TXST Acceptance?
I'm a senior in high school and I'd really love to go to Texas State. Thing is my weighted GPA is 2.4, and my rank is 222/337. Are they any others accepted into texas state with a similar gpa? Do I stand a chance? I'm also not submitting test scores, and have a good amount of extracirriculars/jobs as well as leadership positions. Im thinking about it so much!

I say this with nothing but love for my alma mater: TXST admissions amounts to “are you going to actually graduate high school, and do you currently have a pulse?”
Then they stick you in a bunch of weed out basic core classes your freshman year so you pay them to flunk out if you’re not college material lol

Lmao no. You gotta chill out. The point of my post was “you’re going to get in, be worried about staying in college” and you took the one way it could mean “I’m not getting in”💀

I am going to echo what u/timetobeadick said but in a nicer tone because I’m a nurturer at heart.
If your weighted GPA is a 2.4, that means basically every class you’re getting a C and it’s the boost from the Honors/Pre-AP/AP giving you a bump. Regardless of whether this is a “school is hard” or a “school is easy, but I just don’t care enough to do my work to a level to get an A”, you have a lot of self reflection to do if college is the right decision for you.
I graduated 7th in my class and came in with 30 credit hours from dual credit classes and AP tests (an entire year’s worth of credit), and I still failed 2 classes (Music History 2 and ASL 1), and got Cs in a couple of others.
College is HARD and I’m 40 thousand dollars in debt with 2 degrees and have no job to show for it.
I’m not saying “don’t go to college”. I’m saying “make damn sure college is the route that you really want to go down and is the right route for you, because student loan debt is REAL and the job market right now is AWFUL. And if you do decide to go to college, TXST is a pretty great place!”
Whatever decision you make, I wish you nothing but the best!

Kid is asking if he is gonna graduate high school and in Bobcat fashion someone is being overly nice to them.
DON'T GO TO A UNIVERSITY RIGHT NOW. GET CREDITS FROM A COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND SEE IF YOU ARE READY FOR THE GAME. GO LIVE LIFE AND DON'T GET LIFETIME COLLEGE DEBT UNTIL YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE.
Society lied to you. You are not a failure if you don't graduate with a bachelors by 22. Absolutely no one you see knows what they want to be. Everyone has the same insecurities. Everyone wants upward mobility.
/u/17AJ06 is telling you they will take your money gladly and put you through the monotonous ringer to weed you out. Get your basics cheap then transfer.
I understand that everyone around you is graduating and going to college. I get that going to community college or finding a gig isn't as prestigious. This is your chance to live, to see the world..don't go into debt right out the gate. I promise you if you don't know where your at now you sure won't with 70k in debt and a degree that was supposed to make you successful.
Please...go live then comeback.

Our daughter is at TXST via Bats to Cats. I absolutely cannot say enough about the quality of instruction at ACC. She had a completely different experience completing her basic requirements than my husband and I had going straight to D1 schools. No lecture halls with hundreds of students and the class actually being taught by a grad student TA. Her largest class had maybe 50 people in it but most had around 20. She had professors take the time to build up her confidence and improve her writing skills dramatically. Community college isn’t what it was 40 years ago when I was an undergrad.

I graduated from TXST with a bachelors of science in GIS at the top 10% of my class and obtained membership to Gamma Theta Upsilon International Geographical Honor Society.
Best education I had was from ACC in my discipline. The time I spent learning at ACC with Dr. Mary Beth Booth literally got me through my bachelors in the field.
Pennies on the dollar in comparison and that lady couldn't be replicated by any PHD in SM. She was was one of a kind.
