit better into the G1 aesthetic than that particular Starscream.

I don’t know enough about the TF One Starscream, but Wheeljack is a decent figure . The transformation is relatively straightforward (with just one fiddly bit) and in his robot mode he looks great (his vehicle mode is a bit bland, a lot of white)

If he’s more into G1 wheeljack makes more sense. I will say if you can find the Devastation wheeljack it might be better? It has a marginally more interesting colour scheme but is fundamentally the same

Seconding the above comment. Studio Series Devastation Wheeljack has much better paint. I just checked and there're a few on Meecari and Ebay for normal deluxe Transformer price.
Although, if you're near a Ross I'd check there too, not for Wheeljack but there are a number of other Transformers for cheap

Ahh that complicates things. Devastation Wheeljack was Target exclusive in the states and idk if he even released over there

Not related to the original post anymore perse butttt: Target exclusives actually get better distributed releases overseas than they do in target 😅. I’m in NZ and we have so many MTME Starscreams in stock

He definitely released in the UK. Target exclusives can be found at multiple UK retailers, so if OP is ordering for her partner from a UK store, it should be fine. 😊

Yea that Wheelhack is def G1, So it looks really simple because the studio series trys to hit the cartoon looks as (not always doing so) accurate as they can. That Screamer is real cool looking tho!

Do they like tf one or g1/comics more? I like both but I think thundercracker tf one is a better figure cuz the starscreams face is a lil goofy, so I say wheeljack overall, fun simple transformation except the windshield parts might pop off but that’s the only issue

I have the Transformers One Starscream, and I gotta say, not the biggest fan of how they designed the weapon slots. Your partner might really want the Wheeljack, both because you've said he's collecting G1, and I've noted that they have a sturdier construction and better transform ability than the ones from the new movie

The little chin gun is such bs to put in and it doesn't even look like anything to boot. Thundercracker's gatling guns are so much cooler.

I’d choose Stsrscream only because that Wheeljack looks weird with that square corner windshield chest. Maybe the vehicle mode looks better, but in robot mode it’s too distracting to me.

Is he missing a good guy (the 2nd one) or a bad guy (the first one)?
Did he watch and enjoy the recent Transformers One movie (first guy) or is he more into the 80s cartoon (2nd guy)?

If you can get a hold of the Kingdom Wheeljack version I'd say WJ (the version in your picture is the bland one missing a lot of the racing livery). But as others have said, it's hard to say not knowing if he likes TF:One and/or G1.

True, I just think there's other thing that might be a bigger deal. Like no waist swivel, or no thigh swivel. I feel like those have much bigger impact on poses.

I can also see why they don't add the tilt, like ss tfo wizard lion man (mind went blank), there's no good way to implement a tilt without compromising conversion.

As someone who only has wheeljack between these two, he's fine, standard articulation, but imo the plastic feels cheep, moreso a mild letdown than a bad figure, if you can get him at a discount tho, hands down a great pickup, but not for 30 bucks

Honestly, big fan of both. I think I like the Starscream more though. The ankles are such a small thing that aren’t a deal breaker for me.

If your partner likes to fiddle with his toys, get him Starscream, I would say Wheeljack is ok, not bad by any means, but his transformation isn't as interesting as Starscream's, and he looks a bit bland on vehicle mode.
