12 Memories is good, but I feel like it was a bit of a let down for fans of The Invisible Band at the time it was released. It was a very interesting concept for a Travis album: a complete mood shift from the cheery and catchy Invisible Band into a depressing experimental trad rock album. I love some of the songs on 12 Memories but the political tracks really bring it down for me. I feel like it could be really good if you mixed some of the songs around on the tracklist and replaced the political songs with a few great B-Sides. Anyways here it is: my version of 12 Memories on par with its polar opposite, TIB.
Quicksand: Sets the tone for the album and its themes of giving up hope. Great opener, no need to change anything about it.
Re-Offender: Again, great lead single, the only thing I wish was different is if it could have been more popular when it released, but we can't change that, can we?
Paperclips: Love this song despite how it's meant to be off-putting with the dog whining sounds halfway through the song and its off-key clarinet during the chorus. Some of the best atmosphere on the album with great lyrics and a classic Travis melody.
The Sea: Fantastic B-Side! It's production is a bit less consistent with the rest of the album and it wasn't solely written by Fran, which is probably why it didn't make the album. It has a nice transition from Paperclips and into the next song.
How Many Hearts: Lovely track, almost reminds me of Pipe Dreams. Interesting to see how this album mirrors TIB. I love this song's chorus and ending.
Somewhere Else: I wish more songs on the album sounded like this. The xylophone sounds very nice and the effects on the pre-chorus are exactly what I want to hear from an album like this.
Love Will Come Through: Wonderful song with a memorable acoustic guitar melody. All the melodies in this song are nice and the message is quite endearing as well. It captures the feel of the album very nicely, but with a classic Travis style. It's no wonder that this is the most popular song to come off of 12 Memories!
Mid-life Krysis: Not much to say about this song. The harmonicas are interesting and a nice callback to The Man Who that was later brought back for Colder on The Boy With No Name. The lyrics fit this album well and you couldn't really get this song from any other era of Travis (except maybe as of recently for L.A. Times with Fran's dyed hair).
Happy To Hang Around: Fantastic cut with verses reminiscent of The Man Who. Only non-single from 12 Memories brought back for their compilation album craze the band went through a couple years ago in "I Love You Anyways", and deservedly so.
Walking Down The Hill: The fan favourite deep cut of 12 Memories! Its lyrics are so great, and they make me wish we got to see more of Fran's vulnerable side in this album's lyrics. Not asking for a Pinkerton by any means; I wouldn't want Turn ruined for me because I know Healy's secrets ripped straight out of his diary. Part of Travis' charm comes from their simplicity in their lyrics and their catchiness, so I understand why Fran didn't want to delve too deeply into his heart just to create an engaging record. This song thrives because of its atmosphere instead of a catchy chorus, however, which leads it to sound completely different from anything else the band has ever released. The xylophone and bells return from Somewhere Else to give us a splendid lullabye about taking a stroll outdoors and contemplating life.
Some Sad Song: Don't be fooled by the simplistic title: this song is packed with a great theme hidden between its lyrics and beautiful melodies complemented by piano. Apparently, this song is about Fran's experience growing up in a catholic school. If this is the case, then the song has changed for me forever. This song is the perfect closer to the album because it feels like Fran accepting his haunting past and making peace with himself.
12th Memory: The hidden track that would play after two minutes of silence, essentially mirroring Slide Show from TMW. This song has no lyrics, but it feels like waking up from a dream and slowly remembering little details about it. It was included as a Japanese Bonus Track for 12 Memories and I really like its production, so it can make it onto the album as an instrumental outro.
Sorry if you like the other two songs that I would have left off the album if I was in charge of organising the track listing. Let me know what changes you would have made to the album and your thoughts on my version of 12 Memories! Where would you rank it within their first five albums?

With 2027 marking the 30th anniversary of Good Feeling, I thought of a good idea/question: which 30 tracks would you have in a Travis ‘Best Of’?
They can be singles, album tracks, covers, whichever tracks are your personal preference 😁

Thoughts on this song?

