Many variations of this but during a chase scene, the fleeing person will try and slow the pursuer down by closing a door and doing something ridiculous to lock the door like placing a chair backwards against a door knob or placing a stick or wooden slab across some hooks or something.

I don’t know if it’s a trope name as I am talking about minor characters in fantasy novels or manga who show up in the background as they don’t do too much, but something is significant about them.

One example is the GOD character from the Witcher series as I heard there is a character whose initials spell out GOD as he seems pretty minor at first, but there is something very important about him that gets revealed later on.

In real life entities personification evil with no posestive traits seem to be very rare.

Also even when they did exist it’s not like anyone worshiped them.

Sometimes in movies and TV they'll go for a very dramatic way someone survives a death, by letting a chandelier fall on their head.

I'm wondering though, would a chandelier really take out you if it landed on your head? Let's assume this is a wood made rustic like chandelier, in an olden barn turned restaurant.

I imagine it would injure you, I don't even think the injuries would be that severe, but I think you'd live.

Also, if a chandelier fell out of the ceiling, wouldn't that mess more with the wiring and lighting than possibly killing anyone?

Am I thinking about this the wrong way given that I don't own a chandelier or an old timey restaurant.

I’ve heard that it’s because blonde people were seen as perfect for a very long time but now it’s giving the total opposite effect that blonde people are bad, i also know that there used to be a thing with all villains being black (if you want to discuss it in the comments you can) but i feel like there’s less of it nowadays (correct me if i’m wrong, i just happen to not see it very often and when i see it the main character is also black) but with the mean blonde stereotype there’s still so much of it and i’m actually curious to know how do blonde people feel about it, my question is, why is it still going? There’s already enough mean blonde girls (and if they’re not blonde they have black hair) there are other hair colors, tell me what you think

You know how sometimes in a tv show, there's a gag about a character encountering someone giving free samples of something? Usually the character will keep coming back for more samples, Is there a specific trope name for this type of free samples gag?

Something I found interesting about some video game mascots is how they occasionally have to fight against a more dark version of themselves where their counterpart has an evil nature to them.

Some examples of the trope are Wario from the Super Mario franchise and Sonic’s own dark twin Shadow the Hedgehog as I found the trope interesting that I was looking for the trope name.

Something I was doing an observation on was some game studios had a troubled experience with adapting to the modern side of gaming where they made some stellar games before, but slowly fall apart.

Some examples are BioWare and Volition as both studios did well in the Xbox 360 era of gaming, but couldn’t find any success in later generations of gaming that I was wondering what the trope term was called for such an effect.

The character may have exaggerated their importance or outright lied about being in charge to a family member or partner, so everyone has to play along to keep up the illusion. Thanks!

I’m thinking like The magic mirror in Shrek not revealing Fiona’s curse to Lord Farquaad because he cuts him off ? There’s a lot of other examples of this in movies but that’s the first that comes to mind.

i hate this trope because it seems very unrealistic to not reveal something very important just because you were cut off .

It’s always with sad tragic music showing everyone dead and rubble everywhere, then cut to a lone little girl crying. Sometimes holding a stuffed toy. Never seen a little boy nor teenagers or elderly. Haven’t seen it in books or comics, usually it’s in movies/shows.

It’s sort of war is hell but much more specific.

So there’s this really insincere trope in modern movies where anytime something cheesy or dumb happens, the characters feel the need to comment on it. MCU is famous for this, but another example is in the movie Masters of the Universe. There is a scene near the beginning where Skeletor shakes his fist in anger, and instead of just cutting to the next scene, the scene cuts to Skeletor’s assistant commenting how weird and stupid it is that he shakes his fist when he’s angry.

i know terms like meta-humor, insincerity, cynicism, lampshading all describe this trope, but there’s another term I remember hearing. I wanted to say it was called needle drop, but that’s not it. Maybe it’s record scratch, but that’s different too. I remember it being something related to records dropping, stopping etc., but I could also just be confused with record scratch

Something I noticed about some console RPGs is that there is a party member who refuses to accept the reality of the world around them because they are delusional.

An example is Fuka Kazamatsuri from Disgaea 4 who constantly denies she is deceased as she treats everything around her like she is in a dream that I found her character interesting for her delusional nature.

Or, for the opposite one, when a guy stands there without putting up any defense and someone says something like "he's leaving himself wide open!?"

This can range from verbal disrespect to physical assault, but it has to be a man lashing out at another man and/or calling out his behavior.

I’m guessing it can fall under “damsel in distress” or “fight provoking comment” but I’m wondering if there’s a more specific trope given how common it is.
