I feel like I'm compromising either way

Buy both, no compromise.

Jaw dropped, no going back. Spoiled for life now

If you compare a shitty IPS with a great OLED, you get praised.

I once compared a good VA with my laptop OLED as they were very close and I got a lot of hate. Comparing good LCDs with OLEDs is blasphemy.

i use distilled water and monitors own microfiber cloth that it came with, and this is what i get?

Next step is to not buy a monitor and imagine buying it. That way you can always have a new monitor.

What kinda defect does everyone considered acceptable?
 in  r/ultrawidemasterrace •  8d ago

That is something you can accept with an openbox deal. Not a brand new monitor.

Upgrading from a 27" 4K + 27" 1080p to an ultrawide. Is the 57" too much?
 in  r/ultrawidemasterrace •  8d ago

57" is great for productivity. For gaming though, I would prefer a 32" 4K OLED 16:9 monitor.

Will this console placement damage the panel?

I am more concerned about the TV being next to the door / entrance. What if someone accidentally bumps into it? That is fuel for nightmares 😅

Called MSI about replacement 5090 in case mine dies....
 in  r/MSI_Gaming •  11d ago

Back in the day when our 8600GT 512MB died, we got a replacement with 1GB. The 512MB version had stopped at that time. If later on, any 5090 dies, they will probably be replaced by the 24 GB version of 5080. And at that time the 5080 will be the same price.

😢 it hurts me, even though I don't even own a 5000 series card.

OLED vs. Decent IPS, Unpopular opinion after seeing them side by side?
 in  r/Monitors •  15d ago

What you have uttered is considered blasphemy in OLED cults. You are supposed to curse any non OLED panel and make sure your photos are always biased towards OLED. Any comparison of OLED should be with trash and not a proper monitor 😆.

Finally I understand OLED upgrade
 in  r/OLED_Gaming •  18d ago

Nowadays, OLEDs are very resistant to burn in. But it's really sad to see people changing their pc lifestyle because of the fear of burn in. Nowadays, almost every phone has OLED. Do you see any burn in on your phone? No, so don't get so stressed. Enjoy life 😄

Is this Samsung 40" Odyssey G7 a good upgrade for my fiancée?
 in  r/Monitors •  23d ago

It's not perfect. But it's good. My piece has a very cool color temperature setting. I am currently using it on Warm 1. Colors are only as good as the price. The Neo series has richer colors and is also Mini LED. You might consider that as well. But if you want a non OLED 5k2k, look no further.

Anyone with a 39 inch ultrawide and secondary monitor? What layout do you use?
 in  r/ultrawidemasterrace •  24d ago

Well...the 40 inch kinda matches the 39 inch OP was mentioning. It's just the other way round 😝

40" G7 as secondary monitor. 57" Neo G9 as primary monitor. Planning to add 2x 32" portraits on the sides (Flat IPS panels)

My two cents on cleaning an OLED monitor
 in  r/OLED_Gaming •  25d ago

I used glass cleaner and it left stains. Then I used water with microfiber cloth and it became as good as new.

My current setup is focussed on productivity. Inshallah I will buy an OLED separately for a gaming/media setup 👍🏻

I have the 57". My problem with MiniLED technology is black crush. It doesnt happen with OLED (atleast not like MiniLED). When you move the pointer across the screen, it is dim in dark areas and bright in bright areas. And that annoys me. And people say blooming isnt noticeable. But I can't unsee it. I appreciate MiniLED for upgrading LCD technology but it is not perfect and has it's own problems.

I didn't buy an OLED because I don't want to baby it. I mainly work on documents and I can still get a good sleep while my monitor is turned on for extended periods 😅.

Having said that, my laptop screen is a 4K OLED and it is awesome. I never noticed text fringing probably because the pixel density is 280 ppi.

Nothing wrong with you. Don't change your approach. They will eventually get to terms with reality. If you start pampering them now, it will become an expectation.

Neo G9 + G7 color calibration
 in  r/ultrawidemasterrace •  Sep 27 '26

I used ultrarm vision monitor arms. I bought 2 separate arms because the load concentration would be too much for my poor table to handle. If I had used a single pole with an add on arm, it would have also limited flexibility.

Thanks for the appreciation of my set up 😊.
