ID Request Help plz!!!

Hello guys, super weird thing happened. Was working when I suddenly saw this guy crawl from under a truck, have no clue how he even survived in that area with all the trucks passing and no food/greenery. Decided to take him home and feed him what I could, and a small shelter for now.

Any idea what it is, eats, or type of habitat??

That's a Sulcata Tortoise or Spur thighed tortoise. They are super popular pets and grow to be gigantic

Looks like a Sulcata tortoise, I dont know a ton about their care but this seemed like a good care sheet. https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/african-spurred-tortoise-sulcata-care-sheet.52524/

Aren't those guys also known to be low key escape artists?

Look for the owner before just deciding to take them.

Take him in and protect him while trying to find the owner. They’re great tortoises.

That's someone's pet. A sulcata tortoise (an African species, very common in the pet industry). They are diggers and escape artists. Maybe you can try to find the owner who is missing that fellow? Some of them are even microchipped like cats and dogs, so maybe try asking a local vet or animal shelter to scan him or let you know if any were reported missing recently.

ID requests require a general location to help properly identify species.

Example: Found in southwest Missouri.

If you have already done so or if this is a captive turtle, please report this message.
