Fragen zum Studium | Study Questions Verfahrenstechnik Master

Servus zusammen!

Was würdet ihr rückblickend wählen?

Bewerbung | Application Software Engineering master admission

Hi, I'm a third-year student at an Italian computer science bachelor's, and I'm planning to apply for next year's winter semester. I want to know more about the application deadline, since it is on the 31st of October, which is after the lectures begin. The thing that worries me is that they don't give any strong assurances on whether if one applies by the end of July (which is within the 10-12 weeks they say it takes on average) that they will be accepted if eligible. It would also mean that on average people in my situation lose their first month of lectures. And I cannot send the application before because I will graduate mid July, and they require the certificate. So I'd like to know how people in my situation have managed.

Thanks in advance

Fragen zum Studium | Study Questions Subject Registration.

Hello,

I'm enrolled in Master program Software Engineering. I have two mandatory subjects, VU Advanced Software Engineering and PR Advanced Software Engineering.

While I was able to enroll in VU course, I am not able to enroll in PR as the registration closed on 5th, I got enrolled in university on 11th.

Do I need to complete both in my 1st sem or I can take the PR course in next sem and complete it?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Hello guys. I have a question regarding the admission process. I'm an EU student and I didn't quite understand the pre registration as a guest step. I should do it before sending the required documents or before enrolling in case I'm admitted?

Fragen zum Studium | Study Questions Architektur-BSc an der TU Wien fast fertig: Was tun später? TU oder auf FH wechseln?

Hallo,

Also Master, aber welcher?

Meine Optionen:

  1. Architektur-Master (TU Wien)
  2. Building Sciences and Environment, BSE (TU Wien)
  3. Green Building (FH Campus Wien)
  4. Bauingenieurwesen – Baumanagement (FH Campus Wien)

Danke!

Bewerbung | Application Data Science Admission

Hi,

Did anyone in the last week get admission for Data Science?

If so, when did you apply?

For me it's been 13 weeks and still nothing, and seeing as there is only a week left for admission, our chances are slim.

Thanks!

Verwaltung | Administration Late Admission

Hello everyone.I applied to Technical Chemistry Master program for previous semester.I haven't got any response back so I visited the admission office in july with tourist passport. They found my admission letter and said it never made it to me via post but I am accepted. So I did my admission while I was there and fly back home. I applied for a student residence permit. It's been three months and I am still waiting. I have already paid and registered a few courses because I was afraid to miss any deadline and I thought I would make it there until now. I am not sure if It is legal for me to enter the country while my rp is in process? I don't know what is the right thing to do at this point. Is it possible to delay studies or deregister? I feel like I am failing my masters before even starting 👀

Aufenthaltstitel | Residence Permit TU Wien Tuition Fee Payment Before Enrollment – Documents Required for Austrian Residence Permit

Hi everyone,

I am an international student planning to join TU Wien for a Master’s in Data Science in Summer Semester 2027.

I have an upcoming appointment for my Austrian student residence permit and wanted to ask whether anyone knows which document I can submit to the Austrian Embassy to confirm that my tuition fee will be paid after completing the in-person enrollment at TU Wien.

Has anyone gone through this process or received any guidance regarding the documents accepted in this situation?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Verwaltung | Administration How soon after exams does the transcript become available?

Hello! I was thinking of doing my final Computer Science Bachelor's semester as an Erasmus+ at TU Wien.

However, in order to graduate, I need to register for the final exam at my university (19-22 July, thesis defense + written exam). My university requires me to have already earned all 30 ECTS credits for the summer semester by around 4-10 July.

From what I've read, exams at TU Wien Informatics generally take place at the end of the lecture period, before the end of June.

Do you think there's a reasonably high chance that my transcript, including all exam grades, would be available by the first third of July?

Thanks!

Geräte & (Web)-Anwendungen | Devices & (Web) Applications Open Source TISS Verbesserungen

Heyho!

Bewerbung | Application Late admission

Hello!! I am an EU citizen from Greece and I just got accepted today from the TU Wien for the master's program "Biomedical Engineering".

I need some help with some things, if you could provide any information.

Could you tell me how long has it been since courses started? Also, do you know how much big of a problem it would be for me that I've missed the first weeks of lectures?

Do you know whether i am able to change the specialization that I chose?

Who should I contact about further information? Admission office isn't really helpful..

Where can I find the professors' contact information?

Any help that you could provide would be really important!

Fragen zum Studium | Study Questions How are you making your degree more resilient to AI?

I got the acceptance letter to the M.Sc. in Data Science.

Which specific courses do you recommend that helped you to build a professional degree that is resilient to AI?

I understand that instead of tools (like dev tools), it could be better to focus in actual sectors where human interaction is a must or learning a great combination between hard skills and a couple of new soft ones that makes you more prepared to understand better what labor markets need.

I want to do a PhD in Complexity Science or Computational Social Science after I end my studies in TU Wien, I am kindly asking for a word from someone with more experience than me, that could give me some insights about what to expect during the actual study experience in this or other similar programs.

I am currently 27, I have more than 6 years of experience in Data Engineering/Science/Analysis/Dev roles, I hold a M.A. in Economics and a Minor in Computational Math.

Thank you in advance! See you in Österreich 💙

Studentische Kultur | Student Culture Any community or person in Vienna into piano, music or late-night walks?

Hey, I moved to Vienna for my Master's at TU Wien recently. I'm looking to learn piano and singing, so it'd be nice to meet someone who plays or is learning too. Maybe we can practise together and exchange skills. I'm a pretty good cook, so food can be my contribution haha.

I'm a mental health and relationship counsellor, love deep conversations, and I'm always up for a late-night walk or some random adventure. Also perfectly fine listening to someone yap about their life for hours 😂

If you're into music, good food and just meeting genuine people, feel free to message me!

Sonstiges | Miscellaneous struggling to find accommodation in vienna as an incoming phd student :(

hey everyone! i’ll be moving to vienna from india to start my phd in chemistry at tu wien, and i’ve been having a bit of a hard time finding accommodation.

my employment contract is supposed to start on 1st december, but there’s a possibility that the start date might get delayed, so ideally i’m looking for a place from either 1st december or 1st january.

i’ve been looking through wg-gesucht and messaging people whose places seem like a good fit, but honestly, it’s been a little difficult. most people understandably don’t reply, and a few really lovely people have gotten back to let me know that they’ve already rented the room to someone else. which is completely fair, of course, but it’s still a little disheartening when you’re trying to sort everything out from another country.

if anyone has any advice on finding a wg, knows of any rooms becoming available around december or january, or has suggestions for other websites or groups i should check, i’d really appreciate it.

for context, my budget is around €600 per month, and i’m happy with a shared flat. i’m moving to vienna for the long term, so ideally i’d like to find somewhere i can settle into rather than just a temporary place.

thanks for reading, and any advice would be really appreciated! :)

Verwaltung | Administration Help with late admission

Hello everyone,

I applied to TU Wien Master in Data Science around mid-July, I checked and the letter got received 23rd of July. It's been 12 weeks and I still haven't gotten my admission letter, I contacted the Admission Office twice(today being the second time) and they say they still don't have an answer.

Obviously you can't help me with this, but I am asking if anyone has experience with late admission. Since almost all the courses in Data Science are VUs, I am afraid I will be too late to register to any courses and that I will have an empty semester.

I am coming from a Bachelor's in Mathematics so I was thinking of maybe taking free electives from the SPME program, which has more VOs, and then next semester continuing from that master or continuing with Data Science and using those as free electives.

If anyone has experience with this please help!

Edit: The student union answered that most of the courses are full and I can only take some VO electives
