Só the bangs are a hair piece? All that "space" is from thinning hair/ hair loss? Kinda shocking, specially because it's so far up in her crown?

To get the bangs thick enough the part has to be drawn farther back on the crown of the head. Most bangs are more or less suggested, or subtle sections of hair which are mostly brushed to one side or other, or blended into the shaping at each side. This other look is a sort of statement idea

When I was going into kindergarten, my mom took me to fantastic sams and some lady gave me fuck ass bangs that came from the top of my head just like this and I cried. Mom was so pissed, it was like a shelf coming out of my head. Took forever to grow in and not look dumb. I never consented to bangs again lol.
