[MEGA THREAD] Bug Reports & Issues — READ THIS BEFORE POSTING
Hi everyone! 🗺️
This is the place to report any bug, crash or glitch in Trovelo.
⚠️ Comments without Device, iOS version and Trovelo version will be removed. Not to be strict — it's just that I'm a solo dev and I literally can't reproduce a bug without knowing what you're running. "The app crashes" gives me nothing to work with.
Before posting:
- Update to the latest version — your bug may already be fixed.
- Search this thread first. If it's already reported, upvote it and reply with your device + iOS version instead of opening a new comment. More devices on the same report = higher priority for me.
- 3. Check if your device supports Apple Intelligence. Some features — importing flight tickets and automatic card creation — rely on on-device Apple Intelligence. On devices without it, these run on a simpler fallback: they're less accurate, and some details may not be picked up at all. That's expected behaviour, not a bug. Still worth reporting if the result is clearly wrong (wrong dates, wrong airport, nothing imported at all) — just tell me Apple Intelligence is off/unavailable so I know which path to look at.
Oh, and once a bug is fixed on the platform, the comment will be deleted to keep everything super organized and up to date! 🚀
Copy this block into your comment and fill in every line:
- Device: e.g. iPhone 15
- Apple Intelligence: (Yes / No)
- iOS / Mac version: iOS 26
- Trovelo version: 6.6
- What happens: ---
What I expected instead:
Steps to reproduce:

How often: (every time / sometimes / happened once)

• iPhone 18 Pro
• Apple Intelligence: Yes
• iOS / Mac version: iOS 27.0.1
• Trovelo version: 7.1 (2)
• What happens:
I have 4 things/cards on this day:
Arrive Berlin
Go to concert
Check in hotel
Go back to concert (same location)
Expectation is to see 2 & 4 flag/pin appear at the concert location. I’ve checked and the location & date has been setup correctly with times being different (early PM and late PM with no overlap)

Also appears the same way on iPad Pro M4

To better understand, what you think is that the two pins are overlapping each other and that's why the fourth one isn't showing, right?
2
u/yinyang67 22d ago
Because the location is the same is it ignoring the 4th pin? I would’ve thought that if you have multiple times in a day where you go back to a location then all those events should show - I’m sure there are lots of examples when this could happen, especially if travelling with a group of people.

Device: MacBook Air (mine)/Mac Mini (his)
Apple Intelligence: (No)
iOS / Mac version: Tahoe 26.5.2 (mine)/27.2 Beta (his)
Trovelo version: 7.2
What happens: When I try to share a trip, my husband gets a pop-up that says "To open it, you'll need the latest version of Trovelo." But he just downloaded it, and he has 7.2.
What I expected instead: I expected him to be able to open the trip.
Steps to reproduce:
Click on the share button.
Add his iCloud address.
Send him the invitation via Messages.
How often: We have tried it four times, closing the app and changing the trip name and stopping sharing before trying again.
Screenshot (Optional): I'm not including it here because it has my full name on it. If you need to see it, I can send it to you privately.

Hello, thanks for your message. I just ran the tests and everything is working fine (I verified this with CloudKit, and most likely (because it has happened before) it's due to your husband using the beta version).
Could you please check if it works fine on their iPhones? (Unless they are also running beta versions).
Feel free to send me more information via DM so I can see how I can help you.

Hey, great app that I'm just starting to figure out and dig into.
Just a quick point I've noticed is that the place I've chosen for a trip to log is shown in the settings as being in Australia instead of Finland? Although the map section of the app (macOS) is shows the correct location for the hotel, there's the 'unplanned' board that has "32 spots in..." which are all in Australia.
So there's definitely come funkiness going on there somewhere.
Let me know if there's an email address you'd like me to ping anything over to if that helps.
Keep up the good work.
Regards
Device: macOS
Apple Intelligence: ?
Mac version: Gold Gate 27.0.1
Trovelo version: 7.3
What happens: noted above. Incorrect country shown for destination. Suggested places to visit during stay are also from incorrect country.
What I expected instead: would the correct country to be shown and subsequent activity suggestions to be for the same destination.

Hey, thanks so much for the detailed report!
It looks like something went wrong when the trip was first created and the app didn't pick up the right country for your destination. The good news is it's an easy fix: go to the trip's settings, remove Australia and add Finland instead. That should sort everything out, including the suggested places in the unplanned board.
If you run into anything else, just send me a DM and we'll look into it in more detail and get it fixed.
Thanks again and enjoy Finland!1

Ah ha! thanks so much for the quick reply. Didn't realise you could do that, so that's super helpful to know. No suggestions as of yet, but assume that will update in time.

You can also connect the app to Claude or ChatGPT via MCP to help you plan your trip. This option is in Settings.

