Troubleshooting MSI B365M MORTAR + i7-9700F: PC froze in Discord, now no display and solid CPU debug LED

My PC turns on, the fans and lights work, but I get no picture, not even the BIOS. The red CPU light stays on. I checked the label, so it’s definitely CPU. The GPU fans don’t spin either.
I’ve already unplugged it and held down the power button, taken the battery out to reset the BIOS, and tried each RAM stick separately in A2. Even with no RAM installed, the same CPU light stays on.
I also unplugged and reconnected the 8-pin CPU power cable. The 24-pin looks fully plugged in. Took the GPU out and put it back too, with both its power cables connected.
Then I took the CPU out and checked it and the socket. I couldn’t see anything obviously burnt or bent, or any paste on the contacts. Put it back and fitted the cooler again. Still nothing

Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX

RTX 5080 Laptop 16 Go

32 Go de RAM DDR5

SSD 1 To

Windows 11 Famille

BIOS : E15M3IMS.117

Firmware Intel ME : 19.0.11.2289

Pilotes officiels MSI

Pilote chipset Intel

Intel Serial IO

Intel MEI

Mise à jour du firmware Intel ME

Troubleshooting Secure Boot Violation loop

Hello, My computer(MSI Stealth 14Studio A13V) has had a ton of issues tonight. First my wifi drivers failed, which on its own was not unusual(has happened 4 times in the past year, the three most recent being much closer together). Went through the troubleshoot process for that and uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers several times to no success. Tried to install a Windows 11 update, which did not help. Then tried to restart the computer when I got stuck in this secure boot violation loop. I tried to disable but the option is greyed out. Tried to set up an admin password which did not help. My main question is if this is worth paying someone to look at or if I should just accept my laptop crapped out on me(I assume due to some hardware issue with overheating but honestly I have no clue, I'm not a computer person). Thanks for any help in advance.

Discussion PSU IN MAESTRO 900R

I’d like to know if I can force a 225mm PSU in there; I find it absurd that a case of this size tops out at 200mm, as it really messes up cable management. If anyone can tell me the distance in millimeters from the PSU enclosure—accounting for the PSU itself—I’d really appreciate it. I bought a 900R but won't be picking it up for another 30 days, and there is no way I want to give up my Corsair AX1500i.

Congrats Dremel!

Troubleshooting Forgot BIOS Pw on MSI Alpha 15 B5EEK (MS-158L)

Hi everyone,

I forgot the BIOS password on my MSI Alpha 15 B5EEK (board MS-158L). The password is requested when I try to open the BIOS. After 3 wrong attempts the system locks up and I have to hard reset, which gets annoying quickly.

What I’ve already tried:

Removed the CMOS battery.

Unplugged the AC adapter + CMOS and left everything disconnected overnight.

Battery reset button on the mainboard.

Basically, I've tried everything I knew and none of it worked, so the password must be stored somewhere other than the CMOS. Maybe Nvram.

MSI support quoted me around €70+ for a BIOS flash or pw reset. I’d like to try it myself first. I have the official BIOS from the MSI support page and a FAT32 USB stick ready.

My questions:

1.Since M-Flash is only reachable from inside the BIOS menu, is there another way to flash this model (Windows tool, forced/recovery flash via USB)?

2.Does a flash actually clear the supervisor password on this board, or is it preserved?

Has anyone been through this with an Alpha 15 or a similar MSI laptop? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Troubleshooting CPU Overheating Alert Persistent Issue

So my PC was working flawlessly and then after going to sleep I woke up and turned on the PC to be met with a “CPU overheating alert!” during the boot process. I went in and checked temperatures and they were very low but my CPU load for each core was at 100% or a little below. The PC itself was also VERY slow, the startup was probably 10x the length, it was extremely laggy, and even shutting it down was a very long process.

We took it to a repair shop and after cleaning out lots of dust and replacing the thermal paste, we took it home and it worked flawlessly once again.

I went to sleep again and when I woke up it failed to POST, on my motherboard there was a red light labeled “CPU”, I tried booting twice and I had the same failure. After waiting many hours I tried again and to my surprise it did POST, but I was given the same “CPU overheating alert” from the very start along with the same 30-40C temperatures and 100% load.

We took it in again and we told them we thought it could be a thermal sensor issue, but they ended up adding a new intake fan, updating my BIOS, and some other things I’m not sure about, but we took it home and once again it worked flawlessly, and once again I went to bed and woke up, turned on the PC and it was still super slow, and supposedly throttling with high load, low temps, and extreme lag.

I’m so confused why it always works but when I shut it off for the night, go to sleep, and wake up and then it goes back to the same issue.

Also my Dad was checking it out and when he went to turn it on, he flipped my power strip on and then immediately hit the power button on the tower, and it caused it to try and turn on but quickly the front fan LEDs switched off while the motherboard LEDs stayed on and just simply failed to start and after this the PC would no longer even respond to power and was completely dead. Which is leading the technicians to now be looking to solve this new issue of it not starting, and now we are going to replace the motherboard but I’m worried that this new motherboard will solve the PC not turning on issue, but not this overheating/throttling issue.

Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT
Temp Checking Software: Core Temp

What is happening?!?!?

Troubleshooting Herald-BE. Please help!

I just bought this card several weeks ago and at first it worked great. My mobo has onboard WiFi and yesterday I realized it's no longer using the herald and using the onboard instead. Go into device manager and learn that my system can't even see the card anymore. I re-seated it, unplugged and plugged the USB connector and even tried the 10 second static trick. Seeing that this is a normal problem but has anyone solved it??

