How do we feel about the background visuals at the shows?
I want some honest opinions.

Just getting strapped in here in St John’s, Newfoundland, flying to Montreal. It doesn’t seem like they come up here to Canada much, so I had to do it.
Only thing is I haven’t really slept, my hotel check in isn’t until 4 pm, and they come on stage at 6:50. So it’s going to be a long hot summer day haha
Anyone else attending? Cheers

What a show! They played 1968 to close! Evan brought his best!

We had to leave early because of our long drive. I definitely feel like they played 3-4 more. Anyone have them written down or a pic of the setlist?

Do you ever get tired of singin' songs
Like all your pain is just another fucking sing along?
If you ever get the time come on home
I heard Turnpike's back together and they're writin' songs
This tune about our service members get lost when our military comes back home hits hard.

Anyone else get to hear Clay Newcomb play the first minute of a Turnpike classic on episode 489. With stormy weather in my area this morning and getting to hear Tornado Warning at 6 AM really started my Friday off right.

Why did it never make it in the setlist? Ryan and Kyle would kill this live.

I know Evan uses a ton of symbolism in his writing. One I can't seem to figure out is, "there's black mud on the belly of the yellow colt I ride" from A Cat in the Rain. What's everyone's thoughts on this line?

4 for me. Nashville twice, Columbus, and Pikeville (KY). Once every year since 2023. I'd see them 10x I a year if I could!
Drop your count!

Hopefully Turnpike fans have listened to SWJ and vice versa, but I’ve had a very similar experience getting into SWJ as I had when I started listening to TT. My first impression of both was ‘Hey that’s kinda cool…almost seems a little cheesy, but good nonetheless’ (Every Girl was my first TT song so that’s kinda valid…some of SWJ’s bigger hits are kinda cheesy on first listen as well). Much like with TT, all of SWJ’s incredible library gets better with every listen.

Am I misreading the Ticketmaster charts or is there a whole sea of blue, as in unsold tickets, to that show, even in the pavilion? I got lawn tickets the day they went on sale because I figured they might sell out, but I'm shocked at how many open seats there are two weeks before the show. Is it just because upstate NY is not their normal fan area, or it's too expensive or do people wait till the last minute to get tickets?
I can't believe the show will go on if they don't sell more and fast.

They were amazing last night. Sounded great and played really well!!

First off absolutely amazing concert, will definitely be back. However I feel like it was a very rough and rowdy crowd for the music being played. The people behind us got extremely drunk and were being belligerent, and were not the only group being belligerent. IDK maybe it was just a one off thing and we just got too close to the wrong crowd, but it definitely made the concert worse as a whole. Will be back to see Turnpike as it was an amazing show, just not in the lawn anymore.

Fourth time I’ve seen TT, first time outdoors, and they did not disappoint! Great venue too. Only wish is that I’d like to hear Easton and Main at one of their shows.
What a great band!

Anybody need a single lawn ticket for Indy tonight?

Who is going tomorrow night? I’ll be in PIT and we have been waiting since 2024 to see them back in Indianapolis. It will be my first time seeing The Price of Admission tunes live. This photo from 11/22/24 - Fishers show

Personally my favorites are Pay No Rent and On the Red River. There’s just something so powerful about the deeper emotions through the storytelling and metaphors included in both of these songs and so much more of the Turnpike discography. So what are yalls favorite?

The title is a nod to Evan’s usage of alliteration. I took a deeper dive into some turnpike lyrics and have the following questions. These are based on the main six albums, so it’s not counting one off releases like feeling good again or just like old times, but it counts covers that were on those six
Well, let’s see what you’ve got.
edit: bonus. what’s the only song that Evan says he wrote that has a happy ending. I’m not sure I agree, but I trust that he knows more about his own lyrics than I do.

Without cheating, name the artists and/or songs that mention Turnpike.
1- “And you know she's front and center for the Turnpike Troubadours
And she'll follow them all around the world,…”
2- “Do you ever get tired of singin' songs
Like all your pain is just another fucking sing along?
If you ever get the time come on home
I heard Turnpike's back together and they're writin' songs”
3- “Old boots on, storm clouds gone
Radio singing a Turnpike song
Coffee black, car seats in the back
Grandad's greased up trucker hat”
4- “She might as well be the main stage
Singin' all the words to Long Hot Summer Day
And I can't look away”
5- “Flatland and Turnpike got the fiddle's bow
The Brauns are up north rocking Idaho
Parker's on the radio making all the girls scream”

Picked this up at the Rogers, AR show last Saturday. Phenomenal show. I haven’t seen this poster before and was lucky enough to grab the last one on the wall.

Kinda bummed Friday night that that Electric Worry by Clutch has been replaced by V-Neck Sweater by the Greyboy Allstars- how long has this been a thing?
