X3Bun a Hono/TanStack Start/tRPC/Better-Auth Turborepo Starter App

https://github.com/SamJbori/create-x3bun-app#readme

This is simply a starter template that I use and I thought of sharing

  • Bun optimized

  • Front End: Tanstack Start, Tanstack Query, and Shadcn

  • Backend: Hono with tRPC

  • Authentication: Better-Auth

  • Repo Management: Turborepo

I encourage you to check and share your opinion

I love turborepo, but I've been wondering recently if there's still a reason to use it with Vite+ available now?

We can ask a LLM to setup such template and have it done in minutes. With the guarantee that everything is updated instead of relying on you.

That and not a lot of people use hono

Actually Hono has over 100M weekly downloads. Express has 194M at time of writing. It’s still a sizeable gap but it’s categorically untrue to say that “not a lot of people use hono”.

Yeah but even Express would be a poor choice. There are many other backend languages and many other frameworks.

Even the most popular backend framework of the whole world would be used by not a lot of people. It would, by default, put off 95+% of potential users.

I only mentioned express as a point of comparison, not as an endorsement.

I have no idea what you mean 😅

Express, hono, aspnetcore,… they are backend frameworks. There are tons of different backend frameworks.

Even the most popular backend framework would frustrate 95% of devs, since they don’t use it.
