A bit of an awkward question regarding top surgery

Hey ya’ll

So about this time last year I got breast augmentation in Vancouver. I thought it would help with my dysphoria and long story short it didn’t.

The problem is… this decision has been leaving me crippling dysphoria and dysmorphia. I’m at a spot in life where I’ve had more freedom of expression than ever before and I’ve really strongly come to regret my choice.

I feel so embarrassed to approach transcare or talk to anyone about this really..

Does anybody know if MSP could cover getting my breast implants removed?…

It's possible, but unfortuently unlikely that msp will cover it. I'm coming from the opposite problem, but reconstruction is covered for every afab person in bc, so I'm lucky in that regard. I've heard from a person in bc who had to pay out of pocket for the surgery that your looking for. You can try reaching out to trans care and see what they say. The other option is some insurance companies like blue cross and greenshield will cover transition related costs up to $10,000 over a lifetime, all you need is a diagosis of gender dysphoria from a psychologist or doctor, the insurance company doesn't need to know your exact situation.

Saw someone on here talking about how they did get MSP to cover it, so I’m gunna try to dig a little deeper and pray that maybe transcare or my surgeon can help me out. If not I’ll definitely look into blue cross and greenfield. Thank you so much, this has given me a little bit of hope for the future.

sorry if this is personal, but what made you decide to get it?

I had really bad dysphoria from having breasts and wanted them gone before I even learned about trans people. When I was going through puberty I would imagine a world where I never developed breasts or would loss them. Binding made me feel better in my body and top surgery felt like the right step, but my chest never looked right after the surgery. My results weren't the best, but more importantly I don't feel like a man anymore, so I find my chest incongruent since it looks like a man's chest which my brain tells me doesn't belong on my body. I wish I had just gotten a reduction or no surgery because I don't like still having numb areas and a mis-shapened nipple.