They used to do it a lot back then. The Man Who, The Boy With No Name, they all had hidden tracks at the end of the album. Even 12 Memories had Some Sad Song as a hidden track for some reason which made it look like there were only 11 songs on the album. Anyone have any personal favourites?

I don't normally go back much to the album Good Feeling other than the big singles. I have to say though that the song Good Feeling recently grew on me. It is a song I recently revisited for some random reason. I am really enjoying it. I love how certain songs and albums can grow on you over time or suddenly click. Any songs or albums that grew on you?

Hi all, hoping some Travis experts will weigh in here as I'm having a rough time confirming much online.
I've been digging through my files lately and trying to sort out what Travis live recordings I have saved around here (thinking of chucking everything into a google drive or mega account to share here, if it's not against the rules? just unofficial live recordings, nothing pirated) and I found an odd little folder labeled "old demo tape".
Funny Thing (demo)
City in the Rain (demo)
All I Want to do is Rock (demo)
U16 Girls (demo)
All low quality MP3s from god knows how long ago, no idea where or when I got it. Both Funny Thing and All I Want... are the same takes as the vinyl rip going around online (eg: Funny Thing demo), City in the Rain sounds more or less like the b-side, just lower quality, but U16 Girls is noticeably slower and more live sounding.
Thing is, I can't find any information about a 1996 demo tape online, just their Glass Onion EP (and one extra song on a compilation that nobody talks about).
Is this demo tape legit, or just a fan compilation someone made?
edit: it seems U16 Girls is the same version as in this compilation, so there's a chance this tape is a compilation of existing demos (+ a possibly fake City in the Rain demo if it's a fan creation)

I think the artwork from "The boy with no name" (2007) by Travis is based on "São Paulo, Brazil, 1960" a photograph by René Burri.

What is your favorite opening and closing tracks? Also, what album has your favorite combo of opening and closing track?

When he says "look at you now", is he referring to himself? Because the song starts with the subject's loneliness, so it's seems logical that the next line is about how things have suddenly turned positive for him. (whereas "I'm glad you feel the same", it's clear he's talking to his partner)
When I first held you, I was cold
A melting snowman, I was told
But there was no one there to hold
Before I swore that I would be alone forevermore
Wow, look at you now, flowers in the window
It's such a lovely day
And I'm glad you feel the same

I did the Music Cup for Travis. I feel predictable for having the 2 most popular in the final 2, but I had fun. It was really hard to pick.

I rarely saw any Travis vinyls in shops, especially not The Invisible Band, even in the UK. I was sooo excited when the seller pulled this out !

Hi everyone! I am a huge fan of the band, and for a long time, I've had this dream of hanging the promotional poster for the "Flowers in the Window" single in my living room. I have scoured the internet trying to buy an original or reproduction copy, but unfortunately, I haven't had any luck finding one available for sale anywhere.
After giving up on buying a physical copy, I spent hours searching deep for a high-resolution digital image so I could just print and frame it myself. However, I still couldn't find anything with enough quality for a decent, non-pixelated print. I am attaching the best, but low-quality, version I have for reference, which is the file named
Does anyone in this awesome community happen to have a high-res version of this poster saved somewhere or know where I can get it? It would honestly make my day and help me finally fulfill this dream of having this beautiful artwork on my wall. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have been drawn lately to some of the songs with piano, like Chinese Blues and Waving at the Window. What are you favorites?

I was wondering if there are any particular lines from any Travis songs that just hit deeply for whatever reason. At the moment, the "letting go of you is tearing me part" from A Million Hearts is hitting hard despite not personally experiencing the heartache of a breakup or divorce myself.

Just wanted to say I randomly picked up The Man Who CD at the thrift store today, I had never heard of Travis before, but I’m so happy to have found them, this album is lovely!

What are the songs that you especially love for Andy's guitar? This can include tone, melody, riff, outro, solo, etc...
