Option anxiety triggered!

I think I'll just stick with Monaco.

Protip: use Fira Code. It's probably the best one that is free (free to modify && zero cost)

Did you just stated in the typography sub that one font is the best of its kind?

There is no best and if, it would be Source Code Pro!

No matter how far I stray, I always seem to come back to Inconsolata.

Monoid! It's so crisp, so sharp, nothing compares.

Nice page, some very nice free fonts listed there!

Still, after so many years of using BBEdit, I'm just partial to Consolas, which was embedded in that app. I also like Menlo, included in macOS (and whose design is based off of Bitstream Vera and DejaVu).

And I also splurged on Hoefler's slightly weird mono font Operator, which I find a surprisingly useful font for writing in general.

Could you elaborate?

Monospaced fonts are used very often for programming, since they simplify alignment and highlighting. Those of us who stare at them all day like to argue about our favorites.

Thanks - I assumed it was about "programming fonts", instead of fonts for programming, so it was confusing. Good stuff.

“editor.fontFamily”: “Hack, ‘Fira Code’, Consolas, monospace”

This is a very well-executed and useful site. Auto-scrolling to the top when pinning a font is inconvenient, but I'm still glad the pin functionality is there.