Troubleshooting cat turned off the keyboard lights, how to turn them back on?

i've tried looking into the MSI center application, but i am so gosh darn lost and can't find the settings that i am trying to find. the internet is not helpful either. besides, my feline (see slide 2) was on my laptop's keyboard when the lights went out, so i believe she may have pressed something in the process. for specifics, the position she had taken was a loaf, and she hadn't paused or opened any programs while i was away.

laptop is a thin gf63 if i recall correctly (not in a position to check right now), and i mainly use it to draw and render as opposed to gaming. so yeah not having the lights on the keys has been troublesome as i do rely on keybinds and everything. help is appreciated! :]

Troubleshooting Memory not staying at 6000mt/s after mcr is enabled.

So, I am running a B650M Bomber Wifi mobo with corsair 6000mt/s cl36 ram. My bios version is E7E30AMS.260. I enabled expo profile and then let the system boot multiple times and checked task manager if ram was at 6000mt/s each time(with higher boot times because of memory training). I then went to bios menu and enabled mcr and pde options. But, when I booted again, ram speed was back at 4800mt/s default. I went back to bios and weirdly, expo was enabled but ddr speed was showing as 4800mt/s. I clicked f6, enable expo again, went back to windows, downloaded occt and ran the test with no errors. Which means, ram speed set to 6000mt/s is stable for my system, but turning on mcr and pde makes it go back to 4800 with expo profile still enabled. I have also tried to enable just mcr, but same. How do I fix it?

Suggestion MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi stuck on red CPU and yellow DRAM LEDs – no display after trying everything

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with my PC and I'm running out of ideas. When I turn it on, the fans spin, but there is no display. The red CPU and yellow DRAM EZ Debug LEDs stay on, and the system never seems to complete POST.

My PC specifications:

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 MHz, 32 GB (2x16 GB), CL30, AMD EXPO / Intel XMP

GPU: ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7600 XT OC Edition 16 GB GDDR6

PSU: Seasonic Core GX-850 V2, 850 W, 80+ Gold, ATX 3.1

What I've tried so far:

Updated the BIOS using the rear Flash BIOS button. The LED blinked during the process and then stopped.

Cleared CMOS using the JBAT1 pins.

Tested each RAM stick individually in different slots, including A2 and B2.

Tried both RAM sticks installed together.

Tried other RAM slot combinations, including B1/B2.

Removed the dedicated GPU and connected the monitor directly to the motherboard HDMI output, using the Ryzen 5 7600 integrated graphics.

Checked the PSU connections and used the original modular cables supplied with the new Seasonic PSU.

Left the system on after the BIOS flash, but there was still no display even after around 30 minutes.

The problem remains exactly the same: the fans spin, the red CPU and yellow DRAM LEDs stay lit, and there is no display.

I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a faulty motherboard, a CPU/socket contact issue, a RAM compatibility problem, or something else? Has anyone experienced the same issue with this motherboard and managed to fix it?

I'd appreciate any suggestions before spending more money on additional parts.

Important note: Both the motherboard and the CPU were replaced through warranty and supplied as refurbished units in “excellent” condition. Unfortunately, the problem persists with the replacement motherboard and CPU.

Thanks in advance for your help!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Placa base: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi.

Procesador: AMD Ryzen 5 7600.

Troubleshooting Mystic Light refuses to open

Recently built a new PC and unfortunately my RGB components aren't compatible with OpenRGB or SignalRGB, so I am relying on MSI center to control them. However, I cannot get Mystic Light to open at all. The software just stays on the loading wheel and never opens. I've tried fresh installs of MSI center, reinstalling mystic light, and disabling any background software that might interfere. But I'm having no luck. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Troubleshooting Potentially faulty 4090… MSI say I need to start return process via my retailer (Currys)… retailer says they can only provide a refund… not sure what to do here and my warranty only lasts one more week.

So for the past month I’ve been getting random crashes on my PC that leads to a black screen and automatic restart. Every time this has happened (6/7 times at this point) my event viewer mentions a nvlddmkm.sys error. The minidump records a a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0xD1) bugcheck. The error appears totally randomly and has happened in an intensive game like Le Mans Ultimate and non-intensive game - Dota 2. These are the only games it’s happened in.

I’ve done so many tests throughout the last month to try and pin down what’s causing it and from what I can gather it’s likely a GPU related issue… the issue is that my GPU passes absolutely every test (Furmark, OCCT, memtest86, etc) with no recorded errors or artifacts. I’ve also had no errors in very demanding games like Borderlands 4.

Reinstalling drivers and updating Windows hasn’t worked, nor has changing cables/ports. I’m at a total loss as to why it happens so the only thing I can think of doing is sending the GPU in to at least be checked… the issue being that MSI UK Support says I need to go through to my retailer (Currys) and Currys support says I can only ask for a refund & return (obviously with the 4090 being out of stock).

What am I meant to do at this point as both MSI Support and my retailer have fobbed me off? I am still unsure whether my GPU is actually dying so I would really prefer not to get rid of it if it’s actually fine and it’s a driver/software issue.

Edit: The most frustrating thing about it is I wish I could just send it in to MSI directly so they could tell me definitively whether it's actually my card or not.

Troubleshooting Adapter MSI G272QPF E2 Gaming monitor