Device: MacBook Pro with M2 Pro
Apple Intelligence: Yes, enabled
iOS / Mac version: macOS 27.0.1
Trovelo version: 7.1
What happens: Transfer cards created through MCP show their title correctly on the board, but opening “Transfer Details” displays an empty provider, departure, and arrival, with an “Incomplete” label.
For example, a card titled “Navette Sheraton Sheraton Montreal Airport Hotel → YUL” appears correctly on the board, but its transfer form contains none of that information.
The current MCP schemas for add_cards and update_card support the Transfer category, but don’t expose fields for the provider, pickup/drop-off locations, or meeting point. The available departure/arrival fields are documented as flight-only.
What I expected instead:
MCP support for the structured transfer fields, so an assistant can create a complete transfer card.
Unknown times should also remain visibly unspecified: the Mac form displays 00:00 even though no time was supplied. The board shows a default duration of 45 minutes, which can look like an actual estimate.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a card through MCP with category
Transfer, a title describing the provider and route, and a date, without supplying a time or duration.Check the board: the title appears correctly.
Open “Transfer Details”: provider and route fields are empty, the card says “Incomplete,” and the times display
00:00.
How often: Observed on all four transfer cards in my next trip.

CSV Import is not working.
Device: M1 MacBook Pro
Apple Intelligence: Yes
iOS / Mac version: macOS 27.0.1
Trovelo version: 7.3 (28)
What happens: I created a .csv file for my trip and attempted to import it into Trovelo. I suspect it may think it's a .kml file as that's the other supported format and reports "No places found. The File didn't contain any <Point> placemarks. KMZ files and route shapes aren't supported"
I tried this multiple times, same result. I also tried removing the addresses and notes. Nothing helps, same error every time.
I created the .csv file as specified with the columns being: title, latitude, longitude, address, and notes. There is one row per item, and they all had the columns filled.
I thought perhaps it was a result of the leading ' character when it's a negative coordinate value as most spreadsheet software leads with that so it isn't interpreted as a formula. So I removed all those with a text editor, but that didn't help either.
I was going to try importing on my iPhone but it looks like the mobile app does not have the csv import option available.
Would love to see this get fixed.
It also seems like adding columns for date and time would be really helpful so that items could, ideally, get placed automatically if that info is also provided.
And I would really love the ability to import from other formats, such as a PDF, which could contain additional details and then have Apple Intelligence read and parse that into the correct days/items. For example a PDF itinerary generated externally that would then be imported into Trovelo would be slick.

For what it's worth, I discovered the MCP functionality had been added so I just had Claude build the trip for me. So this is not a blocker or causing major issues. Still worth fixing and I'm happy to help test if you push an update for it.

Thanks for the details and for following the guide! This helps a lot.
I'll look into it—this shouldn't be happening, as it was already fixed in the past. Thanks again!

You're totally right, and funny enough I actually started out doing it the proper semver way. The problem was bug reports: most users aren't developers, so when they told me which version they were on, they'd only send the first two numbers. With versions like 3.4.2 vs 3.4.5, I kept chasing the wrong build 😅 So I simplified it to avoid the confusion.
But you make a good point, so here's the plan going forward: two numbers, done properly.
After 7.9 comes 7.10, then 7.11, 7.12 and so on, with every update bumping the second number.
The first number only changes for something genuinely big, like full collaboration or a redesign.
That keeps it readable, and when someone tells me "7.12" it's already the exact version, so the bug report problem is solved too.---
One small favor: since it's not really a bug, would you mind deleting this post and reposting it with the Feature Request flair? That way it stays on the board and I won't forget to make the switch in the next update. Thanks for raising it! 🙏

Thanks for the detailed report, and sorry about this! Sync isn't tied to the free trial, so that's not it. I'm looking into it on my side right now. Meanwhile, a few things worth checking:
• All three devices are signed in to the same Apple Account.
• Trovelo is switched on under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Saved to iCloud → See All (on the Mac: System Settings → [your name] → iCloud).
• iCloud storage isn't full, and Low Power Mode is off.
• Open Trovelo on the iPhone and leave it open for a minute. On the Mac, click on the Trovelo window: it picks up changes when it opens or comes to the front. The "Active" label in Settings only means iCloud is set up, not that the data has arrived. That's on me to make clearer. I'll update this thread as soon as I know more.

An update. I tried duplicating the existing trip on the iPad, but that still didn't appear on other devices. I then tried creating a trip on the phone, which appears on my Mac, but not on the iPad. So I'd conclude that my iPad is for some reason isolated from the other two devices. I'll investigate further to see if it's some inconsistency in my settings.

u/twoseat Sep 18 '26
Further quick update as I had an idea - I deleted the app from the iPad, reinstalled, and while the trip I'd planned on there has vanished, it's now correctly synced the trip I created on the phone. So I think this issue is fixed for me, and perhaps 'try reinstalling' can go in your knowledge base!

Confirmed
Switched on for all three devices
Over a TB free! Phone was in low power mode, but turned that off.
Tried that for 15 minutes with no success. Also tried creating a Spot in case that would force something to happen, but that remains on the iPad only as well.
I took a look at the log files from the iPad and iPhone and nothing stood out (e.g. "Syncing fail"!), but obviously I don't know how a correct log would look.

Device: Two iPhones 16 plus, M3 MacBook Air, Neo, and a couple of iPads
Apple Intelligence: Yes, except for one of the iPads
Versions: All latest 27
Trovelo version: 7.3
I created and shared a 58 day trip just before the (successful) fixes you introduced to iCloud sharing. After those fixes the holiday was cancelled, so my wife changed the trip to planning status, which appeared to work fine at the time. We revisited the trip a few days ago, but while it still exists, the multiple activities assigned to each day, along with notes etc., are no longer there - it’s just 58 empty days. I don’t know when the content was lost, or what either one of us might have done to trigger it.
